Thank you for accidentally educating me on crop rotation. This city boy enjoyed your video. I was just researching Sunflowers for my side yard. But it was nice to be reminded that many people still till the land for love and respect for the land.
About the pigweeds, I have a suggestion: if you're in the field and see one, walk over and pull it up by the roots. I've manually hoed large fields in my youth, and it never ceases to amaze me how detached some people have become from their livelihood...
What squash variety did you plant? What about that native Ozark Wild Squash? Although inedible, it is thought to be the predecessor of the 3 Sisters cultivars.
Hello there! I'm in Tanzania and I want to become a farmer . I have farm of a size 80 archer. I want to do sunflower only will this be a good idea? Please advise on this
No, its a bad idea to grow just one thing. If you plant only 1 thing your soil will become poor after a few years and your input costs will keep going up. Especially the insecticide, fungicide, and fertilizer costs.
Yes, a simple cover crop for weed control and water retention. I did not see anyone using triticale for that, is there any advantages or disadvantages using triticale vs rye?
Guys do in the Dakotas all the time. They love the seed. Just be careful with younger cattle-the stalks are high in lignin. I recommend checking out KSU, NDSU and SDSU for articles on the subject.
Aloha hi great presentation thank you. Where is the best place to get the sunflower seeds.? I live in Hawaii is there a distributor here do I go to Johnny seats? Can you assist me with a distributor of the sunflower as well as the sun him I like the fact that it’s nitrogen fixing and it grows quick can use this compost the plant my fruit trees thank you
They aren't trying to actually get squash to harvest and sell, but rather to hold down other weeds and create diversity in the soil as different root systems are beneificial to different bacteria etc. Everyone forgets Below ground is just as important as above ground
Even though im not a farmer i have missed these videos they are just great info.

Excellent blend! Thanks for sharing! Yes, Sunflowers are excellent for cover crop integration as well as soil building!
you are both heros of are great planet thank you
Thanks. I have a long row of sunflowers and I was wondering what I could plant around them.
Were the sunflowers and the other covers drilled all in one mix after the first crop was harvested?

What? Why?
Theres too many acres
@@BrownCreature thing makes over a million seeds probably worth it depending on your production scale

How do you harvest the sunflower to create an income?
Are sunflower a good companion to tomatoes?
A few would be good to attract beneficial insects but too many would create shading issues

Very nice
Would you map a parcel for a newbie "farmer" for a fee?
can we graze after the sunflowers are harvested?
you can, but it destroys your winter cover

What makes sunflower good at breaking up compaction
They have a very aggressive tap root that goes deep chasing water down through the soil profile.
What time of the year do you plant the sunflowers?
so who will reply to this comment? will it be an official rep of monsanto or a troll getting paid? :)
its a shame these guys got arrested for jan 6
are they ok? are they free now?
We have no viable sunflower market here in MO so this is zero help whatsoever as a replacement for double crop beans.
sorry to hear. Why did you watch the video?
