40% on the Radions is plenty and it really depends on your nutrient levels.
Don’t change too many things at once. Sounds like your changing lighting while your Alk was swinging. Stabilize. The situation. Keep the KH stable for a few weeks, then start changing your lighting. Swinging Alk is the worse thing you can do. I only say this because of my experience.
are you saying that 0.4 dkh swing is an issue?
Every Acro I buy ends up not extending and eventually dying. Only monti digis have been thriving in my tank
Love ur tank. Great looking aqua scape
I also have the same problem and have a flame angel as well, however I don’t ever see him picking. Some of my acros have polyp extension but the majority dont. I’ve noticed when I feed a ton of reef roids the night before and check on them in the early morning they have more polyp extension. Could be the flow... Possibly the spectrum too.. what a coincidence that in the morning hours while lights are ramping I notice the polyps more extended then during the day. I wonder what it is too..
They will bounce back, I also have a flame and thank god he is not a nipper. it's a hit or miss with angles.
For sure. I'm starting to see some poly improvement, but it's slow.
I would set the LED’s to 50% for the blue and purple LED’s
10% for green, red, and white LED’s, and just leave it alone, some coral take months to acclimate to changes in spectrum. I realized this when I changed LED fixture, even though I set the new fixture at the same intensity, as my older one. Also feeding is good, feed Roids along with Polyp booster
At least once or twice a week.
That along with 10% water changes weekly, and automated dosing, and your tank will be on cruise control.
And if you really want to see a little better growth, do a T5 retro fit, with some ATI bulbs.
Great video and both tanks have awesome scapes. This is my first time to your channel and I like what I see. Your corals imo look awesome with great coloration. Do you dose anything besides 2 part and Mg? I had no polyp extension on my bonsai but when I started dosing Red Sea Coral Colors bam the extension is now great. You could do as I did and send off an icp test. Good luck
Lisa DiMercurio Thanks! I dose AcroPower for my amino.
Your scapes look really nice... What Rock is it you used?
How about some updates on the SPS PE? Have you gotten any conclusions about the issues?
No pe isn't necessarily a bad thing some people believe pe is actually bad if they are growing and colored up dont worry too much, but try aquavitro fuel or acropower maybe run carbon if your not possible warfare going on and try not adjust the light until they either start browning or they have pe then up the light not every 2 weeks just watch the coral they will let you know. my coral beauty nipped and my acros were fine just as long as it's not excessive.
Don’t go crazy with those lights. The more light you give them the more nutrients they need. Try some oyster-feast mixed with reef roids and a lil acropower 🤫that’s my secretsause
Just Subbed Bro! Im a SPS junkie too 😳. And im also having polyp extension problems. I cant figure it out for the life of me! Im only running 4 t5s and a reefbrite led strip.
L.J.s Reef same here! 8 months of growth and extension then all a sudden none. My other acros are turning green...
I have Redsea 170 34gallons are I got in my tank is proteins skim and 27 hryd LEDs light is that work keeping my Acropora corals grow inside my tank...
Growing acropora is all about stability. Keep your salinity, alkalinity, and calcium stable. If you can do those, you can always address higher light later.
Sps acros don't like change
What does 90% par even mean lol... I was interested in hearing your tanks levels and actual par numbers... Sps love flow...more PE with more flow.... But really there's too many variables to guess randomly and without knowing your tanks levels there's no way to pinpoint anything. Good luck 👍
.4/day is A LOT!!!
i see u have a water-cooled pc what are the specs?
970's SLI, i7-4790k @ 4.2ghz, Corsair H110i liquid cooling.
Aaron did you figure out the issue?
It obviously got pissed of by something changed but not for good
Whats your Mg level?
Aaron, I am from Houston, tx as well. Do you have a Facebook so I can add you to a local saltwater aquarium group?
1st year in the the hobby and only one coral lose. ...ug some people have all the luck
looks like your coral are starving
Get more fish and feed your tank! Your corals are starving. They will slowly die. You need fish poo in your tank!
