Well, I don't usually write super long comments but here I am. I discovered your channel in the middle of last year by randomly clicking on a RUclips recommendation ; and it was probably the best discovery I made on this site in 2018! Your critics are always well constructed and very interesting, and I discovered a few great artists thanks to you (I may even get into country, goddammit!). Also, as an European, watching billboard breakdown during breakfast is now part of my Wednesday morning routine :p So yeah, great job, keep the good work man! I wish you a wonderful 2019, and I'll see you next time ;)

You'll soon be hearing the chime Close to midnight If I could turn back the time I'd make all right How could it end like this? There's a sting in the way you kiss me Something within your eyes Said it could be the last time 'Fore it's over! Just wanna be Wanna bewitch you in the moonlight Just wanna be I wanna bewitch you all night It keeps on giving me chills But I know now I feel the closer we get To the last vow I don't wanna end like this (Like this, yeah) But the sting in the way you kiss me (I'm loving it) Something within your eyes Said it could be the last time 'Fore it's over! Just wanna be Wanna bewitch you in the moonlight Just wanna be I wanna bewitch you all night Just wanna be I wanna bewitch you one last time in the ancient rite Just wanna be I wanna bewitch you all night

For Poets of the Fall, have you checked their “Video game” band “Old Gods of Asgard” where the music have a more metal edge to it. They released a new song for the newly released game “Control” so it is active at least.
@@riddypr Yeah, I figured he didn't like it enough, but he called it their best album to date. I thought that would at least merit an honorable mention.
When you were talking about the missing heavier music in the lead up to #12 i was expecting "holy hell" by Architects. that album was excellent and needs to be on this list. Architects, already amazing, delivered their best album to day.
My top albums of 2018, 1. Sleepwalkers from Brian Fallon 2. Hell-on from Neko Case 3. Chime from Dessa 4. FM from Vince Staples 5. Full Circle Nightmare from Kyle Craft. Overall, pretty good year.
I understand your frustration with metal this year, however there were two Death Metal releases at the end of the year that are absolutely amazing and worth a listen if you like the genre: Sulphur Aeon - The Scythe of Cosmic Chaos Chapel of Disease - ...and as We Have Seen the Storm, We Have Embraced the Eye
Iridecense may not be my favorite, but it's definitely them at their most pure. I loved Saturation 2 the most, but that's mainly because Ameer was my favorite member.
Here's My Full List of Top Hip-Hop Albums of 2018: _____ 2018 has been remarkable enough that some are already calling it the best year in #HipHop history. Whether that is true or not it is indeed the best year in recent memory. _____ 10 - #DrogasWave by #LupeFiasco A greatly conseptual and densely compacted effort from Lupe. _ 09 - #Kamikaze by #Eminem _ 08 - #Daytona by #PushaT The album is short to the point of barely qualifying to pass as an album, it but hits every mark one would expect from Push. Just great drug-centric themes over incredibly well-crafted production. _ 07 - #BeholdADarkHorse by RocMarciano This one is astetically more interesting than RR2 whilst possessing the same level of virtuosity Roc always has. _ 06 - #TheWidowsSon by #Apathy When the term 'Boom-bap' is brought up, this album is the perfect representation of it this year. That, and it contains a level of esoteric knowledge that most people do not posses on Freemasonry. _ 05 - #MansaMusa by #PlanetAsia A brillant effort where Planet Asia does what he does best with using his own experience and projecting it through an unbelievable scope based on the historical character. _ 04 - #InCelebrationOfUs #Skyzoo When people utter the term 'Black Excellence' it is usually fundamentally misplaced, this project however is the embodiment of it. Released appropriately on Black History Month, it is a celebration of many aspects of Blackness and the Black experience. _ 03 - #RR2 by #RocMarciano Following up on arguably the best album of last year, the sequel to the album with a title inspired by the greatest film ever made does not disappoint in th least bit. _ ** - #BookOfRyan by #RoyceDa59 After years of building the anticipation around this album, Royce drops the most conseptually introspective project