3:37 My earliest memory was being taken down Thunderbolt steps from Totterdown, to nursery down in St. Phillips Marsh. I always remembered the awful smell.
When I was older my mum told me it was the boneyard. I guess this is it. Amazing to find this so many years later.

Hello Danny. Yes that was the boneyard alright. The smell was worse if the wind was blowing in your direction. Regards Dave.

This ones close to home for me. I started as a SWEB apprentice at Feeder RD Depot in 1988 (Old power station site) and know the area well. Some of the photo's could have been taken yesterday if old model cars hadn't been in shot to give the game away, other photos I don't recognise, a sign of how fast things change. Keep up the good work.

Very good presentation. The ancient Ashmead steam tug towing barges may be 'Conroy' which survived up to the 60s. Feeder Canal was still busy in those days with the tugs bringing barges of woodpulp from the City Docks to St. Annes board mills.

Hello Richard. I remember seeing these convoys of barges in the mid-sixties. Regards Dave.

Where did you find these photos? I'm curious because I'm doing some research on John Lysaght's St. Vincent's works.

Hello John. These have been collected over 40 years. A good place to start researching is the Bristol Record Office at Cumberland Basin. They have a lot on John Lysaghts. Next year my History Group, Barton Hill History Group, will be having a meeting devoted to the company. Date to be announced in the coming months. Please check our website. Regards Dave.
