My seven year old niece loves this song. She has a good portion of it memorized and sang it for me the other night...whenever we get in the car, it's "Can we hear the 1-2-3-4 song?"
I usually don't listen to music like this. However, the passion in this is just incredible, and passion is what makes music beautiful. Well done, Avett Brothers.
today my best friend played these guys and bon iver for me and here i am... youtubing the shit out of both as soon as i get home. they just made a new fan today!
The Avett Brothers graduated with my brother and sister at my high school. And they came to my homecoming last year.. cause of course.. it was their high school. It's kinda cool cause they had their band when they were in high school and no one didn't really take them seriously.. and they also have a house like 15 minutes away from my house! pretty awesome right? and im thinking they are gonna sing at my graduation this year. im so exited!
Same here.I remember almost buying emotionalism at best buy when it came out but got like Jolie Holland and Spoon or some such. Then they weren't really on my radar till I stumbled onto this video a few yrs. later and was hooked.
oh, gosh, these guys r simply awesome. i've been watching their videos over and over. their music is so raw and that is what makes them so incredible 2 me. rock out, avett brothers!
It's weird...I've listened to songs of theirs before...but the other day I saw a concert with them, on TV. I am now officially hooked. It's so nice to know there is music like this out there with heart, humor, and love behind it.
Hey , I really enjoyed it. Keep it goin as far as you can. I'm just an old lady but I know talent that I can tell you. You are your own and from what I have heard I'm digging it. Hop in you go far and enjoy the ride too.
i love how much emotion they put into whatever they're doing. its incredible. im seeing them this summer for the first time ever at kanrocksas, im too stoked they're my favorite band of all time
This band has been such an inspiration to us. Thank you very much Avett Brothers. If you're ever headed north to Canada, you should come to Edmonton. We'll party.
OOH, so much fun!! This reminds me so much of my younger days on the Gulf Coast in NW Florida, hanging out with so many good musicians and just jammin', partying. What a super little video!
Seth and Scott... I never miss a show when you're around my area. This video really captures the feeling of your live show. You and those you surround yourself with are truly some of the best musicians working today.
Frist part of the song is Talk On Indolence then goes into Will you return. Awesome though, love the video. I'm sure this was something none involved will forget.
i wish you guys would have played this version of the song as your encore! its kinda fitting. keep on inspiring, hopefully radio play doesnt influence you to forget the music you LOVE
My first experience with the band was a neutral milk hotel cover (which was sick btw 👌🏆 my watch history proves I'm now an expert on NMH covers sooo 🤘) I wanted to get some early af avett in when I got here and now I'm hooked. One song and I was on board.. So good job on your originals too. I got 10 yrs of jamifications to catch up on apparently.. and I'm not one bit mad that my Friday night is now officially gone cuz of it 🙈🤙
I missed their set at the Roo, but I caught them in september at Monolith Music Festival. It was the first band we stopped to see that day, and we got pleasantly baked for the performance. Twas awesome
You know, all music is beautiful. If you say certain music is bad, you are wrong to think so. You are talking about you, but blaming your lack of perception on this particular style of music. We do the same thing with people. All music like all people, contains beauty and a soul. For you not to recognize it is not the music's fault. It is YOU who does not recognize. There are millions of people who love this music. Are you going to tell me that all those people are wrong?
Scott's voice over powers everyone else's when he is singing. Don't get me wrong I love seth and am even a fan of jessica lea mayfield, but even at their live shows, scott's voice is so distinct you can always here it clearly. The avett brothers are the best ever!
Of all the Avett Bros videos out there, probably my favorite. I wish they would record this exactly as heard here, with the slowed down beginning of Talk on Indolence overture.
we just posted a video response to your video! and we wanted to explain the reason, your video for 'Will You Return' inspired us to create a show where by we cram bands into the back of a caravan and film them performing. Hopefully one day we'll get you guys in there. x
Saw them live. They are a must to see Live !!!
this song is all about life, friends, music, and creativity in that order... im sold as a fan for life
How did I Live 25 years before I found these guys. I coulda used em a few years ago.
I love how they can have ten different versions of every song and they all sound amazing.
15 years and I still love this video
My zune back in 2012 introduced me to this song and this band! always one of my favs.
My seven year old niece loves this song. She has a good portion of it memorized and sang it for me the other night...whenever we get in the car, it's "Can we hear the 1-2-3-4 song?"
And a single, melancholic tear slides down the cheek of everyone watching....
Appropriately funny...such a bright light in this world.
I usually don't listen to music like this. However, the passion in this is just incredible, and passion is what makes music beautiful. Well done, Avett Brothers.

First Avett video I watched in 2009, and I still consider myself late to the party.
Same here.I remember almost buying emotionalism at best buy when it came out but got like Jolie Holland and Spoon or some such. Then they weren't really on my radar till I stumbled onto this video a few yrs. later and was hooked.

th slow version on talk on indolence keeps pulling me back in.... i keep finding myself singing it weeks after the last time i heard it
You guys are my hero's in every aspect of everything.
I love just how raw this is. So many bands today wouldn't be able to do something as awesome as this.
I remember when I first saw this video back in '08. They rocked out on this for sure!
Hey , I really enjoyed it. Keep it goin as far as you can. I'm just an old lady but I know talent that I can tell you.

They played this exact combo at the orange peel in Asheville NC in December of 2008 and I cried of joy.
This video makes me so freakin' happy! Loved seeing this song live in Lexington last week.
