This was a fun film to work on. I was one of the special effects guys who worked on this movie. And I can tell you as a fan of both Kevin and Woody, whom I haven’t worked with either of them before this show, it was a great honor and pleasure. I am a Louisiana local born and raised, and this was a really interesting project to work on giving the history and location so close to home. I’d say the coolest part of this job was working on the cars, the ambush car in particular. And we did our best to recreate the car as it was in real life and this was the first show based on truth I’ve worked on, so just looking at historical photos and reading information trying to get the details on things such as where the bullet holes go, the distance of travel and all that was just so cool.. Lots of great people to work with on this show and again Woody and Kevin were great to work with, super nice, friendly and respectable. Its was a pleasure and the film came out great, I really enjoyed watching it.
Great movie. I loved that they purposely downplayed and undershot Bonnie & Clyde - it built the suspense and mystery from Hamer & Gault's perspective and put the light on them. Great storytelling decision, and so well done.
Yes, for me it seemed like the viewer was getting the perspective that the American public must have gotten back then. Hardly anyone met or even saw Bonnie and Clyde in real life, so all they had to go on were reports and a newspaper and some on radio. So of course all of the mythology gets built on from that.
Authentic, mostly accurate and very entertaining. Costner and Harrelson took this film to it's zenith with the two veteran actors giving awesome performances.
I first saw Kevin Costner in No Way Out and The Untouchables when I was 17. It’s awesome seeing him now because he has aged quite well as an actor. The Highwaymen is clearly the sort of project that Kevin, Woody and Kathy were all meant for. 👍🏻
I loved this version. I like that the focus on the Texas Rangers showed the animalistic perspective of the criminals and didn't glorify them. I also like that it highlights that women did have strengths in history, which contrasts the narrative we are told today. Well done for making this film.
I guess based on whatever your perspective is you might see them as 'animalistic' but I wouldn't characterize Bonnie and Clyde that way. I damn sure don't agree with killing anyone BUT given everything that happened to clyde up to that point I can see why he felt it was his ONLY option. So if the roles were reversed and you found yourself in his shoes you can say you would give up and go back peacefully to Eastham prison??? You can't back someone into a corner and not except them to furiously fight back. So the way I see it is desperate times called for desperate measures! END OF!!
Who would have thought back when Cheers was on tv back in the 80's that the most successful cast member would be Woody? Plus what a wide variety of characters that he would go on to play and so well. One of my favorite actors.
Was a really good movie if you enjoy cops and robbers.... But towards the end when Bonnie and Clyde are actually shown, the look on their faces when they realize what's happening is priceless.
Yes, its always fun for violent scum to deal it out without consequences, but just like real life they shiiiiiit themselves, and none of this is ANY good we can do better surely
It was well done but In reality, they didn't know what hit them. No one stood in front of their car. No one said stop or halt. The first shot killed Clyde.
Kathy Bates is to me the best woman actor around. She's just so damn natural in the parts she plays. Love her work. This movie is without a doubt one of my favorite movies of all time. EXCELLENT!
I glad to see a film that highlights and showcases the law enforcement that hunted them down but do film that showcases Bonnie and Clyde’s perspective really qualify as glorifying though? Or any movie that simply has the criminals as the main characters ? I don’t see how you can really glorify mobsters and gangsters when you the viewers are shown the criminal immoral acts they do.
I disagree, I mean yes I loved it, but I didn't necessarily need to see the cops more glamorized than the criminals, if that makes sense. In other words, for me it didn't glamorize either side, it just showed it as a job that had to be done.
The movies from Bonnie and Clyde prospective didn't justify their actions it just told their side while this did it the opposite side from the Texas Rangers side and cops

Having just watched the HIGHWAY MEN last week then seeing a two video series on RUclips of Frank Hamer; I'd have to say this interview with the cast and director of the movie THE HIGHWAY MEN is the best I've ever seen! Frank Hamer Wow, what an unsung hero bridging the old west and the modern era. His story is fascinating! Texas should have a State Holiday in his honor!
I just watched this on Netflix didn't think I would enjoy watching these together but really enjoyed it, and it's so on point with the history book's great job guys, Kathy Bates is always good
I watched The Highwaymen. It was an epic, historical film. Costner does only great movies. "Open Range", "The Hatfields & McCoys", "Wyatt Earp", and, well, there are too many great movies from Costner, to mention. Harrelson does great films too. His role in "No Country For Old Men", is one of the roles that defined that great movie.
I loved the look on Bonnie’s face when they realize it’s all over, right now. It’s kind of primal! Like she’s a wild animal. Just that look is great acting!
Interesting to note the applause for a woman as Governor of Texas during that time and then, saying it with facts without saying it directly, showing that Gov. Ma Ferguson was in over her head with her own ideas and approach to stopping Bonnie & Clyde which were ineffective while simultaneously dismissing skilled people. Just goes to show that not much has changed.
