So good. For those of you that weren't "there" when this first came out, Vulgar Display was just unheard of for the times- the sound, riffs, recording quality, drum mix- just colossal. I rode my bike to a record store to buy this and listened to it non-stop. Saw 'em on this tour with Sacred Reich too (if you don't know them- GET the "Independent" album- or just about any of 'em).

I like to think of this song as one of a trilogy.
1/ I'm broken - Being at your lowest and feeling hopeless
2/ Mouth for war - Deciding to pick yourself up; beginning to ignore the 'false narratives' and the losers that spread them; and stick two fingers up to all naysayers
3/ A new level - Pushing onwards and feeling stronger by the day

And my soul lies in every one
    The releasing of anger
Can better any medicine under the sun

To close your eyes to what's real
    No comprehension to fail
I vacuum the wind for my sail
Can't be the rest, let others waste my time
Owning success is the bottom line

One of my favourite metal songs. A Dimebag masterpiece. This is THE metal riff. Anselmo vocal line is awesome and all musicians are incredibles. Video clip looks like simple but when you heard and watch it, you can feel strenght sensation on your body.
30 years late, this song and the sound are actually and incredibly moderns like the rest of the album. More than a lot a current metal band. Vulgar display of power forever

What Scott Ian said holds true...PanterA saved metal. CFH and Vulgar came at a time when true metals pulse was real weak. PanterA napalmed all in their way. It was truly a great time!

    • @jeppyjep

Dont get me wrong. I love Pantera but they arent the savior of metal like people stated. In the 90s, we have bands like Death, Morbid Angel, Entombed Atheist, Dismember, Cannibal Corpse and other death and black metal bands who survived the 90s. Pantera saved the mainstream scene, but the metal scene was never dead to begin with.
