  • Controlling your CNC like a ROCK STAR!! // TUTORIAL
Many people like to use a gamepad or controller to move the CNC router around to position it for zeroing out the axis before a job, or moving it out of the way to put down a new workpiece. I have s few left over instruments from my RockBand days, so I decided to use that! :D
This video walks you thru how to set it up and hopefully inspires you to use a unique controller of your own! :)

LOL. I see what you did there at the beginning. You are a rockstar Wes. So this is the appropriate controller for you.

I definitely think the Wiimote would be the best for the practicality side. But you can't beat the awesome factor of the guitar.
I personally liked the longer format tutorial Style.
    Awesome. Thanks for sharing!!!

HomeGamer Engineer yeah, totally would be cool! Especially with the steering wheel attachment! 😂

Geeksmithing I was just thinking of using the buttons. But, yeah.... If you grab the accelerator data directly from that thing you can control it in a very interesting way.
      Random thought...
Then to bring it full circle you could put a foam board on the table with a race track drawn on it. The program could slowly and steadily keep incrementing the Z axis down. After multiple laps you would either have to stay on exactly the same course you previously carved or risk stalling the router.
Of course this game would get very expressive very fast. You need at least 2 x-carves just to play head to head (that doesn't even account for potential damage of intentionally trying to stall your router)

Bobby Duke Arts CNC, yeah. The controller, nah, beside cutting rectangular pieces out with it. It's more for fine tuning the position on the workpiece before starting a cut

I didn't know you could do this. I'm gonna have to do something for my cnc. But I might go with something a bit more usable like a USB drum set 😆

Geeksmithing LOL yeah but it's the crazy end goal that leads to the succinct solutions in the end if all you have is limitations then all you have is the most efficient solution . 👍
