I’m a Pitt fan who has cheered for Tennessee from afar for years and years now. This was my first visit to Neyland Stadium and I was blown away by the stadium, the band and the fans. I can’t wait to go back sometime soon, when they aren’t playing Pitt, so I can cheer on the Vols with everyone else! An unreal gameday atmosphere! GBO

09.11.21 - They prayed before they even started the pregame show!! THIS is what I love and miss about Tennessee!! Sigh. But we need to talk... How in the world is it that University of Michigan still takes the cake for this year's classiest pregame and half time show to commemorate the day and pay tribute to those who lost their lives as well as those civil servants who helped tirelessly for weeks on end. Michigan has the classiest spiel I've heard yet when it comes to announcing the national anthem. Come on UT - you had one chance, you knew the day was coming, you've been practicing all summer, this was not a surprise... you could have come up with a much better pregame show and halftime too that paid tribute to America and those affected on 9/11. We are southerners who love our country, we are Volunteers with a reputation and a history of love for this land, we are Tennessee and we are patriotic Americans from our roots up. Are you really going to let a northern university outdo you like this? We're better than that... I thought we were at least. Gotta tell you though... I still feel like we could have done so much better. Somehow we let the University of Michigan show us up with one hell of a phenomenal pregame show on 9/11 and again during their half time show. Go watch it. It's unreal and I'm not moved to tears very often but they got me on that one... We definitely could have done better.
The pregame has not been changed unless to add more players for any historical event at Tennessee. The band has a military background as it was formed shortly after the civil war and part of the ROTC program. The band continued during both world wars, 9/11, the financial crisis, and now Covid. Now part of the department of athletics it still keeps it’s military background. Although the pregame will never change its drill, the halftime changes weekly. There was a remembrance of 9/11 on that day because I was currently in the pride when this happened. Unless he has graduated or needed to retire from the pride there is currently one member of the band that just got done serving in the army. He is not the first and is not the last band member that has served both his state and country.
I’m glad they incorporated Spirit of the Hill into the pregame but it’s the worst fight song in the history of the world. It’s Micky Mouse meets row row row your boat. Just please change it to duple meter instead of 6/8 PLEASE. It’s will totally change the spirit of the piece! Spirit of the Hill!

The pre game show for UTK has not changed in 100 years. They were not going to change it for one day.
As a Tennessee fan, we don’t need your ass… keep cheering for Michigan and stay out of our orange! #GBO #VFL
