As a writer within this realm, I honestly believe we have barely scratched the surface in terms of what we can do with the novel form and language itself. More power to the elbow of this & The Republic Of Consciousness Prizes

Yes, absolutely! The Goldsmiths and RoC prizes are such gems each year for giving love to these books!

H(a)ppy was on my radar when it came out, but I had no idea it was up for the Gold smith at the time, and I've never got to it since my library doesn't have it. I may need to invest in a copy since it is very likely my sort.
You've also sold me on needing to follow this prize more closely, as I love the unusual and innovative.

Ooh, nice! It’s so fun and I got so lost in the voice of the book!
It’s a fun prize! It’s one where I tend to either love the book or be totally baffled by it, both of which are fun experiences aha

A Girl is A Half Formed Thing has been on my TBR for years. It’s format is a bit too challenging but I want to conquer it.

Yeah, it’s definitely tough! The audiobook really helped me ‘enjoy’ it a lot more!

Any prize that has Ducks as its winner gets maximum respect from me! I agree with all you have said about it - it is very moving and I think is the only book I have finished and then really missed the main character (I almost started it again!). The only one of these that I wasn’t so keen on was Beatlebone, but I have really enjoyed other books by Kevin Barry. Nicola Barker is wonderful but I would recommend starting with Wide Open which is my favourite.

Yes, absolutely! I loved the main character so much by the end! And Beatlebone is an odd one, but I’m excited to read more Barry!
Ooh, thanks for the recommendation- I feel like Nicola Barker is an author I’ll love a lot!

Ah! Came across a couple of these on my wishlist and wondered why I'd put them there. Now I know! (I didn't put much effort into my wondering.) Was hoping my library would have the Barker book. No such luck. Not that title anyway. Don't think I'll ask them to buy it.

I need to try Sterling Karat Gold. The other Waidner I read, I really didn’t like.
It feels like the Goldsmith Prize and the Republic of Consciousness Prize have overlapping areas of interest

Ahh, totally fair! And yes! Those two prizes are some of the most consistent for bringing attention to the weird and wonderful!
