Paramilitary groups confronted the police in the heart of kyiv and drove out President Yanukovych. They installed a new government.
In the commonly accepted media narrative, they were presented as the heroes of the revolution. They were on the right side of the barricades. In fact, they were far-right rioters, now heavily armed.
They are called Right Sector, Azov or Svoboda. They created veritable parallel armies, largely uncontrolled. In Odessa, they committed a mass massacre without being punished. Forty-five people met a tragic end, under the radar.
How could this have escaped our notice? Why did the Western democracies not speak out?
Probably because the Ukrainian nationalist militias were playing the role of auxiliary soldiers in a much larger war. The Ukrainian revolution was massively supported by American diplomacy.
