I loved watching you create this journal!! It is beautiful, amazing, and magical! Thank you for showing us how to do this step by step. You are so creative!!
I'm so happy you joined me today as we start working on our Pastel Blossoms junk journal which is going to include my digital kits. Today we will be working on the cover for our journal. As I mentioned in the intro video, we will make a hard cover, hand painted journal, and I am showing you my exact process step by step - along with the decision-making, some mistakes, and changing my mind a few times. Hope you'll enjoy! :) Thank you for watching and big hugs, Martyna
I am very anxious about going out yet. It’s hard to keep this up but I think even worse if you get the virus. I’m 72 so maybe I’m a little over cautious but I sure don’t want to get it because I’m the only one who can take care of Buddy, my Chihuahua. I am working on my first journal and it is relaxing. I feel like I disconnect from the world and just playing in my own world. 😊 This journal cover is going to be beautiful! I can’t wait to follow you step by step. And I like the fairy better than the flowers, too. Hang in there, everything will be ok one day soon. Take care and be careful - you have a journal to finish! 😉
Thank you so much for your sweet words Molly! I truly hope you are safe and I'm wishing all the best to you, your loved ones, and of course dear Buddy! Big hugs xx
So gorgeous!! So happy to have found your creative channel, I look forward to watching many more of your videos and being inspired by your amazing ideas!! xo
I wouldn't put those particular shades of color together but I'm so glad you did because it turned out great! So pretty! Your puppy is adorable! One of my three is the picture to my left, Suzie.
I love the colors and distressing and gold that you have put on your new journal. Its so lovely. The picture on the cover is perfect with the lovely paint colors that you chose. Your videos are so good! Your English is excellent, you are easy to understand, the fact that you care about your creations is so apparent. You almost always stay in frame. I know how difficult making these videos can be. I just really hope that you realize how talented you are and how you inspire and instruct us. I'm new to making journals. I live in Maryland, right outside of Washington DC. We have protesters out in the streets, then the violent, looting criminals came and have hurt many people, police, and torn up stores and ruined people's businesses and their hopes and dreams. I have been in my hone since January. I went out a few time to get dental surgery. I'm now getting over an infection. My point is that it helps me so much to watch videos like yours. In my mind, I'm creating albums, getting ideas and i write down ideas for my artwork and cards and sewing projects. In many ways it has been a peaceful time. I connect with friends and family with the internet and facetime. It really helps me to concentrate on what I can do and not on what I can't. I hope you stay well and happy, Hugs, treen
Thank you sor such sweet and encouraging words, Treen! Your support means so much to me. I am so so sorry about how things are right now in the States, and I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe. Big hugs dear xx
I bought your kit immediately after seeing your first video and have been anxiously awaiting this one. The cover is beautiful and I can’t wait to start on my own. Thank you so much! Oh, and the video it’s self was perfect and easy to follow. You did a great job!
What a great tutorial. Thanks for sharing with us. Here in Colorado, things are opening up. Our restaurants are opening with spaced out tables. The servers have to wear masks. I went antique shopping in a small town this past week. Everyone was social distancing & most people wore mask. I think people have to do what feels best for themselves. Most people I spoke with who own the small shops are so happy to serve people again. And I was happy to buy some antique books for my upcoming journals! Love your work & your soothing voice.
Stunning, exquisite cover! Magnificent! The color combination is gorgeous and the fairy is so sweet! The crackle and distressing enhance the cover so much! TFS the inspiration!
I love this whimsical look! You inspired me to try my hand at crackle paint on a cover. I like how it’s coming together but it’s not quite done yet. One idea I have for you is that you probably could have kept the cover image as a rectangle since it’s going to go behind the dicot oval window. That way you don’t have to perfectly fit the image into the oval and it would give you a little bit of “play” in terms of positioning it behind the die cut window. I hope that makes sense! Nevertheless, it worked out and it came out so lovely.
I am excited to make this journal with you. I have printed out the pages on beautiful double-sided matt paper. I have also purchased many of the books you have used in the past and I am ready!!
I cant seem to stop buying the books that she uses. The first one came and I tried, buy could not make myself cut it up. lol It was so beautiful. So I ordered some more and I did take them apart. Its getting easier. Thank God for the internet for shopping.
This is a great video. It’s very instructive and it’s great watching you work and hearing you chat. I’ve bought the digis so I’m looking forward to following you in making the journal. In Ireland we are still restricted, we can go outside for walks with one other person. I think your feeling of apprehension is normal, I am quite nervous about going out to shops again even though I miss it. I think we are all going to have find a new way to live without constant anxiety and I think we will. Humans are very adaptable.
This hard cover is amazingly beautiful! ☆☆☆♡☆☆☆ I LOVE everything about it. Soooo very cool with the crackle effect. Very interesting and inspiring video indeed, Martyna! Have a lovely weekend! /Ditte
Such a beautiful cover, it's so eye-catching!!!! Your tutorial was wonderful and thorough. Thanks so much for doing this.....I would love to make one exactly like this, I find it so stunning!!!! Hugs, stay safe and can't wait to watch next video!!!!
I am definitely also sick of quarantine but anxious about reopening! I'm still worried about the virus, definitely. BUt like you said, I also miss my friends so much!
Hi, great video. I’ve recently discovered your channel and I’m enjoying your videos, your work is so pretty, just what I need right now. What is the best way for adding signatures to this type of cover? Would you always stitch them in? Or do you use removable ones? I’m looking at your other videos, would you have one showing how you attach your signatures? Thank you 😘
Thank you, thank you, thank you! After seeing other journals you made using these distress covers, i have been searching to find out how to do it. Stunning work! Can you tell me what kind of gold wax you use?
This cover turned out really nice! A little tip, it you turn off auto focus on your camera and just make sure it’s focused before hitting the record then you won’t have focus issues, just thought you’d like to know.
The cover is stunning! I love it! I too am looking forward to the next video! I live in Florida. We are still in phase 1 which included the opening of stores and restaurants with recommended spacing of tables, etc. Unfortunately, the local mayor said that he was directing the local police to NOT check on the numbers of people inside and such. Elected does not necessarily mean intelligent! In the meantime we have had 2 surges of additional cases in the last few days. I don't blame you for worrying. The virus is not gone. We are just reopening with the virus still active. Some people wear masks, some don't. My parents live in the house behind me and they are bored. I keep busy but, I must admit that I would like to get out also. The number of cases is still prevalent but the number of deaths has slowed. I wish I was sure that they are telling us the truth. A lot of people are unemployed and have been waiting for benefits for months. The system is broken and the State has been slow about fixing it. Usually at this time of year I am planning trips to see friends. We had to cancel a cruise through New England in October. Everything is up in the air! Well that is a summary! Are you sure that you wanted to know? LOL We have to see how it goes! Take care Martyna, and do what your "gut" tells you to do. I don't know if you use that expression but it just means trust your instincts! Hugs! R.
Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to share this with me Rhonda! Seems the situation in Florida is very much like what's happening in Poland. I am so incredibly sad for all the people who've lost their jobs due to the pandemics and for all who suffer one way or the other because of the broken systems. I truly hope the situation in the world improves soon and that people are responsible so we don't have to go through all of this again. Take care dear and big hugs from Krakow xx
I love this so much, I finally got my hands on some crackle and am looking forward to playing with it. May I ask what the corner stamp set you have is called? it’s so pretty.

