Who Does Florida Hire To Replace Billy Napier? (Florida Coaching Search)

- The Billy Napier experiment at Florida has turned out to be a disaster. When Napier was hired he looked like a homerun type of get and seemed too good to fail yet he has. Supposedly Florida is planning to fire Napier as it is more of a when than an if at this point. They apparently have a booster willing to pay Napier's 26 million dollar buyout and they had an emergency meeting on Sunday. Napier is 12-16 since becoming Florida’s head coach and the Gators once fired a coach for going 6-7 after going to the SEC title game only a few years earlier. So as the coaching carousel ramps up early, or so it seems, let's look at the possible candidates who could replace Napier at Florida. Some are crazy and unrealistic while some are true possibilities.

If the giants fire Brian Daboll, Florida should hire him has super bowl winning experience, and college experience at Alabama
Bobby Petrino would be my first phone call. BP is a proven SEC winner.
Matt Rhule is a great coach and would be a boon for Florida, but I think he fits the mold of a B1G coach. He did play there after all. Personally, I hope he stays and retires in Lincoln. I'm not a diehard Huskers fan, but college football feels right to me when Nebraska is playing near the top. They were so much fun to watch back in the day.
Nebraska is a better job than Florida as well.
@@hughgpauwels Yeah, I think Nebraska's NIL collective is underrated as well. And, that fanbase is unlike any other. Intense and loyal. I think most of the state would allow the university to take a bit out of their paycheck each month to fund that team.

