- The back door lock on my defender stopped working so in this video i show you how to fit a new lock and transfer your original lock barrel over.
If you just want to see how i get the lock barrel out then jump to 3:30 in the video.
That little nugget of knowledge of how to remove the barrel was really useful. Thank you
Brilliant thank you. I had a similar problem and could work out how to take the lock barrel out of the old luck assembly
This video is interesting; however, it would be better if the camera was closer. Sometime ago, I had removed the lock rivets and replaced a small spring which was broken inside of it. So I've riveted again and it is working perfectly. It was not necessary to buy a brand new locker which is pretty expensive in Brazil.
Thanks, took a minute to find your video and a minute to do it! Perfect! Just a little feedback, the music is way louder than your voice, max volume just to hear you outside, then embarrassment when the loud music takes over.
This was in my early days of video editing before i had worked out proper sound balancing, when i was just getting used to the SHOTCUT editing software. :)
I get it even when half the key was stuck in the lock cylinder about 15 years ago😀
I was wondering how to remove the barrel. Very informative, thankyou.
Very informative! Thanks.
If it’s a case of the lock not staying locked it’s a small spring in the lock that needs replacing. Buy kit online fora few quid drill out a couple of rivets, swap spring. New rivets, job done
The door kept opening while driving. I was originally going to open the lock and fix it inside but when I got it opened it was badly worn and a piece was broken off so I decided to fit all new.
Very informative as just about to fit new barrel.........now put some bloody oil on those hinges...🤣🤣🤣
will do ;)
How did you get the barrel out once you pushed the pin in? I can feel my pin pushing against the spring but the barrel is not loose and I can't pinch it out like you seemed to do in the video......
If you push the pin too deep the tool you are using stops the barrel coming out. I just pulled on the key a bit and it popped out as you see in the video
@@Mids1970 you were absolutely correct, thank you very much for replying!!
No, I've had a go and I just can't get the barrel out!
Sorted it...thanks for the tips and giving me confidence (y)
Hinges need oiling.
The only thing oil spoiled is a good suit!
