Very helpful video! I came into possession of a 220f that's suffered a lot over the years and now that I have it, I'm going to bring it back to life. Thanks for the info.
I used a sand blaster to get the rust off the frame on my coleman restore and you could grind down an old wrench to make it fit the frame nut better. Just a couple of ideas! Thanks for video!
Neale Rogers I have thinking about restoring one of my newer models (80s). By sandblasting the whole unit and coating it in cerakote or duracoat. Thanks for your feedback.
The Vintage Man I buy Coleman products from all over and restore them to new condition I have been doing this since I was About 9 or 10 I sent pictures to Coleman it self and they were impressed with the before and after my dad show me how to do it and I got hooked on doing I have done work for the girl and boy scouts and they were very happy with my work
9:15 I just crushed my valve trying to do the exact thing! I watched your previous video hoping I would find the answer but you went right past it on there, or maybe I did. what was the trick?
I picked up one of these at a thrift store. Replaced the pump and generator. I get good seal on the fuel because after I pump it up I can hear it release the pressure if I unscrew the fuel cap. When I turn it 1/4 turn to light, I hear a hiss, but nothing lights. I'm thinking I am not getting fuel flow, but not sure. Any suggestions?
I'm having the same issue with my 220J. Got mine in an estate sale, and it looks to be single owner and well stored, but it did have a tank full of fuel when I got it. Thinking that there's junk in the tube, but mine doesn't disassemble like this. Any help is appreciated!
You may have to wait until you hear spitting noises from the lantern because it can take awhile to get fuel into the tube. Once you hear spitting noise then turn it off, strike a match or get a lighter stick, crack open the valve again and then light it.
I have an issue where I can't regulate brightness on my 220H lamp. In other words it is at full brightness or "off" . Do I need to replace fuel valve or is there anything else I can check? Any help greatly appreciated.
Easy if you already had it apart once, how do you get the valve assembly loose when it's been on since childbirth 40+ years ago?? I need to get to the tank and clean it out.
Try loosing the packing nut at the valve stem, apply a few drops of Marvel Mystery oil or something similar, and then re-tighten. Then work the valve back and forth. If is doesn't loosing up, you will have to disassemble and clean the valve parts.
Not attempting to take over anyone videos, but I have found a site that gives you a step by step guide on how to dissemble, clean, then reassemble a vintage Coleman lantern. I have yet to get my 220E vintage apart and cleaned. I am only posting this link because it advises against using anything to abrasive on the cleaning job. I found this video in order to see it actually done before I start the process. If you have any other questions about what to do they have a lot of resources there. I hope this also helps. www.oldtowncoleman.com/tech/re2lanta.htm
Hi, Air is trapped inside the tank and can not be further pumped. Would the generator need to be dismantled? [for neither will she ignite] Also, does the fuel cap take either a leather of rubber gasket? Thanks again! P.S. Is there a Coleman specialist that i could sent her to for a rebuild?
If I understand your description of your problem correctly, it sounds you have a clog somewhere. Do you hear any sounds when you open the valve? If the answer is no I would say you may need to replace the gas generator. You can find them online for around $10. Note it is hard diagnose issues via text and no I am not aware of any Coleman techs.
I will attempt to re assemble having the courage. Completely dismantled at the moment as was soaking in carburetor solvent. I may be writing you soon. Very cold here and would like to see it light up.
Is the guy drunk? Have indigestion? Anxiety? This is perhaps the worst RUclips how to video I’ve watched on any topic. Dude, organize your thoughts. It’s a disassembly, therefore.... disassemble.

Sweet, like the old style lanterns...
Thanks to you I have rebuilt two lanterns, my 220e and a 220f. Thank u for the video.
That is awesome!

Honestly, I think you would need to build a custom tool to avoid crushing this piece.
Thanks alot! this info helped me fix my old 228E.
I own a plating annd metal refinishing company so I just replated the steel and polished the brass hardware.
How cool, I have been interested restoring some of my lanterns. Polished tanks look amazing.
Thanks for posting this video!
I have the 220f and it works great and now the 220e. Any difference between the two? Maybe the differences between the vents..idk lol.
Great video!
excellent vid! need to clean/refurb my 220f 68...
Thanks and thanks for watching.

My guess would be the gas generator. If the needle is damaged or broke off you would get the same amount of flow no matter your adjustment.

I recommend soaking the thread area with daily with penetrate oil for a week. It doesn't always work but I have had some luck. Thanks for watching.
@@RavenwoodAcres i got a 220f from 1969 i tired to get the air tube out it twisted outta shape.
does anybody know if the burner caps on a 200 B are removable
Not sure about the caps but the burner tubes should be.
The fuel valve is very hard to turn, any suggestions?

Nomad-76, Great video. Where did you get the schematic/nomenclature for what each part is. Parts list? Thanks, Jeff

Hi Nomad - 76. Would you be taking questions on my 220 F 1970?
Sure, what are your questions?

Not drunk, I just have a bad habit of rambling. I will work on that just for you, thanks for the honest feedback.
