I have fired well over 1000 rounds of Underwood Ammo 220 gr hardcast through my Glock 20 SF and never experienced any malfunctions. A good bit of them through the stock OEM barrel, the rest through a 6" KKM barrel. But I have never fired any Buffalo Bore ammo in any of my guns. Underwood Ammo is top notch.

This is an example that people who shoot frequently will pay far more for ammunition than the guns. You’ve put $1500 worth of underwood ammunition through a $600 pistol. That’s not counting the other ammunition that you’ve likely fired through it.

The problem with 10mm is that because most of it is underloaded, people also OVER estimate how hot it should be. 200 grains at 1200 FPS is max 10mm pressure/specs. 200 grain bullets are the heaviest projectiles this cartridge was designed to take.

      @ReeveHelalV 7 месяцев назад

Not exactly. Jeff Cooper’s original spec was a 200 gr at 1000 fps for the 10mm. Dornhaus and Dixon, the manufacturer of the Bren Ten, upped it to a 200 gr at 1150 fps. It was actually Norma that cranked it up and loaded it to 1250 fps for the 200 gr. bullet. Not exactly what Cooper had in mind. The .40 S&W is actually closer to what his idea of an ideal self defense round should be.

I've had an XDM in 10 mm and also in 9 mm, both with 4.5 inch barrels. I traded in my 10mm XDM for a 4th Gen Glock 20 because of its lower bore access & reliability. All 3 had never malfunctioned. I also replaced the 4th gen Glock 20's barrel with a 5" threaded KKM barrel which had also never malfunctioned until I screwed on a 2 port comp & had multiple malfunctions. At the same time I put on a 2 port comp on my P10C where it to had multiple malfunctions. Removing the comps returned both to 100% reliable. The most interesting thing is that when I screwed on the same 2 port comp on my 4.5" XDM 9mm I had no malfunctions. Makes me think I made a mistake trading in my XDM for the Glock. That 2 port comp does wonders on my XDM 9mm & makes it shoot softer with much less muzzle flip.

Try playing with the recoil spring weights. That is a common thing with the 40 and 10 when you start messing with comps or suppressors. It's not really that something's wrong, it's just affecting the balance of spring power versus the recoil.

It definitely looks like the glock had extra limp wristing. I say get some gen 5 mags for the gen 5 glock and redo the test. And keep your mind on your shooting technique. I think you got too much going on while filming yourself and your mind is not on holding your gun firmly.
Others said it is still a manufacturing flaw of the gun and should not fail during limp wristing but i do not have enough experience to know.

I don’t go any heavier than 200gr projectiles in 10mm. The extra theoretical benefit of a 20 grain heavier bullet is not worth the documented decrease in reliability with some guns in my opinion.
Hi-Point slides have resistance at the back of its travel. That is where the trigger gets reset. Once the trigger is reset you will not encounter it again until after the gun is fired and the trigger needs to be reset again.
Also if you try to keep your trigger finger in contact with the trigger in the same place not lifting off or sliding around it may help tighten your groups up.

As cool as the spicy 10mm is, and as nice of an outdoorsman’s cartridge a full tilt 10mm makes, a lot of guns simply can’t handle that load reliably, as Chuke and his buddies, as well as many others are finding out.
This might be an old way of thinking, but I think the excessive use of polymers used in guns chambered for these magnum type cartridges is a mistake. I suspect these polymer guns were intended for the more mass produced 10mm ball practice ammo that performs more similar to .40 S&W.
Even Chuke finds the price of this buffalo bore a bitter pill to swallow and retains only 10 rounds for his own use. I’m not so sure that I’d even trust the three guns left standing, plus the M&P 10, which didn’t even qualify since it’s got a terrible reputation already. I’d need to see more than 10 rds fired through each. My number is 50.
I’ve seen multiple magnum revolvers knock down 50 magnum loads in a row no problem. These polymer semi autos capacity advantage means nothing if they aren’t reliable with the heavy loadings.

On video, as one could see, grip appeared to be a big variable. In some ways i reckon that mimics actual "flight or fight" scenarios, and knowing if a gun can run that way is great. But equalizing that between tests seems to be a factor here. Not being there, this is just a 2 cent video observation.

