This is when late night TV was fun. Now days you don’t see fun like this. Thank you Don for putting this together.
What?
@@unclebobunclebob "THIS IS WHEN LATE NIGHT TV WAS FUN. NOW DAYS YOU DON'T SEE FUN LIKE THIS. THANK YOU DON FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER"
Could you hear that?
@Geoffrey Darcy Colbert is trash, Conan is okay.
@Geoffrey Darcy Yeah I am looking in the right places, RUclips videos of older programs when late night was not trash.
Today it's all about the host telling us who to vote for and how bad Trump is and it's just directed towards idiots!
I can't believe I'm watching this....but thats how much I loved the old show.
I literally could watch 5 hours of this.
Watched several of these episodes live with a college roommate who converted me to nightly viewing. My fondest memories of Mary Connolly. What an arm!
Why do I enjoy this so much?? "This is the only thing on NBC right now." Go, Mary!
What a great compilation idea...you will never run out!
11:31 Biff Henderson's Where Are They Now had me rolling on the floor.
Director Hal Gurnee with the incredible cutaway to the JB Horns after Phil hit the shot to win $100. It had Dave bent over with laughter.
Thank you for putting together these bizarre and random and AwEsOmE segments for maximum binging capability‼️‼️‼️ This particular one is extremely close to my aortic valve💯👍😇😇😇
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing this. Brings back great memories.
YES YES YES I was praying when I saw this title that A Day in the Life of Laurie Diamond would be in here and you did it! Thank you Don!!!
This was the Late night i enjoyed..When dave went to cbs and the earlier slot it just wasnt the same.back in jr. high I recall Friday nights being able to stay up at a friends house watching his show..and during the summer.
I agree. I have been glued to RUclips watching all of Dave's NBC years. I think 1987-'93 was some of the best television we've ever seen, Dave was on fire. Thanks Don Giller. Mary Connelly became a producer on Ellen and she seems to have weathered the storm.
Bahaha, the football flying through the shot five seconds into 'Ave Maria' was some of the best comic timing I've enjoyed in ages. I laughed out loud on the bus like an idiot.
"I'm not done telling them who's on the show tomorrow" 😆🤣
Every time Mary is on she is great.
I didn't realize the first time the Staff Talent Show was posted that the intern at 1:18:11 is the sitcom writer Jennifer Crittenden.
Andy Rose... So i go to look her up just because im randomly interested in your post... and cool she wrote for The Simpsons and Seinfeld.. etc
.. then im like wow shes the same age as me.. 50... then BAM.. she was born the same day... thats all i got... enjoy every sandwich
Sick pen trick by Dave @18:31
I came to the comment section just to see if anyone else noticed that! Siiick
She has great throwing mechanics, too bad she wasnt around to show Tim Tebow how to pass a football
That’s my mom!
Impressive pencil throw at 18:30!
That’s Micheal Brecker on sax! Legend
Mary has the better angle being right-handed. Letterman or Simms have the more difficult angle being right-handed. Advantage Mary. David really enjoys throwing the football and he really enjoys Mary. Dave's last skit 'A Day in the Life of Laurie's Diamond', Dave's assistant was funny, especially when he was eating his breakfast, had me laughing out loud. Classic stuff.
Mary hits on $15.
18:45 for a spectacular Isn't She Lovely cover by the band
I like how Paul plays "Roxanne" when Roseanne comes on. ;~)
Paul is amazing at expressing humor musically.
tossing footballs into garbage cans..thereby answering the eternal question; "is this anything?"....
Are there more Mary-centric collections out there? Thanks Don!
Here’s another - ruclips.net/video/7k7-vWb6Ny4/видео.html
@@dongiller This will be great! Thank you. Her dry comedic delivery is great.
Notice how everyone including the audience is smiling and laughing ? Look at peoples faces now!.
I watched Letterman back to the 70’s. Everyone else copied his format and his bits. The “original”. The Football toss lol is such a great example of the genius of the show. Awesome stuff.
