Slow living isn’t a trend for me its a lifestyle I have embraced for years, I really learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of everyday. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple”. I grew up on a farm and I think that furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.
We moved six months ago to our cozy cottage, and we are in the process of fixing it up. I strive to make our home cozy and inviting no matter what stage of remodeling we are in. Making a home hygge and cozy is just a normal way of life for me and I can’t imagine it any other way. I hope you felt a little of those cozy vibes as you watch our new year slow living video. This is the first vlog of yours I came across, I'm definitely watching some more. I'm retired and live with my husband in a tiny 550 sq ft cabin, secluded on 40 acres . We chose this after retirement, to intentionally slow our life down. It has brought so many other gifts....humbleness, gratitude, being much more mindful minute to minute, meditative, simplification of daily chores. I now think softly while going about daily life, instead of loudly and quickly. That has been a blessing 🙏.

New sub here. I'm bringing a slower pace to our home by stepping back from some of the things I've normally opted to do. I've stepped away from FB for a while, reduced my amount of errands (due to Covid, but it's been a positive overall), am trying to make more time for reading, and I'm trying to get our home more organized and easier to keep tidy between cleanings so I'm not constantly overwhelmed by cleaning. I've begun eating a new way for health purposes and am having to change the way I stock food (my family is adopting many of these eating practices too--mainly grain and sugar free/lower) so I really have to re-think how and what to stock. I'm basically cutting the "fraff" out of our home life so we can breathe and enjoy our days. :) God bless!

The week after Christmas is my absolute favorite! And we actually got a little snow here in Illinois. ⛄️ It’s so magical! I love slow living. I can’t seem to find other humans who share the same philosophy, so I thank you for your channel! 💗
I am an introverted homebody 😊 and love to putter and daydream. Today I snuggled up with my cat and read a book, and later made peanut butter cookies and did absolutely nothing else. Your channel is such a gem. Happy New Year to you and your family! xx laura

I would never have thought to do that with the lemons, good idea! Also, I found some of those English ironstone canisters with wood lids at a thrift this year, I was tickled as they were only like $1.49 each. Happy New Year. I live in WI so, we have to embrace the winter activities.

Those candles on the window seal scare me!! They could fall off easily in an earthquake or the house shifting hard maybe.
They are pretty small, and would fall into the sink below. Not too worried here 😊

We had some clear weather today so we seized the opportunity to get outside; built another raised bed, cleaned the duck pen and played with the goats before the rain came back late this afternoon. Spent the afternoon and early evening baking cookies, bread and canning up some mixed berry jam from the last of the summer berries in the freezer.

Our school district started their first day of school today. I am out with covid.
I came across your channel a few days ago and I'm very grateful for your peaceful demeanor. I am a single parent of three grown children. They have all flown the nest with our oldest making the 10th direct generation of 4 branches in the military.
I'm a student data clerk for a small school of about 700 students so things were a little hairy where's my co-workers texting me throughout the day because they don't have rights to do certain things.
I try to do as much as possible in the summer but there's always the few that slip through the cracks (or just show up @ the last minute 🙄).
But in 20 years, this is only the second time I have been out on doctor's orders
I really appreciate finding your channel, albeit 3 yrs later😂.
I grew up with a wood burning stove from '75 until I married and moved out in '91, and, although home wasn't as pleasant as it could have been, I always liked simplicity.
I tried to instill this in our children when they were growing up (simple picnics, waterfalls at the state parks, fall festivities, spring gardens, etc.) and I think it 'stuck.'
They've all got a good appreciation for simple things, regardless of being world travelers.
A good book, a cup of tea, a simple song.

Thank you so much I just love the way the video is done it reminds me of being table height standing at about 5 years old watching my mother or my grandmother make pastry or put a meal together now this was 73 years ago. So watching at the edge of the table, where much of the cooking was put together(we didn't have kitchen islands so the work was done at the table) but oh did iLearn thank you for the memory

Yes I used to brush my mother's hair in the 50s so yes I'm 78 but she had gotten what we thought what's multiple sclerosis and was paralyzed on half of her body so we all did our chores but one thing she loved to have me do boys brush her hair so that was a good memory especially today thank you yes we had to slow down and Grandma did the laundry and the cooking I helped with the dishes I helped put clothing away I clean the house from about five or six years old so yes we all learned to slow down thankfully thank God it was a stroke she had and she eventually got well and even went back to work at the Parma police station in Ohio she did their incoming calls it was a real challenging job to say the least but she was a fighter God was with her God blessed us all it was good to slow down God bless you bye

I have just come across your video and immediately subscribed after watching it.
Wow, I think there is a great longing to slow living. I think we all feel we wished we had the freedom to prioritize what is really important instead of rushing through a to do list that always seem to override the other things that we rather would have wanted to attend to.
My dream is also to get a cabin on a piece of land where we could be left in peace to live our lifes to the fullest. Where one can be more self sufficient and live according more meaningful priorities.

Happy New Year. I like filling jars too. I accidentally bought grape fruit a few weeks ago instead of oranges. I dehydrated & powdered them. I thought I could use it as vitamin C. They would have been beautiful left in slices and made into garland. I love getting to putter around the house. God bless you and your family.
