This is such a good series from 1997, going by the date on the Irish newspaper. I'm totally hooked and very thankful that you have uploaded it on RUclips for everyone's pleasure.
The series is great. The 'hostage' in this episode is very annoying! All her screaming and sobbing- she shouldn't be working in government if she can't keep calm in an emergency.
Well, she’s under a lot of stress thinking she is to blame for everything and might die any second, but if she lives will probable get fired for compromising security because of her affair, in addition to withholding important information from the ambassador.
i like the show, but this episode was spoiled by daft details. The idea that the media and the public would be permitted to be at a cordon a few metres from the door of a live hostage situation, where the antagonist is believed to be armed with radioactive material is ridiculous. Likewise, that they be allowed to remain anywhere near the vicinity when armed operations are being mounted. Then the armed unit march out of the embassy with their weapons pointing out towards these bystanders as well as the Ambassador. Come on. The man had been overpowered and disarmed inside the embassy. He would have been thoroughly searched for weapons before being taken from the building. So at the point he's walking out onto the street with Ambassador they either knew he posed no risk, or they were incompetent. The idea that he would be allowed to freely exit into a public street with the Ambassador if they were unsure if he was still armed in some way is beyond ridiculous., so no weapons would be drawn. Also, special forces don't tend to want to be paraded in front of TV crews, especially with their faces uncovered...
Listen to these radical people outside the embassy continuingly calling this man , whos tired of being disregaded and ignored and called a crazy loon or mentally unstable. The reporter telling him "look out the window they're listening now." Getting him to feel like its always been h im not the poison water. What he needs to do is have them go write up & sign a contract they can't negate on. And then put the threat down.
Interesting timing to come across this show today. The right-wing Opposition here in Australia has a new "policy" for nuclear energy. (It's entirely unfeasible; just a duplicitous strategy to create division, sabotage investment, and suck up to the fossil fuel corporates)
The Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs flies of the handle - does not betray professionalism and diplomacy in all situations. Non uncommon in ministerial worlds
I certainly think a Helen Mirren/ Judi Dench would have made it much more believable, however the writing and production is really weak too. I have to keep watching in the hope that it will improve with time.
OK. Three episodes in. This is hilariously unsophisticated British propaganda TV! Ridiculous! But relevant as a history lesson in the power of propaganda on the voting masses. Aimed at the Brits, of course. The Irish were not the target audience and wouldn't have fallen for it if they were. This was meant to bolster the support of the English for their government's colonial and racist policies. Brits still teach this stuff in school. Take a look at their standard textbooks!

The series is great. The 'hostage' in this episode is very annoying! All her screaming and sobbing- she shouldn't be working in government if she can't keep calm in an emergency.
Agree, she is rather frustratingly wet.
Yes she needs to grow a pair
I guess some women are like that. Too much estrogen lol.
Well, she’s under a lot of stress thinking she is to blame for everything and might die any second, but if she lives will probable get fired for compromising security because of her affair, in addition to withholding important information from the ambassador.
That's how the producers like to portray women
excellent drama. thank you.
Great cast.As usual Ms Collins is wonderful.

Nate is a wise boy he do has a point. It's hard for a civilian to get through to those in high places. You either have to make an appointment .
Brilliant,thank you very much!
Double treat, not just our regular dose of Denis Lawson, but we get Sean McGinley as well!
Thanks for posting! Is there more?

1, 2, and 3 good so far , just watching 4
The embassy has no other entrances.
BBC products are always the best
Were the best before they became 'woke''.
Keep them coming
All he wanted was to just talk to the ambassador so she could help him with his son.
Still looking for Season 1 Episode 3. The current offering is actually Season 2 Episode 3. Disconcerting.

Each episode becomes a crisis, it's a bit much!
The boy looks really sick 😢😢
Wow
The Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs flies of the handle - does not betray professionalism and diplomacy in all situations. Non uncommon in ministerial worlds
More pls
The idiot with the emotional and clouded judgement because of his affair with the incompetent employee.
Low level functionary 'Jobsworths' cause things like this all the time.
The Ambassador bares the resemblance of Angela Merkel.😁😁😁😁😁😁
How come Episode 3 "Nine Tenths of the Law" is missing from the uploads. Can you please make it available?
A very cool series

John is having an affair with Jennifer. That's why he's so arrogant
Do you guys know Dangerfield?
Great drama and entertainment, but what a bs hahahaha

Let my son off mis-deeds and I will do a talk.....poms....hey...
