The refresh rates of CRT's for gaming is insane, not until recently modern digital TV's are getting those extra milliseconds of response time. Analog technology was instant on that sort of thing, there is a trade off, of course, but you'll be surprised how well a CRT works in modern standards.
Stuff like this makes me happy that HDMI to AV adapters exist. ZZZ already feels like an early 2000's type of game. This would just be the cherry on top
@@zefirshaman On a 15KHz 60Hz TV, maybe. I know that the high pitched whining and flicker on a CRT TV drives me batty and that's before getting to how bad composite video looks.
@@frostdragon_7887 Nah, it’s late 80s to early 90s. The Sony CRT is from 94, with similar models going back to about 85, and DVD replaced VHS by 2000. The whole cyberpunk theme is from the 80s as well but there’s a lot of influence in the clothing styles from 90s punk fashion, especially with Anby and Nicole and all the crop tops. Some of the cars like Nicolle’s hatchback are from the late 80s as well but it wouldn’t make sense for someone like her to be driving a new car. In general there’s a whole “hacker” vibe that seems to be loosely inspired by the Hackers movie which took place in 1988 but was released in 1995.

Oh, my god, this is so dope to play it on an old tube TV 😊!! I grew up in the 80s so you know it’s making me almost want to tear up a little. Stop it I can’t handle all of this overwhelming beauty LOL 😅😂!!
Tried playing this game on a high refresh rate CRT PC monitor (640x480 @ 160Hz) just to see how it works, and it's pretty solid setting aside the shadow aliasing that happens.
thanks for adjusting screen size for pc monitor users but it's a bit to narrow i think you got it to 3:4 instead of 4:3 anyways i think you're not utilizing your crt to the fullest like i believe a pvm can go higher than 480i also giving a crt a higher resolution than it could display is most always a good idea as it makes text easier to read
You need an HD CRT. Nets you widescreen and readable text. Also change the game resolution to proper 4:3 res - this looks like squished 16:9 res. I should try playing it on my Plasma TV ngl.
Can you imagine showing this game to a late 90s early 2000s gamer? They’d probably lose their minds. If you showed this to me back then, I would call you a liar and say this was some super amazing animation you pretended was a game.

Not only does it look amazing on an old CRT, but it actually fits the game's visual aesthetic well.
Literally TV Gameplay
Bro making me wanting to pull up the fucking 40 inch crt Phillips i have stashed just for the memes
Lets Get it
40 inch is among the biggest in history, dude. That's really cool.

40 inch??? are you serious that's humungus for a crt

Never thought a modern game would look so appealing on an old display...

Holy shit you're right, it does have a very Jet Set Radio kind of vibe
Early 2000s games didn’t have anything in common with ZZZ

I believe that crt is best technology to show true colours, all new TV systems can’t mimic this spectrum, but they more practical.
Same, also the sound always sounds better, i miss my old tv
The way it was intended
For some reason this fits the aesthetics very well, looks great!