of his career whilst keeping his a-list lyricism. _ ** - #OrpheusVsTheSirens by #HermitAndTheRecluse Brilliant MC KA tells his street-oriented stories through the scope of Greek mythology over amazing production from Animoss in the most thickly layered rhyme patterns and beautifully complex schemes. That, and a prior knowledge the listener has with a the mythos make the experience that much more enjoyable. ____ Special Honorable Mentions For The Top Hip-Hop Albums of 2018: ____ In any other year any of these albums could have easily made it into a top five position, that is how good of a year it was for Hip-Hop. It is hard enough to qualitatively classify the actual top ten in orderly fashion, so this list is in alphabetical order. ____ #EverybodyIsFOOD by #Conway _ #EverythingsFine by #JeanGrae & #QuelleChris _ #MonaLisa by #ApolloBrown & #JoellOrtiz _ #NoNewsIsGoodNews by #Phonte _ #PRhyme2 by #PRhyme _ #SupremeBlientele by #WestsideGunn _ #TA13OO by #DenzelCurry _ #TanaTalk3 by #Benny This album is briefly a dirty, authentically oriented in content about drug-selling in greatly hard-hitting bars from Benny The Butcher over mostly Daringer produced boom-bap beats that are masterfully crafted. 'Spray the driver side like we trynna wash the windows,' 'I heard they sick about rapping 'bout the drugs I streach, Imma right a whole album about the plugs I met,' 'Turn a hater to a Hindu,' 'I'm nasty, my flow dirtier than Flint water.' _ #ThaCarterV by #LilWayne _ #ThePainCollector by #VinniePaz.
I'm the opposite - I loved 'Noname- Telefone' but for some reason 'Room 25' still hasn't clicked with me to this day, after dozens of listens. I think it's too subdued. But it's still good.
I only used to have one favorite artist. Then Chime by Dessa came out. Holy shit that record is incredible. It’s personal, beautiful, and Fire Drills is the best song I’ve heard in ages. I didn’t listen to nearly enough music this year, but I’m incredibly grateful I decided to listened to Chime late at night after watching your review. Best album I’ve heard since your top pick of 2015 (which has since become my favorite record of all time).
The “Honorable Mentions” list (basically every album Mark gave an 8/10 to that didn’t make the list) - Objekt - Cocoon Crush - Open Mike Eagle - What Happens When I Try To Relax - Cloud Nothings - Last Building Burning - Vallendusk - Fortress Of Primal Grace - Armand Hammer - Paraffin - Jason Eady - I Travel On - L’Orange & Solemn Birgham - Marlowe - Rolo Tomassi - Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It - Tropical Fuck Storm - A Laughing Death In Meatspace - Florence + The Machine - High As Hope - Karen Jonas - Butter - Parquet Courts - Wide Awake! - Alrakis - Echoes From Eta Carinae - Beach House - 7 - Iceage - Beyondless - Panopticon - The Scars Of Man On The Once Nameless Wilderness - Against All Logic - 2012-2017 - Kacey Musgraves - Golden Hour - Preoccupations - New Material - Courtney Patton - What It’s Like To Fly Alone - Wade Bowen - Solid Ground - Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending - Ron Gallo - Really Nice Guys - Jeff Rosenstock - POST
I only have two favorites live forever by Natasha Mosley and I used to know her by H.E.R my favorite songs on h.e.r's album- as I am, could've been and lost souls favorite on live forever- lonely, red hair take me, everything, lights off and over it
I didn't really listen to that many (new) albums last year to make my own top X list. But if I did I'm sure my no 1 (or pretty near that top) would be 'I Loved You at Your Darkest' by Behemoth. I also enjoyed My Indigo -> project by Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation.
@@rei9185 Perhaps that's a bit harsh, and I'm someone who feels that while ARTV is a nice guy and can articulate good points when he puts in effort, he has a fair share of flaws in his evaluation process, some noticeable bias steamrollers, and isn't consistently sharp with his critical faculties. I could easily make an argument that 'Golden Hour' is a safe choice for critics to name AOTY. While it was a great album, it was only a light 8/10 at best. It wasn't nearly as strong as her magnificent debut 'Same Trailer, Different Park', or other stronger country albums released this year for that matter (see Pistol Annies' 'Interstate Gospel', Caitlyn Smith's 'Starfire', Courtney Marie Andrew's 'May Your Kindness Remain, Lori McKenna's 'The Tree', and Ruston Kelly's 'Dying Star' records).
