Hi Everybody, Please listen to her carefully. She is extremely grateful to a devout Muslim lady & thinks she was God-sent to save her. This lady was a wife of a Pir, a sufi cleric, who surely would have known tenets of Islam & all other faiths better than the mobs on the streets of all the towns on both sides of the newly created border. We ALL;Hindus,Muslims & Sikhs had gone berserk at that time. This video reminds us that good people from all faiths unite to fight divisive& destructive forces.
i am from lahore and its really lahori accent of punjabi. During partition, prople of karachi and dehli were celebrating freedom but punjab was suffering. i heard more interviews of sikh old women. Those sikh old women and our grand mothers have similar accent of speaking punjabi. Both side suffered we cant blame one side. i heard sikh and hindu ladies they were telling sad stories and i personally met people in pakistan, they were telling about killing of their loved ones. But all of them were telling, in punjab sikh and muslims were not only comfertable with each other but also they respect each other. Though there were sad stories, but also there are lot of stories of saving muslims from sikhs and saving sikhs from muslims. i dont know much about other provinces but people of punjab were close to each others rather they were muslims or sikhs.

Thanks again for sharing this video. I cried a lot listening to her story. My mother came from Sialkot the same way. Thank God she made it. We need to urge for a peaceful memorial for the victims on both sides. May be that will give us the strength to accept the tragedy and break the walls and build strong bridges. shame on British to have allowed this, if there is any God he must be embarrassed.
I am a Pakistani and i feel really sorry from bottom of my heart for what you went through maa ji. Her accent is amritsari which is very similar to Lahore accent.

This great lady,Kaushaliyamasi passed away last fortnight. Many friends & relatives are paying homage to her on this side of the Partition line & are visiting RUclips to view this clip. They are all overwhelmed by many sincere comments and good wishes made here by our brothers on the other side of this man-made divide. On their behalf, I thank you all in Pakistan.

It's time that people from both nations deal with what happened in the past in order to move forward as neighbours and not as enemies. We need to understand that there were good & bad people on both sides. There are always wicked cowards who began such things & there were also those who gave in to their fears & prejudices and went along with the flow. But the few who were stalwart, who remained true to their convictions are worthy of being remembered & celebrated for their courage. Both nations need to seek healing for what was done during that time & lessons must be learnt so that bitterness and hatred would not perpetuate into the future generations. My grandmother came from Gurdaspur but lost her youngest daughter on her way to Lahore. i assume there must be lot in Indian Punjab too to tell the same...
There are many such stories about Hindus & muslims helping & protecting each other during those brutal times. The only difference is that each of the many good person was able to help only few people, while each of the evil person was able to terrorize & brutalize a whole lot of people. hat is why the memories are so painful. & even today the same thing continues, & the evil ones are making it ever so difficult for the good to survive. This is the common thread between the people
i wish partition wouldnt have happened. though all in my family survived while trekking from Rawalpindi to New Delhi.... I am also quite shocked as to why; muslim mobs were hell bent on raping and killing innocent folks Thanks to kiran pandit for showing so much courage in uploading a difficult chapter and sharing her personal life. One good take away...i love the accent..reminds me of my Darji and mataji (RIP)...SSA to all.
+Justaneet There is no "Indian Punjabi" dialect. She is speaking in what is called Majhi or Markazi or Prestige dialect (West Punjab dialect of central Punjab area called Majha which includes Sialkot, Gujaranwala, Lahore, Amrtisar, Gurdaspur and some surrounding areas too). I suspect what you mean by "Indian Punjabi" (East Punjab)is Doaba dialect ..spoken below and east of the areas I mentioned above by mostly uneducated rural folks.
rizwan shareef thanks for your comments. Bro she speaks the same punjabi as my grandmother did. My grandma was from lahore and migrated to uttar pradesh.

This is the common thread between the people
Please can you do the english sub-titles?

i wish partition wouldnt have happened. though all in my family survived while trekking from Rawalpindi to New Delhi....
I am also quite shocked as to why; muslim mobs were hell bent on raping and killing innocent folks
Thanks to kiran pandit for showing so much courage in uploading a difficult chapter and sharing her personal life.
One good take away...i love the accent..reminds me of my Darji and mataji (RIP)...SSA to all.
My city is language and Mata g speak our pahari potwari language
First Punjab, then Kashmir. Hope it stops here. 😔
Lot of people r commenting on her punjabi accent. Idk how u can tell the difference. Can someone plz explain?
+Justaneet There is no "Indian Punjabi" dialect. She is speaking in what is called Majhi or Markazi or Prestige dialect (West Punjab dialect of central Punjab area called Majha which includes Sialkot, Gujaranwala, Lahore, Amrtisar, Gurdaspur and some surrounding areas too). I suspect what you mean by "Indian Punjabi" (East Punjab)is Doaba dialect ..spoken below and east of the areas I mentioned above by mostly uneducated rural folks.

rizwan shareef thanks for your comments. This lady survived the horrors of the Partition to tell the world who helped her and how grateful she is to 'pir di voti'
People on both sides of the man-made divide are the same and have the same love for human values. Politicians divided us in 1947 and they are still dividing us in 2018.
Masiji is no more today.
God bless you!
so sad
mjhe bhr afsoos hota hai esi batein sun kar main musalman hun par mjhe bhi pata hai k partition k waqt kuch ese log begairat the jin men muslman , sikh aur hindu bhi shamil the jinhoon ne apne mazhab ki laj bhi na rakhi logon ne apni bachyon ki izzaten bachane k lie unhain kuen men bhi phenka tha
We should learn lesson from history