This movie was able to set me in the 1930s. As a former police officer it made me respect my old profession even more. To catch criminals sometimes you have to think and act like them. Good movie to say the least!
Watched it yesterday and I can just say it’s been an amazing , great movie!! A movie of this kind deserved to be released in the best cinemas . Koster and Harrelson you both played the role masterfully. Amazing job !! I’ll watch it again for sure!
Finished watching this yesterday...such a great film. One of the best out of Netflix in recent years. Costner and Harrelson have great chemistry. Highly recommend!!
Just watched the movie and all I can say two gr8 actors on display as always they were both awesome no bonnie and clyde as people complain made it even better we have only heard that story a million times keeping it on the rangers was definitely the right idea
Great interview love people who can ask questions that pertain to the actor's work . Some people get too personal and you often don't get to hear the performer explain some of the process of bringing characters to life in these films.
Great acting I love Kevin and Woody and Kathy they are really great thespians that always lend the quality of their craft. I enjoyed this film thank you Fandango for this interview.
All my fellow officers thought Hamer was the real deal. I've met a couple of retired Texas Rangers over the years, really good fellows and friendly but I wouldn't want to cross 'em. They had that old-school cowboy charm but also had a plan to end any trouble before it started. Yeah, I'd want any of these ol' Rangers on my side in a shtf moment, true statement!
schweet,Great film nice to see another perspective of a historical event, after years of only having Bonnie and Clyde's version it's almost a different story on how it came a cross, outstanding film all you actors were great and kudos to the writers.
I don't know what you've been reading, but I've read every book ever written on them. B&C never sugar coated anything to their family. Their family knew what they were and what would happen to them. And so we set the record straight, Bonnie Parker never killed anyone. And, when Clyde killed, it was never cold blooded ... it was fear based. You have the Eastham Prison System to thank for that.
I consider my opinion on films a good one with a high bar. This film has been added to my favorites vault, i can turn it on at any time and be entertained. this has been my go to movie for a few weeks now, ive watched it i think 10 times? what a great, great film. robbed of awards, nothing new.
Two iconoclast actors who just bring so much sunlight to stories of our age. They put faces on things that may not normally be so. Or be able to be done by fellow actors of theirs.
Every time I hear interviews with actors this calibre, which in my opinion, most if not all of them, are real legends, especially when you compare with the times we are living that personally I think the movie industry is not like it was in the 80s and 90s. Without a doubt special effects are technology are a big difference but when it comes to stories and quality, it is sad and movie and entertainment industry will have to change. I guess journalists that have the opportunity to talk to these actors, are more knowledgeable...great interviews, it is definitely not easy to talk to actors like that and such good stories
Great movie, I wish half the movies that make it to the theater were this good. Costner and Harrelson are fantastic together.

Chilling story about ‘Manos Arribas’ as told by Woody Harrelson. So believable.
I watched The Highwaymen.
It was an epic, historical film.
Costner does only great movies. "Open Range", "The Hatfields & McCoys", "Wyatt Earp", and, well, there are too many great movies from Costner, to mention. Harrelson does great films too. His role in "No Country For Old
Men", is one of the roles that defined that great movie.
Google the picture of the original lawman Kevin Costner played. The resemblance is positively eerie.
I absolutely loved this movie!!!! It was creepy, eerie and dark...stellar movie!!!
Love the movie love the actors loved everything thank you for putting this on Netflix thank you again love the movie 100%
This movie was able to set me in the 1930s. As a former police officer it made me respect my old profession even more. To catch criminals sometimes you have to think and act like them. Good movie to say the least!
As a former Texas Ranger, I adored it.
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time! You really cant go wrong with the actors who were chosen! Thanks guys!
I watched it Friday when it hits Netflix and really enjoyed it.
This is quite the cast! I'm glad they are telling the story more accurately.
I really enjoyed the movie, Costner was spectacular.
Great acting I love Kevin and Woody and Kathy they are really great thespians that always lend the quality of their craft. I enjoyed this film thank you Fandango for this interview.
Great show just watched last night! Well done!
I watched it couple of days ago and loved it! Fantastic job!
So glad to hear Kevin Costner's voice isn't as shot as it sounds in the movie! Great movie. Loved watching a different perspective of it.
Costner and Allen.... what an incredible duo! If you liked the original Bonnie & Clyde with Beatty and Dunaway you're going to love this one.
Kev.. what a legend!
one of my all time fav films !!! its an absoulutly fantastic film
Just watched this last night...outstanding picture and all actors did a great job! Best thing I've seen with Costner and Harrelson in years
All my fellow officers thought Hamer was the real deal.
I saw the film last night, loved it...great acting, great story line. Just great....
I absolutely LOVE Kathy Bates in this role and ALL her work! God Bless her!