The Idealistic Yeah I was just being satirical and facetious. I admire the work the guy puts into his videos, but I do think the guy is pretty biased and tasteless. I’m not even hating on Golden Hour at all, I just think it’s far too flawed for aoty material.
Jonah A I feel as though Spectrum Pulse has more musical knowledge than ARTV, but ARTV likes more songs that you can enjoy. So much of what Mark listens to is so heavily political that it is hard to re-listen despite its quality.
Okay, nobody’s going to agree with me so here goes it (no particular order btw): Camila - Camila Cabello Aurora - Bea Miller (criminally underrated, such a step up from her debut) Sweetener - Ariana Grande Singular: Act I - Sabrina Carpenter
It has been pretty hilarious and satisfying hearing you put Music Row and Nashville on blast throughout all of your 2018 year-end lists. Frankly, they fully deserve it for their numerous systemic failures (such as allowing a NON-COUNTRY song to top the Country airplay charts for almost a year) and cowardice towards playing authentic country women on the radio.
So I'm new to your reviews, so this is likely a silly question to those that have been following you. But your list has no metal albums. Do you not listen to metal, or did you find that no metal releases were worthy of a top 25 nod?

@@user-fo3yt1jq6n Its just my opinion. I like albums that are epic and intense so that's why I enjoyed the Tom Morello album so much. I thought the rock guitars blended well with the electronic instrumentation and I liked the guest rappers. I completely understand why most people don't like it.
Bonne video! Si quelqu'un a le temps de passer voir ma dernière vidéo et qu'il aime le rap, ça ferait extrêmement plaisir! Bonne continuation à tous...
I used to be obsessed with country music 8-10 years ago and I haven't really listened to many new releases since then. I did, however, listen to that Pistol Annies album and it just didn't do anything for me. Even 'Golden Hour' is a better effort and it's easily the most overrated album of 2018.
@@regirayquaza Obviously when a member with a troubled past is kicked out, it'd be like that. Of course, in terms of overall quality, I still feel like Saturation II was their best work yet.
@@crazyluigi6664 yeah i dont think its a bad album. Given the context of its release i think its a great album however to say its their best body of work i just dont think thats true
mn conde he had FM, Daytona, iridescence, room 25, everything's fine, and chime. Did you even watch the video? And even if he only had two, who cares? It's his list.
Wow, Mark. Can’t believe you put Die Lit in all 25 spots on this list!

Also, as an European, watching billboard breakdown during breakfast is now part of my Wednesday morning routine :p
So yeah, great job, keep the good work man! I wish you a wonderful 2019, and I'll see you next time ;)

So happy that Interstate Gospel that I suggested on Patreon ended up on the top 25 of the year 😊😊 knew it would be right up Mark’s alley 😊😊 I really thought it was one of the best no doubt 😊😊
You'll soon be hearing the chime
Close to midnight
If I could turn back the time
I'd make all right
How could it end like this?
There's a sting in the way you kiss me
Something within your eyes
Said it could be the last time
'Fore it's over!
Just wanna be
Wanna bewitch you in the moonlight
Just wanna be
I wanna bewitch you all night
It keeps on giving me chills
But I know now
I feel the closer we get
To the last vow
I don't wanna end like this (Like this, yeah)
But the sting in the way you kiss me (I'm loving it)
Something within your eyes
Said it could be the last time
'Fore it's over!
Just wanna be
Wanna bewitch you in the moonlight
Just wanna be
I wanna bewitch you all night
Just wanna be
I wanna bewitch you one last time in the ancient rite
Just wanna be
I wanna bewitch you all night

I like most of the albums on this list.
Why wasn't High As Hope on here?
Because Mark clearly didn't like it enough to put ti here. An 8/10 rating doesn't guarantee a spot on this list.
Architects, already amazing, delivered their best album to day.
chime is phenomenal, also easily my favourite
My top albums of 2018,
1. Sleepwalkers from Brian Fallon
2. Hell-on from Neko Case
3. Chime from Dessa
4. FM from Vince Staples
5. Full Circle Nightmare from Kyle Craft.
Overall, pretty good year.
