When there is Listening comprehension on certain subjects, even airplanes cannot fly during that time (not to disturb) Like this, Korean SAT is really important for Korean students since student can only take this once a year. And as Prof. have mentioned, all education from young age to high school is to get a good score on Korean SAT and go to good Univsersity. On that day, parents are standing outside in front of school gate( where their kids take test) praying and waiting whole hours (about 7hrs)

It's NOT only in Korea that is like this, but in Taiwan, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, etc. students in each of those Asian Countries all have to take their Countries version of a SAT. And, they can only take it once.

There is an essay type test, Non-Sul(논술), in order to get into university in Korea as well. It is non-scheduled, and held in some universities only. Many of students who have great academic grades may be given chances to take the test. Those who pass the test may or may not be needing great scores from the Suneng Test depends on each university's policy for admissions. What I just wanted to comment here is that the Suneng Test is not the only one way to go to university in Korea.

I work with middle schoolers, here in Korea. The academic pressure is 100% real-
Yesterday was the Korean SAT, and my work started at a later hour (for the high school students to get there in time). I got off of work at 4:20p, and parents were waiting, walking up and down the street, waiting for the students. The pressure is so REAL- it’s palpable

I have no doubt. I just hope it's not too much to handle as the one student mentioned.

If the entire country is willing to reroute traffic and orchestrate their individual schedules over ensuring kids make it to an exam on time, you know that academics are everything. Bombing isn't an option because there is no alternative. Employers will actively look down upon and discriminate against job applicants that haven't attended one of the country's prestigious universities.

Hello, I am a high school senior. We are working on a project called "Do We Need College Scholastic Ability Test?" Can we refer to the information shown in this video in our project?

How many Korean students can't even read at the age of 18? Not many in my opinion. How many in usa?

The 1st and 3rd students would be considered failures. Because they would not complete/succeed in Korea, their parents took them abroad
