Aldo Spadaro Terrific job. One minor request, set the camera on the neck of the guitar so we can see what you are doing in the early part of the video, otherwise perfect. I love the explanation of the notes.
Your playing and videos are high quality and like a delicious piece of cake, I don’t want to miss a Morsel. I love The Rolling Stones work during this period. Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street are a peak for them. Mick Taylor took them to greatness.
Real fortunate that I found you. You have fresh quality throughout your instructions. Love it! I miss that humor I enjoyed back in the day. Send out more vids! Keep it smack’in!!
Yeah, his playing with Mayall's band is outrageously cool. Love the album, BARE WIRES. Apparently, That's what The Stones heard that made him a contender to fill Brian's shoes, so to speak.
What can I say but another winner. I've never attempted this song or solo before and you've inspired me to give a go. If I get stuck, I'll know where to come to. Thanks for your time and effort in putting this together.
Absolutely awesome video man. Super fine. Touches my soul. I was 16 when Sticky Fingers came out. Your presentation moves me. The Stones should tighten up their live shows to this level you present here in honor of Charlie Watts. No more just slug through the songs but real feeling, drive like you just demonstrated. Many thanks. I will search to see if you have a long run of this to play along with for a novice such as I am. Makes me want to live and get busy and I’m 66.
Nice analysis dude. I really like that you dig into the theory behind the solo, people can learn so much more than just the solo from your video. Keep up the good work!!
Never thought I’d be able to play this but now I can, dead flowers solo was spot on as well, you should do another Mick Taylor lesson, maybe a live gimme shelter or something else from the 72/73 tours
Wonderful play through and theory analysis even though I barley know what you're talking about. The play through alone would put it in the top tier of videos for me. Thank You!
Wow friggin amazing lesson. I enjoyed the breakdown on Mick's amp settings. It's interesting he chose to use a neck pick-up which tends to emphasize the mid and lower-range of sounds but then used a treble booster. Fascinating. Nice job on disecting each individual note of the solo and how they fit into the scale. Isn't it ironic that Taylor probably has no clue about formal music theory yet his playing seems to purposely fit into these boxes? I mean, he probably never thought, "Now, I'm gonna play a flatted 9th & then, a major 6th, etc." He is a very intuitive player. It's such a blast to analize his playing. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this and help us learn. Big up!
Too right. I also find myself soloing more often on the neck pickup, but hadn't thought about a treble boost. Very neat. And right too about Taylor's ability to find lovely chord notes in his solos just more or less by feel, and how cool it is to see Aldo break it down by theory.
One of my Top 3 Rolling Stones Songs because of the Riff and the End Solo...........Very HardRockin ' Ace Frehley was my First Guitar Influence and this Solo is Very Frehley Kinda Playing..............!
"...Good for you Spider...." ;) Great vid man! Cool info! I also dig the explanation on the studio stuff with regards to compressors, parallel channels etc...
Thanks, well it's fun trying to try to create an old characteristic sound in a modern day ITB world. It's possible I think if you know what you want and hear it in your head. It's only a matter of time until the old technology becomes obsolete and a new age of recording provides us a quality that matches the past proven technology in a blind test. And that's from me, basically a stubborn tube-amp purist who chooses smelly and smoking amps over properly working ones...;) Unless we give ourselves the chance to listen trough really high end monitors and trough a high end recording console instead of the internet, to get to another level of nuance and detail and the possibility to compare.
@@AldoSpadaroOfficial I hear Brian May is using a wireless guitar to record! After you have digitalized it and broadcast it and it still sounds good enough for one of the most critical artists ever born the argument against digital is kind of over. I doubt you will EVER beat an AC30 in a small room with a treble booster plugged in by wire to a Guitar for THAT sound. Same with the other greats but in the real world where quite often that would give the health and safety person a heart attack, a digital set up can very closely recreate most anything at levels that won't get you arrested is the way to go now.
Hi Shane, try this link: www.aldospadaro.com/product/sway-guitar-solo-transcription/ Let me know if this works, at the moment I seem to have issues with the site as well! Regards,
for me, the thing that makes this solo really sing and is often forgotten about is the supporting string section that elevates it to another level.. great interpretation nonetheless.
Thank you for the great breakdown! I have one question - During the 16-17 minute mark you talk about Mick's transition over the Bb Major chord for the few notes. I was just wondering what scale those few notes would be?
Well, good question. If we want to make this into a scale over Bb we go in the mixolydian territory. Mixolydian with the line from 6 to #5 to 5 makes it sound augmented for a brief moment. But you can also just say C blues over Bb regardless ;)
@@AldoSpadaroOfficial That makes more sense now. Yeah, C Blues sounds like what Mick was thinking for those lines. Is it just normal pentatonics in second form? Thank you
Taylor was the best guitarist to have ever played his wonderful trade in this legendary band. Just an opinion. The loss of Jimmy Miller & Taylor verified a decline in standards.
Understand what you mean, and agreed. But hey, this is a while back...But yeah, for those iconic sounds, a tiny tube amp still feels better to the ears. ruclips.net/video/Z39IsmlDLpw/видео.html this is with a tiny champ miced up. Not a entire different sound world but it does sit different in the mix. gr,
@@AldoSpadaroOfficial oh for sure I mean for ease of use amp sims are great and have gotten.pretty much 95 percent of the way there now...but yeah a small amp cranked is just the sound isn't it....Great playing though I love this solo it's like the other side of the coin of hard rock...

That would be great man such a good solo, probably one of his best, nice one
I think you are doing a fantastic job with these, hope you will be doing some more.
