Thanks for sharing this. First I have heard of it, there's no word of this release so far in the normal channels. Have not checked Rockcrawler de though so you've probably covered it there
Did not check or post on RCCrawler... kinda "dead" there, ... neither on RCGroups. But yes, there is information in the German forum. First info as mostly (of Chinese brands) at RCfans: www.rcfans.com/article-19359-1.html - end of June. Then quite a long time for preorder on Banggood, but earlier available on Aliexpress. I preordered the first day available on BG and seem to have been one of the few who did already receive his MN111, ... only 2 reviews so far, and again for preorder for some weeks now.
I would have preferred metal axle housings too to match the metal body. In second place, I would have liked the dull, matte plastic with the textured finish that FMS/Rochobby uses. It seems like they imitated the style of the FMS axles with that star pattern on the bell housing anyway.
A 9mm wheel hex is a strange choice. Previously MN has gone with 5mm, just like the WPL ones, on their 12th scale stuff. I really dislike the 5mm, and 9mm makes things a bit more difficult as well. It does look like you can fit different wheel hexes on the axles though, so shouldn't be a big issue. If it works, I'll probably be throwing some 7mm wheel hexes and some Injora wheels and tires with some 3D printed inserts on there. In my experinece the MN and WPL tires are usually quite bad anyways, at least compared to almost any half decent 24th scale tire out there. The rest looks good though. Would be nice with bearings, I guess, but with bushings at least you don't have to worry about getting them wet. As for the plastic gears on the gearbox, it shouldn't be a problem. My SCX24 gearbox has held up well, despite putting way more power than stock through it, and the WPL two speed with plastic gears seems almost bullet proof. The only rig I've had issues with plastic gears in the gearbox is my RGT EX86100 Pro, where the spur gear shredded really quickly, even with good mesh.
Following this one for sure. Shame about the plastic gears in the centre gear box, kit versions usually have the better parts... Oh well, we'll see I guess 🙃😊
Hallo.
Beautiful Defender, though it's a bit high on its wheels. I don't understand why an aluminium body : heavy weight, very high placed, so low performances expected on rocks, and the look is not better than a light and clean hard plastic body. Chassis and transmission seem on the same level as other manufacturers : good. Oil shocks ? I guess not because of the upper cover, side drilled. Waiting for the test drive.😉
Neat. I ordered one on banggood the other day, using all my banggood points, and it's on its way. Can't wait. Looks really nice, and it will be interesting to see how it runs when done.
Great unboxing & review. I was quite excited by this model at first. But it seems quite expensive for me considering it doesn't have any electronics. I'd rather have a plastic body and a cheaper price, with an interior. Looks like great detailed body though. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you. There will be a RtR version somewhen. For me, no electronics is much better. Normally electronics coming with those models are quite poor and I would exchange anyway. Quite exited about the super cool lights... and how to control those. Will have to test, this is what I like most. I agree, plastic body would look "the same" (painted with same colours), much lighter, better performance, and cheaper.
The "scratched" isn't a big problem for me. But you are right, super dark windows, so no driver/interior possible/necessary. Cannot really understand this, super, super heavy metal body, and then no interior. Honestly lighter plastic body (looks "the same" if painted the same way) and a an interior would have been nicer IMO.
Best of all, it's a KIT! Frankly a bit tired of all the RTRs in the marketplace.
This new MN is great. Mainly the body shell 😍

Agree. Axles look like shrinked MN90 axles with portals.

Do you not have a mn99? Is this one better ?
I have MN90. This one is a very different car, much smaller and metal body.

Extraaaa
Looks like a nice kit… But dark windows….Big dislike and sorry to see it’s scratched as well
