Your videos never fail to entertain and inform. My camping friend is a big hiker. I'm sure he will have me talked into it for next spring. Haven't done any serious hiking in 40 years, can't wait.

Well I am an Overlander! I am camping down near Hocking Hills on top of a hill and took my Jeep off-road to get to the top and have my large tent and all my equipment. It will take me time to figure out the backpacking. 😅

Almost 1000 subscribers! It’s nice to see someone out and about in Ohio. It’s easy to disperse camp out west. Ohio, not so much.

Agree, I am at a Hipcamp spot the next two nights and it is getting cold!! But I am secluded in the woods!! Will share video in a couple weeks. God bless!

Keep going with the backpacking, Matt. With all the craziness in the world, if nothing else, the experience is good. You will learn many useful things.

Carollyn: Thanks for watching and I will continue backpacking. I am going to go camping again in early November and am going to use the small tent and figure out what the best items to take for backpacking. The biggest issue is water and trusting the water supply in Ohio with all the farms and fertilizers. I do have a filtration system, but I am not sure it takes out chemicals vs. germs. Do you know? Again, Thanks for watching.

@@rubiconmatt Do you watch any overlanders/camper vids? There is one, Gonagain, that does a lot of reviews on all sorts of stuff. He showed how to build your own Burkee system. There's one on filtration systems that may be useful. There are quite a few people doing overlanding that do those.

I have done quite a bit of backpacking Matt, you are on the right track. A few more trips and you will figure out what to take, what to leave home and how to make it all fit. Thanks for sharing.

If I were to go on an overnighter hiking, do you know of any good trails where you can experience a remote hiking /camping experience? I would want to camp by a stream you can filter water from as well.

@@rubiconmatt Archers Fork Trail in the Wayne, Might be a little ruff to start on. Zaleski has a good trail with water pumps at locations along the way. Wildcat hollow backpacking trail is a good one, I believe there is a creek that you can filter water from there but you should check the website. In Michigan there are serveral, but the Manistee trail is a good trail that follows the river and you can filter water from it.

Matt Google the MSR pump water filtration system. It’s small and I carry it in my backpack bc you can pump and filter water directly into your Nalgene. It’s the best on the mkt.

Thanks for the tip, but someone told me you still should not pull water out of streams where you know there is a lot of fertilizer run off? Is that true even with the MSR? Thanks.

Very good video Matt ... experience makes us better . I will be doing a backpacking experience , probably next spring. That orange pad on your backpack I have. It is double 28.00 this year than when I paid around 15.00 for it last year at Walmart. Going to the bathroom is what will be different for me . We carry a bucket with toilet seat and cat litter now in the Jeep. When we started watching you were around 600 subs . Your really growing and the Lord is blessing. We are at 579 last year at this time we were less than 100

Congrats on your channel growth!! The Lord is good and sharing the Good News is why I do my channel . I use a the Luggable Loo toilet and the bags. Thermoplastic foams are very expensive due to the weather issue in Texas this past winter. Car makers are still having trouble in getting foam for seats and prices have doubled for sure in the market. Thanks for watching and the encouragement. I am going overlanding next!! As I mentioned the biggest thing is having a water source.

Those holes are likely crayfish. It could be snakes, hornets, etc. I've always found them to be mostly crayfish though.

Thanks for watching, crayfish in Ohio on land? Not sure, but there were a lot of them. Thanks for the tip