@@GalathNox Yeah they have a blue blood pedigree and history and fan base. Florida is not a blue blood. Only had two successful decades and never been undefeated in school history. Florida has been more successful overall in the last 20 years than Nebraska but that doesn't cancel out the historical tradition and advantages the Nebraska job gives to its players and coaches.
With Napier's 28 million dollar buyout, I would not be replacing him at all right now, lol.
What about Gus Malzahn? He's already in the state running UCF quite well and has many years of winning seasons at Auburn. He could take the job and rebuild the teams culture, with the amount of experience he has being 58 years old is still decently young, he could coach there for 10 or so years until he retires. He's not the flashy hire I'm sure Florida wants but he should definitely be looked at
Pretty underrated candidate for the job. UCF is recruiting a lot better than I thought they ever could being in the same state as recruiting powerhouses like Florida, FSU and Miami. And Malzahn deserves that credit. SEC resources like he’d have at Florida would also help him.
Yeah Malzahn and also Lane Kiffin are the only two that could try to right the ship and potentially succeed, assuming Urban Meyer doesn't desire to come out of retirement.
@@hughgpauwels Kiffin wouldn’t leave what he built at Ole Miss for Florida tho
@@rayparker4231 Money talks far more for most of these coaches. The reason why Sark turned the Bama job down when it came open was because Texas was loaded for more junk. If Florida is loaded for more junk, they have a chance at taking Lane away from Ole Miss.
@@hughgpauwels yes and no. Sark turned down Bama not only for money but also because he was getting the ball rolling and finally establishing his team of guys he brought in, along with money. Texas moving to the SEC has the resources it needs to compete. There was nothing of value other than sentimentality and joining the Bama Legacy that is better than where he’s at. Kiffin is in the same boat Sark was in with Ole Miss he’s got multiple classes he recruited finally under him with his coaches, Ole Miss looks like a contender already and he’s already getting paid. Unless he’s becoming the highest paid CFB coach it makes no sense at all to leave for Florida.
they should hire me I was able to win a natty with Northern Illinois on college football 25
If Fla doesn't actually straighten out their NIL, which a coach doesn't run, they have no chance of hiring a top tier sitting head coach having success in the NIL era. And no one wants to hear about the hypothetical dollars Fla has in the piggy bank, rather the real spent money that retains and attracts players - like Ole Miss has clearly had since the NIL era began.
Urban Meyer. Not going to happen.
Kirby moore OC from Missouri would be a good choice
Come on! LSU just took our DC, Florida taking our OC? Can't catch a break ;(
They have the money to get drinkwitz probably
Screw all you big schools find your own coaches😂
Florida needs someone with P5 head coaching experience - so pass
Lane not leaving ole miss he got that thing go their and got a new contract
Boosters made it clear Lane is the list
Better figure it out quickly, early signing day is Dec 5th, 1st round of playoffs are Dec 21. UF needs someone before the early signing period.
@@butternuts14 if it’s Lane, it needs to be announced before the Dec. He’s worth the wait and UF could keep Lagway and build in the portal
Urban not coming back our fan base damaged that relationship
Why would you even want him back?
@@ekalB210because they’ve accomplished nothing since he left
@andrepryor8585 and urban went on the devastate Jacksonville, ruin the former #1 pick, the younger drunk girl at the bar, assaulted his players physically and mentally, arguably having the worst tenure as an nfl coach in the history of the nfl and that's without even googling him for anything else
Malazan wants to end career coaching ucf
A million dollars to not play them?! 😮 holy cow
I do NOT want Myer back.
THANK YOU!! Neither do I
If Lane goes to Florida I don't think it would work out the way people might think.
He's got a great thing going for him in Oxford and while karma doesn't exist there are comeuppance for those who sow bad seeds.
Lane isnt leaving Oxford and we all know why
@@totallynotalpharius2283why
Matt rhule would probably be the best choice but I don’t see him leaving Nebraska anytime soon he has everything he needs to win a natty their Florida would be better off snagging a coordinator from an sec school in my opinion
Oklahoma State offensive coordinator would be a good choice.
You think Urban Meyer would coach Florida again
I think he is happily retired I just don’t see that happening
Chris Klieman
They can have Neal Brown free of charge, compliments of WVU fans.
Call up Bill Belichick
I think possibly Ryan Day if Ohio State loses to Michigan
Why would you want a guy who can’t get over the hump against his rival to rebuild a team that also can’t beat their rivals at the moment and don’t tell me florida has more resources or is a better program than Ohio st.
No. Stop it. He ain't being fired if he goes 11-1 and loses to Michigan. If he was consistently missing 10 win seasons then yeah he should get the treatment Texas did to Tom Herman, but no, too successful as a HC right now and has a DeBoer-like record at Ohio State. You ain't firing a HC with a 55-8 record with two big ten titles, a Natty appearance, and three playoff appearances going into his sixth season as HC.
I don't think he's the best HC in the country or maybe even top 5, but he's top 10 at worst and the grass ain't always greener on the other side. Look what happened to Texas when they got rid of Mack Brown. Only now are they starting to emerge from the damage of that fateful decision back in 2013. Herman at his best was Mack at his worst, and Charlie was a moral man who didn't know how to win.
Plus Ohio State is a better job than Florida. Ryan Day is far more likely to go to the NFL than take a downgrade in job.
Personally I don’t expect him to be available for Florida at all, but I do think he is worth mentioning
michigan is terrible this year
@@enclave9614 Doesn't look like it. A good team. Drop off from elite status but good. Beating USC by only running the ball could have given them an identity.
Liberty coach best option probably for a fresh start or you can hire someone more proven but 50/50
Kids choose what's cool for them not the adults and so they change what "works".
Getting urban won't work.

Also, ya know, the whole Jacksonville debacle
I’d be interested to see Deion Sanders there with good coordinators. He’s managed to recruit well into Colorado, so he would absolutely be able to do so in Florida. And he won’t have any ties to Colorado once Shedeur is in the NFL.
hes not recruiting well at all or a good coach hes a clown show just like your comment
Deion won FCS games with an FBS roster , beyond that he has yet to win
@@Panthersigma well he’s won at every level he’s coached. Even Colorado went from 1-11 to 4-8 under him. If he has better talent, that’s just good recruiting. Saban always had the best players but nobody would use to discredit his record.
@@davidcain7211 lol stop it deion is a showboat and a clown. Dude isnt coach material
@@davidcain7211 4-8 is considered winning now? 🤣🤣🤣
Gruden. He will have a line on both sides and I think he'll kill it on the recruiting trail
Lane Kiffin point blank period and would be my first phone call!
Kiffin or Gruden
Would the Florida administration and/or the fanbase consider bringing back Dan Mullen?
You think Dan mullen going to coach Florida again
no lol
Florida needs Deion. 🤣🤣
They are cheap. They will hire somebody worse for less. All chinese students now so maybe some chopsticks too.😂
