I’ve put 360,000 miles on klr 650’s I love these bikes. I will be retiring my gen 2 here shortly for a gen 3 I will rebuild the gen 2 and hold onto it for my son. It currently has 230,000 miles on it
I purchased my first motorcycle this year at the end of April. I bought the KLR650 adventure abs. I am having a blast. This motorcycle is not a one trick pony and doesn’t pull any punches. I throw my spotting scope and bino’s and scout for big game.
I just purchased a 2024 yes I’ve down sized I am very pleased to handling. The price is good. I really could use the kickstand on center but overall very pleased with the bike. Great video. Thank you
Did you know your gear . At least in this video. I have been on a klr since 2012 .I have a 2009 and love the old girl . The other part is Cardo . I have used them for years .
There was no gear indicator, and I had forgotten it was a 5 speed! Ha! But I never felt like I was in the wrong great or anything, so I didn't really miss it. Yeah, love Cardo! If you need stuff I got a discount code! (Cheap plug) Thanks for checking out the video!
That is the exact bike I am trying to find, an S in the grey! This has been a bucket list bike of mine for years, and now that it’s offered in the S! Ride safe!
It's odd that Kawasaki didn't change the cam chain tensioner when they did the redesign to EFI. That's been a known issue with these bikes as long as they have been making them. I like the KLR. It's a good bike, but kind of a top heavy pig. If I was going to buy a 650 thumper then the Honda 650L or R would probably be what I would buy. Or the DR650
They're going to be set up when Moto America comes to Atlanta next month, so I hope to check them out. I've done a quick demo ride on the 450ss and was pleasantly surprised by it, packing a good punch in a small platform, so I would like to try some others.
@@ghostontwowheels yeah but have you experienced the highway vibrations? You can swap a seat, and change handlebars for better ergos, you can't change the fact that the engine chugs oil and vibrates your bones apart on the highway.
I’ve heard a lot of people say the T7 isn’t great for distance. It’s almost in a class by itself off-road, but for long trips the KLR is better in most regards.
Well, that is a true statement! Admittedly I haven't been able to test these in the dirt side by side to compare, but yeah, sometimes people just want a less expensive option, especially if in their opinion it's good enough for the money. Besides, you can usually find these on sale too!
@@ghostontwowheels that’s the thing, I’ve done the TAT twice (back and forth) every BDR at least once, and the klr managed perfectly fine. If you want to do jumps, ride 70mph down gravel roads more power to ya . I like the 300+ mile range and the carry ability of the klr. Also, if you ever run these side by side, pick them both up from a dirt nap, amazingly you’ll find the (heavier?) klr easier to pickup … I think it’s a hidden gem that everyone loves to hate so they don’t have to admit how good it really is … 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I get that "better" is pretty subjective, but the klr650 has an unbalanced, uncomfortable engine, with ANCIENT tech, high seat height, no power, it vibrates on the highway, consumes oil new. The Tenere 700 is a different beast entirely.

Nice! They seem pretty bulletproof. 230,000 miles on a motorcycle is ridiculous! Awesome!
What'd you have to replace in those 230,000 miles? Was that all on a single top end?
Did you do the doohicky on any of your KLRs?
Brother you gotta just make a video talking about your bike. That's very impressive
Just got mine last month.....the traveler. I see this as a pretty much a mini bike for big grown up dudes.
Ha! That's a great way to describe it!

KLR is so much fun!
I was surprised by it. I'd heard it was solid bike, but yeah, a more fun than I expected!
I’m about 10K into my KLR demo ride, and so far I’m loving it
That's awesome! There is something about the simplicity of it. Some call it old, but if it ain't broke... Thanks for stopping by!
Has the basics but definitely gets the job done. Seems to be a crowd favorite

I like the white, I just bought the grey in the S model.

I'm still mad I missed this. I'd finally got to ride the z900 cafe

Some say if maintained to proper torque they are reliable
Is the CF Moto demo coming your way? I got to try out the 450SS and the 800NK last weekend. I am totally getting the 800NK for my next bike.
Funny - I went to a CFMoto demo. I thought they were some of the cheapest feeling POS’s for 2 wheels.

@@ghostontwowheels I couldn’t believe how great the 450 sounded stock. It puts my Ninja 650 to shame 😂
You'd like that for mileage over the T7?!?!? Make that assessment again when you are on the highway at 70+
Yeah... The seating and ergos for me is better than the T7.

YEP................. it is ridiculous he even mentioned that...... 2 completely diff bikes......
Royal enfield himalayan 450cc 40hp more cheap and more power😂
Oh yeah? that's cool. Hopefully I can check one out some time!