70's ?
Anyone know what sequel Dave saw on the plane that was so awful?
Don, is Mary by chance connected with the grape-throwing into the glass of Perrier segment on the 'Day in the Life of the Show' video near the end of the Late Show?
No, that’s Mary Barclay. Mary Connelly is Executive Producer of “Ellen.” And she’s a delightfully nice person.
Yes Late night use to be good!
I'd love to see a Christmas Football collection
All uploaded this last December. Search for “Jay Thomas Collection on Letterman.” There are four parts. The football challenges are in Parts 2, 3, and 4.
Looks like Dave kept a five gallon bucket under his desk.
Oh, man. Please tell me there's are "Biff Henderson's 'Where Are They Now?'" collection ...
Not yet.
That pencil toss/spin tho 😎😁 18:30
Hope you had a nice break from posting, don! You better not take any more time off though
Honestly, I got gun-shy after the bird network blocked six videos within a minute last week. I’m slowly re-upping them with selective edits. We’ll see what happens.
If I was a performer, to have just a single dedicated fan like Don Giller supporting me, would be an amazing feeling. As a nation Lettermaniacs we should hold a vote and elect Mr.Giller our Supreme Leader. ALL HAIL DON!!!
You sound like the tiny aliens in K's locker in "Men in Black II." :)
the great Connie Plescoe!!
Full Connie Plescoe collection here: ruclips.net/video/7k7-vWb6Ny4/видео.html
That thumbnail is precious, they woulda made a cute couple.
Who knew he was a Golden Girls fan!?! 1:21:13
Wait...Eisenhower is dead?!
I wonder what that terrible sequel was that Dave watched on the plane...
Don do you have the viewer mail from the 80's where a guy writes in & says " I aint to smart, but I sure like to party" A flashback occurs where Paulina Porizkova says she likes " dumb guys who drink a lot of beer"
I have every Late Night. I uploaded this one in October 2017:
ruclips.net/video/s5XL8T-q-GE/видео.html
1:16:35 is this the first appearance of the husky idler ?
No; her first was in a Viewer Mail segment on October 2, 1986.
Aw man I wanted to see the Strawberry Top Ten. :(
That comment below was before Dave and Phil went up against her. Now, just before Boomer is to go against her, the advantage she has will be gone, because with Boomer being left-handed, they will virtually have the same window for their throwing motion.
Mary needs to be the Jets QB
Roseanne bucket at 30:25!
I keep watching your shows and they are great. I have a terrible memory but I did watch all these years. Pre political Dave. And I think she is a Boss over on the Ellen show. Started as a page. Cool stuff good story.
Thanks; see the end of the description.
HAHA missed that. IMDB is great.
Don, do you know when Mary left Letterman? She should have been a lifer like Jude Brennan and Barbara Gaines.
I think 1996, when she went to L.A. and was hired as a producer on “Mad About You.”
@@dongiller She is now a producer for Ellen
Gerry Dooley Yes, I know. She’s an incredibly good person.
Since 1982. Feels like the 70’s though.
Ellen before Ellen and more entertaining than Ellen. Worked on Ellen
Still Ellen’s EP.
She had a 30-35% better angle.
And 30-35% more muscle mass.
what ever happened to "Connie Plescoe" the eternally pregnant prouction assistant?
That collection is here - ruclips.net/video/7k7-vWb6Ny4/видео.html
She is a producer for Ellen and she seems to have weathered the storm
Did he nail her too?
Unlikely, since she is a lesbian.
Could have gone the entire segment without seeing Gumby
Gumby?
@@dongiller Bryan Gumbel. Really? Great segment btw.
Ah, sorry.
@@dongiller don’t be.
I liked it better when Bryant and Dave were feuding. Dave stopped the Bryant jokes when they made up.
Mary looks like she'd be really good at driving a truck, too.
@@firdowsakhalif943 and how much change I have in my pocket
The World League of American Football ... that didn't last.