This video answers a lot of my questions. Thank you for this tutorial ❤️ Now i have to figure out where i can find the thick cardboard you used on the cover 😅 The raised cover is like a cereal box cardboard i guess. I bought a mod podge but i'm afraid to use it in case i mess it up 😅 We are going back to normal. Too fast in my opinion. We'll see what happens 😅 Anyway, take care, hugs from Türkiye ❤️
Thank you for your feedback dear! So happy you found it useful. I buy my board in a local craft shop in a section they have for mini albums - maybe you could check your craft shops looking for album supplies? I believe people use this thick board as their album's base but it's perfect for making covers too! And don't be afraid to use mod podge, it dries clear so you won't mess it up ❤️ Stay safe and well dear. Big hugs from Krakow ❤️
The embossing wasn't too wet. It wasn't heated long enough. Just a helpful hint so you can avoid that happening. Thank you for sharing this. I really love the colors. Also I've never mixed my paint with gesso for a base coat. I think that's a great idea and I will have to try that. Also I wanted to let you know,...when you place your image behind the front window...If you cut it in a rectangle just larger than your window...You won't have to worry about the edges showing. You just have to center it on your window. And to make it easy, you can glue right onto the window. That way you can save your self from worrying about not getting it straight. I would like to also say, your window oval is perfect! How did you get it so smooth? It looks amazing! :)
Thank you for the tip about the embossing! I'm still quite new to this technique but I enjoy it so much :) Ah, and for the window image - I used to cut the rectangle like you say and glue it first. It was definitely much easier to position my image this way, but I noticed I like to ink the edges of my window images, and that's why I'm now cutting them to the size of the window :) And thank you! I think it turned out so smooth because I used a die and the cardboard was quite thin. Thank you again for watching dear and big hugs xx

hi can you please just clarify, we need to spray with a clear shallac type spray when we are all done?
Hermoso!!
Do you need a heat gun for embossing powder?
a lovely tutorial, We will start phase 2 here on June 19 if things stay improved. We have a long way to go here yet in Canada.
Thank you Lorna dear! Hope you and your loved ones will all be safe during the phases. Big hugs xx
Did you finish this Pastel Blossoms journal? I think I may have missed the other episodes and I can't seem to find the videos on RUclips.
What's the name of the gold that you are using
You can use a floating medium in your paint to help with the cracking at the edges of the spine.
I haven't heard of floating medium before, thank you for the tip Elizabeth! Still so much to learn about mixed media :) Will definitely give it a try!

Thank you dear! I used DecoArt Weather Wood medium but I'm not using any setting spray - I seal the cover with mat ModPodge :)

Are these kits all gone? I checked your Etsy shop and didn't see them.
Karen Lulay Hi Karen! They are still available, could you try refreshing the page? Maybe there was some delay on Etsy side?
Is your frame also covered in fabric?? Or is it just a piece of cardboard painted???
No fabric on the frame, I just covered the cardboard with gesso :)
