I grew up in wilkes barre, it's been over 20 years since I've been back. Amazing work on this video. It took me back to my childhood.

Hey Ryan, I had a great time while there. I was on a project in Hazleton but I wanted to stay in Wilkes Barre. A lot of great people and very diverse little town. Glad you enjoyed the video.

I was born and raised there and married there. I used to love the area…it’s so sad today. The town seems like the music in this video.

take away all the buildings, all the bridges, electrical wire and poles, clean the river, and what you would have left is a beautiful valley and what I would call paradise. We truly live on one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world, the Wyoming Valley from Piston down to Berwick is a masterpiece done by a divine artist....peace

I know this video was posted a year ago. I grew up in the Valley and still live here. The one part you showed of the church with the red roof, Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, and the tan brick building (Good Shepard Academy) across the street on N. Maple Ave. are on the West side of the Valley. The town is called Kingston, it is not part of Wilkes-Barre. On the next block is the fields for Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School and the Russian church. Everything else you showed was Wilkes-Barre. The vacant lot that is on the corner when you enter Wilkes-Barre from the Market St. bridge from Kingston is where the Hotel Sterling once stood. It sat vacant for many years and had to be demolished due to damage caused by flooding in 2011 (flood gates leaked). The brick building without windows next door to the vacant lot is the Sterling Annex, which is being restored. There are plans to build a new hotel on the site where the Sterling was located. Great video!

Michael LoGrande Hello, i greatly appreciated the tour. I was there a short spell and did not really have the opportunity to know about the town. I actually liked the area but seems there are some that are not fans. I am going to look up the flood that occurred there and thank you once again...

You won't find much on the 2011 flood, but lots on the 1972 flood from hurricane Agnes. We had 5 feet of water on the 2nd floor of our house, in South Wilkes-Barre.

1:54 to 2:25 are in Kingston across the river. 2:08 specifically is St. Ignatius RC Church. The building across the street is Good Shepherd Academy. The street is N Maple Ave between W Hoyt and Pringle Sts.

James Muller Hello, I create these videos not to offend anyone and if it did, I apologize for this. However, my very short visit there was great and the people I met were hospitable and nice. Not sure what hell you are experiencing but I do hope that you find your resolve. I can see that there were better economic times there like any city or state there remains blighted areas.

Lived here all my 54 years: Was at one time a great town with low crime, old world charm, friendly people, thriving businesses and a police force that would actually help people. Now, most of the old charm is replaced by crime, hatefull people, not many places to go, failed businesses, very few good jobs and one of the most crooked law enforcement agencies in the country. Sad to say but I should've moved out years ago -

Wilkes-Barre is like most old towns that have seen their glory years ago, but it still has much to offer. Great sights and architecture, many things to do both in the city and within close proximity and there are certainly many job opportunities. Sure there are sour people like Mark who put down the area from which they reside, but those people are usually failures in life no matter where they call home.