My thoughts from first hand observation. Great bears are massive, powerful, and very fast. Situational awareness is your best friend. If a bear charges you from 25 yards, you have 2 maybe 3 shots at best to deter his attack. After that he is on you. I always carried a Ruger SS Blackhawk 4 5/8 barrel in .45 Colt. My hand load was a Nosler 300 grain partition at 1,100-1,200 fps. I own a Smith 1006 10 mm, but if I am playing I bet my life, a revolver in a LARGE caliber is always my carry.

Hi Chuke, The gen 5 Glock 20 has a sharp square cornered extractor where the cartridge feeds up under the claw. You can physically feel the kerchunk as the round attempts to make the transition from magazine to extractor, if you concentrate on that as you shoot, albeit shooting slowly. If you slowly ride the slide by hand when chambering a round it will be evident.
It’s the same with both of my gen 5 20’s. I used a ceramic stone from Brownells to gently break the sharp edges on the bottom of the extractor. They both feed effortlessly now. I’m guessing that there are some small differences between the gen 5 extractors and the gen 3-4 extractors, since my gen 3 Glock 29 extractor has never been an issue.
I know, I know, a factory firearm should be good to go right out of the box. Fortunately, I have a background tuning 1911 pistols and this is a known modification for their extractors. Since performing this simple mod I have had no issues with the gen 5 Glock 20’s with any ammunition, including Underwood. I haven’t tried Bison Barrel yet.

Glock has gen 5 mags due to the new dimensions of the marksman barrel. Not sure why you can't find gen 5 mags when they come with 3. I'm NOT a glock fan Boi, but I do understand basic geometry and the concept of fluidity. Every gun got to use the appropriate magazine except Glock, which had gen 4 mags. I dunno why there's so much shenanigans when it comes to accessory fluidity with glock? But that may be why you're having glock malfunctions.

I just took delivery of my new on G20 gen3 sf, 2 days ago. I shot one rnd. of 180gr JHP and then ran 10ea 220gr. Buffalo Bore Hardcast to see if it would blow up. Well when the smoke cleared there were 10 holes in the paper and I still had my hands. I then ran another 149 rnds of 180gr JHP without a failure. I then put 10 rnds of 200grn Underwood JHPs with no issues I kept 10rds and will use that as my home defense ammo. I had to prove it to myself and feel confident with this gun. It even came with the Black Nitride finish which I really wanted. I was worried after I ordered this gun. I thought Glock was the way to go then saw bad reviews like this one. But now I Love my Glock and it works. I'll be easier on it next time. Only because I can't afford ammo like that. If it's even available.

I have a daughter who limp wristed a Glock and caused it to malfunction. She said Dad something is wrong with this gun. I took and mag dumped two mags. I told her she was limp wristing it. If you have a malfunction with a Glock it’s 95% likely to be operator error and I’m not a Glock fanboy. They’re a soulless piece of plastic but the damned things work. If you can’t shoot a Glock why would I trust your opinion of any other gun? I don’t like being harsh like this but I hate seeing gun reviews where guns get trashed for operator error. It’s like the guys who give Kimber the grace of a couple hundred rounds to break it in but won’t give that same grace to a lower priced handgun. It’s just really sad. 😔

The only thing I have found with Glock is the G20 uses same mag spring as G17…in fact it is the same across the board for the full size line..…compact..so on.. This leads to the spring not keeping up with the slide velocity and…the fact the heavy projos want to stay in place as the gun recoils…depressing the stack.. Change your mag springs out for “extra” power…if I remember right I use Wolff. Hadnt had any issues since. I should note no issues with typical loadings..like 180gr at 11-1200ish fps…only when u get into the heavy hot stuff…. That is what I determined anyways…. Note, will reduce capacity to 14.

Call it the initial break-in period.
Or one can just polish the striker-safety plunger.
Despite the post-broken-in smoothed out trigger (striker-safety plunger), I just didn't like it... the long take-up, the relatively long reset, the general feel, the fact that it was made of polymer.