I understand your frustration with metal this year, however there were two Death Metal releases at the end of the year that are absolutely amazing and worth a listen if you like the genre:
Sulphur Aeon - The Scythe of Cosmic Chaos
Chapel of Disease - ...and as We Have Seen the Storm, We Have Embraced the Eye
Iridecense may not be my favorite, but it's definitely them at their most pure. I loved Saturation 2 the most, but that's mainly because Ameer was my favorite member.
I love dirty computer
Here's My Full List of Top Hip-Hop Albums of 2018:
_____
2018 has been remarkable enough that some are already calling it the best year in #HipHop history. Whether that is true or not it is indeed the best year in recent memory.
_____
10 - #DrogasWave by #LupeFiasco
A greatly conseptual and densely compacted effort from Lupe.
_
09 - #Kamikaze by #Eminem
_
08 - #Daytona by #PushaT
The album is short to the point of barely qualifying to pass as an album, it but hits every mark one would expect from Push. Just great drug-centric themes over incredibly well-crafted production.
_
07 - #BeholdADarkHorse by RocMarciano
This one is astetically more interesting than RR2 whilst possessing the same level of virtuosity Roc always has.
_
06 - #TheWidowsSon by #Apathy
When the term 'Boom-bap' is brought up, this album is the perfect representation of it this year. That, and it contains a level of esoteric knowledge that most people do not posses on Freemasonry.
_
05 - #MansaMusa by #PlanetAsia
A brillant effort where Planet Asia does what he does best with using his own experience and projecting it through an unbelievable scope based on the historical character.
_
04 - #InCelebrationOfUs #Skyzoo
When people utter the term 'Black Excellence' it is usually fundamentally misplaced, this project however is the embodiment of it. Released appropriately on Black History Month, it is a celebration of many aspects of Blackness and the Black experience.
_
03 - #RR2 by #RocMarciano
Following up on arguably the best album of last year, the sequel to the album with a title inspired by the greatest film ever made does not disappoint in th least bit.
_
** - #BookOfRyan by #RoyceDa59
After years of building the anticipation around this album, Royce drops the most conseptually introspective project of his career whilst keeping his a-list lyricism.
_
** - #OrpheusVsTheSirens by #HermitAndTheRecluse
Brilliant MC KA tells his street-oriented stories through the scope of Greek mythology over amazing production from Animoss in the most thickly layered rhyme patterns and beautifully complex schemes. That, and a prior knowledge the listener has with a the mythos make the experience that much more enjoyable.
____
Special Honorable Mentions For The Top Hip-Hop Albums of 2018:
____
In any other year any of these albums could have easily made it into a top five position, that is how good of a year it was for Hip-Hop. It is hard enough to qualitatively classify the actual top ten in orderly fashion, so this list is in alphabetical order.
____
#EverybodyIsFOOD by #Conway
_
#EverythingsFine by #JeanGrae & #QuelleChris
_
#MonaLisa by #ApolloBrown & #JoellOrtiz
_
#NoNewsIsGoodNews by #Phonte
_
#PRhyme2 by #PRhyme
_
#SupremeBlientele by #WestsideGunn
_
#TA13OO by #DenzelCurry
_
#TanaTalk3 by #Benny
This album is briefly a dirty, authentically oriented in content about drug-selling in greatly hard-hitting bars from Benny The Butcher over mostly Daringer produced boom-bap beats that are masterfully crafted. 'Spray the driver side like we trynna wash the windows,' 'I heard they sick about rapping 'bout the drugs I streach, Imma right a whole album about the plugs I met,' 'Turn a hater to a Hindu,' 'I'm nasty, my flow dirtier than Flint water.'

#ThaCarterV by #LilWayne
_
#ThePainCollector by #VinniePaz.
Della Yassine so is everyone just gonna sleep on ti’s new album?
Omg, I can't remember the other albuns that you gave perfect score.
I'm the opposite - I loved 'Noname- Telefone' but for some reason 'Room 25' still hasn't clicked with me to this day, after dozens of listens. I think it's too subdued. But it's still good.
Nice Tie!
Good list but missing Kids See Ghosts
I only used to have one favorite artist.
Then Chime by Dessa came out. Holy shit that record is incredible. It’s personal, beautiful, and Fire Drills is the best song I’ve heard in ages. I didn’t listen to nearly enough music this year, but I’m incredibly grateful I decided to listened to Chime late at night after watching your review.
