The Olive Knife is AMAZING - It is INDESTRUCTABLE & it is a Great Slicer & just a BEAST of a Knife - They also warranty thee Knife for LIFE so yes it may be a bit costly but it will last a LIFETIME ! The Blades are made in Africa & they get shipped to the U.S. & they are refined (Heat treated & tumbled ,sharpened & Assemble in thee U.S). - Olive Knives also has a pretty Awesome Folder named the Lenta & it is TUNGSTEN CARBIDE | DROP POINT | SCANDI GRIND with a pretty cool locking system . They are also not Cheap ($399) & it's because all the materials are High quality .
I've got this GM fixed but with brown leather it's small for sure I put a damned design poison bead on it seemed to help. Happy Sunday my left handed brother ✌🏻
The GMF needs a fob with, maybe, a bead. The skeleton style is for minimal weight. I'd do a paracord wrap. The price is comparable with competitors. I have no idea why the Beaver has that stupid hole. Both are for EDC. That Olive is a beast. That's a special grind. KC reviewed it a while back and bet crap out of it. It did well, but it's expensive. That massive hunk of Elmax and the unique and complex grind adds up.
That Olive looks like a solid knife but man, it sure looks like a TRC Poheim or a South Pole (even the sheath). Not a bad thing, just an observation. Thanks for posting!
With that little ferro rod, pull it perpendicular to the blade rather than down it. You're basically trying to scrape that black paint off then once you expose the ferrocerium, silver colored material then scrape it quick, and you should get a decent spark.
I wish Kizer would stop using D2 in their fixed blades. I was so glad to get away from all the folders using it, and it's actually worse for fixed blades. D2 has low toughness and low corrosion resistance. Edge retention is decent but no better than their 154CM, which is overall better. Personally, Nitro-V or 14C28N is so much better in a fixed blade.
i agree, it was like there must have been a huge sell on D2 steel last year because everybody was using it in almost every knife it seemed.....not a fan
@@christopher_martin The proliferation of D2 started a towards the end of the last decade and the market was saturated with it by the start of the pandemic. On less expensive knives, it was a good alternative to 8Cr13Mov. On more expensive knives, it wasn't great. Companies have slowly been moving away from it in the last few years and that's a good thing.
That Olive knives look like a horrible attempt at a Convex, but it has like 4 different grind lines. For sure not a Scandi grind. A Scandi grind is much more abrupt and is instantly recognizable.

I have the Olive Arbor, and that thing crushes so hard. I love it.. They did such a good job.

The Olive grind is soooooo nice. Calling Fibonacci is kind of silly, not sure it makes it better in any way.
The Olive looks like a great knife
looks like a sabre grind to me

Hi Lefty. I keep hearing that the heat treat on some Italian made steel isn’t right. So I stay away. Do you have thoughts on that? See ya
Yea usually its soft
@ Thx Kev
They did that GMF in a cool blackwash or some sort of dark finish a while back, and I always wanted one but never did.
Good stuff but $400 for the Olive… they must think they’re Benchmade 😂
Yo love the content
Thank you dude
A fixie is a fixie is a fixie
They should put a pic of every knife in the hand of an average sized man.

Better than aus8 or 440. I like D2 in budget blades and 14c in my better blades.
@@tray22 i agree totally, i have a lot of D2, i would prefer s30v or my fav CPM3V
@@tray22 Aus 8 is just the Asian version of 440 so i do not care for it at all or 8cr13mov

Fibonacci Grind
$145 … uh nope.