Best album I’ve heard since your top pick of 2015 (which has since become my favorite record of all time).
The “Honorable Mentions” list (basically every album Mark gave an 8/10 to that didn’t make the list)
- Objekt - Cocoon Crush
- Open Mike Eagle - What Happens When I Try To Relax
- Cloud Nothings - Last Building Burning
- Vallendusk - Fortress Of Primal Grace
- Armand Hammer - Paraffin
- Jason Eady - I Travel On
- L’Orange & Solemn Birgham - Marlowe
- Rolo Tomassi - Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It
- Tropical Fuck Storm - A Laughing Death In Meatspace
- Florence + The Machine - High As Hope
- Karen Jonas - Butter
- Parquet Courts - Wide Awake!
- Alrakis - Echoes From Eta Carinae
- Beach House - 7
- Iceage - Beyondless
- Panopticon - The Scars Of Man On The Once Nameless Wilderness
- Against All Logic - 2012-2017
- Kacey Musgraves - Golden Hour
- Preoccupations - New Material
- Courtney Patton - What It’s Like To Fly Alone
- Wade Bowen - Solid Ground
- Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending
- Ron Gallo - Really Nice Guys
- Jeff Rosenstock - POST
I only have two favorites live forever by Natasha Mosley and I used to know her by H.E.R my favorite songs on h.e.r's album- as I am, could've been and lost souls favorite on live forever- lonely, red hair take me, everything, lights off and over it
I didn't really listen to that many (new) albums last year to make my own top X list. But if I did I'm sure my no 1 (or pretty near that top) would be 'I Loved You at Your Darkest' by Behemoth.
I also enjoyed My Indigo -> project by Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation.
Nobody's gonna agree but my favorite album this year was "Noire" by VNV Nation.
That's my 2nd favourite. Love VNV.
it's funny as soon as you said collaborator at number 24 i knew immediately what album you wre talking about
Watch and see is only 25?
You're crazy ,watch and see is at least top 5 ,that album was amazing
I find your lack if Judas Priest's Firepower disturbing
No one talking about clarence clarity think peace rip
Had Mark been aware of its existence, it'd prolly end up in his Top List for sure.
*DESSA*
Only two months away until the new American Football...
A lot of overlap in between ours. DAYTONA >>
Top 3
3 sleep the sciences
2 daughters you wont get what you want
1 anna von hausswolff dead magic
Kacey Musgraves Album made the top of ARTV’s best list
Cameron Spalding Cause he has no taste
Okay, nobody’s going to agree with me so here goes it (no particular order btw):
Camila - Camila Cabello
Aurora - Bea Miller (criminally underrated, such a step up from her debut)
Sweetener - Ariana Grande
Singular: Act I - Sabrina Carpenter
Guys, the Fantano-esque meme comments aren't working here ;P
It has been pretty hilarious and satisfying hearing you put Music Row and Nashville on blast throughout all of your 2018 year-end lists. Frankly, they fully deserve it for their numerous systemic failures (such as allowing a NON-COUNTRY song to top the Country airplay charts for almost a year) and cowardice towards playing authentic country women on the radio.
So I'm new to your reviews, so this is likely a silly question to those that have been following you. But your list has no metal albums. Do you not listen to metal, or did you find that no metal releases were worthy of a top 25 nod?
@@SpectrumPulse Thanks for replying.
This was missing Great Van Fleet
No

The Atlas Underground really sucked man, it is like objectively bad
Kudos for not putting KSG on the list.
Wait... where is Golden Hour??????
Iridesence is in fact not brockhampton at their best lmao
It feels like their most pure.
Yeah, I was really disappointed by it. There are only a few songs I revisit from it. It's a 6/10 at best for me.
Where’s Kids See Ghosts
No kids see ghost, ye, or TA13OO
Where is Astroworld... smh travis is on top bro
No metal. 😔
I'm sorry but Congratulations is way better than LDA.
Enjoyed the list but too much talk about racism and mysogyny and too little metal
horrible music taste, only 2 hip hop albums?!?!?
mn conde he had FM, Daytona, iridescence, room 25, everything's fine, and chime. Did you even watch the video? And even if he only had two, who cares? It's his list.
@@zacharygeesaman Pretty sure mn conde was joking.
