Always amazed at how our cycling industry comes up with interesting new ideas... this seems super cool. Thanx for the coverage!

I recently discovered that rather counter-intuitively (for me), the softer the padding on a saddle, the more soreness I had on longer rides. I switched to a harder saddle and while less comfortable on short rides, it made quite a big difference on long ones (same bibs). Maybe that's just me and my butt though 😆

that's my usually my experience too, but this thing is certainly different. Thats what I think happened at the beginning of my test period, the padding gave me more irritation, but then it just went away.

i came to the same conclusion after having used a suspension seatpost
you usually lift yourself a tiny bit off of the saddle when you press into the pedals (not lifting off of the saddle, just taking away pressure)
the suspension seatpost always keeps the same pressure, even if you lift a little bit
over long rides that can be quite uncomfortable
and the second thing is when riding over bumps you actually do lift yourself into the air and the bike can do whatever it wants without hammering your hind side
and again, the suspension seatpost transmits all those bumps to your body, not as impacts, just softened motion which again increases pressure

@@marc_frankoh wow, that's crazy. I would've never thought of that!

I agree. my favorite saddle right now is the Brooks Cambium C15, but I also like the WTB Silverado.

Same here. On the road, I use an SMP with no padding.

Would be great to see a review and your thoughts on the Infinity A1X saddle. Infinity has been getting a following in the ultracycling community, and I think I saw a couple on the TD rigs this year. I made the move back to my mtb and a new gravel bike after 20+ years mostly riding recumbent; and after way too many saddles purchased, went with Infinity on recommendations from friends. I could definitely see it work out well for longer bikepacking trips.

Cool new take on suspension saddle. I’ve run the SQLab Active saddles for years now. Have to check these out next!

Great review! I've always been curious about BikeYoke products, especially since they've built a solid reputation in the specialized bike market. The Sagma saddle seems innovative with its elastomers, and I appreciate your honest experience during your bikepacking trip. The fact that it adapted so well by day three is promising. Thanks for highlighting the differences between carbon and aluminum versions, too. Cheers, and keep pedalling!

I like the concept a lot. Ordered one, hope it will be nice for my rigid mtb bike.

Get a PNW components dropper post as well as it has a shock absorber in it as well as dropper post

Great review. This might be one of those items that helps certain people mobility issues have more options. It looks like this seat moves more to the rider. If someone has a significant leg length discrepancy, it might allow the hip of the shorter leg to roll down a bit more easily.

    • @stevenr5149
      @stevenr5149 Год назад

I tried it(130mm) It is very flat on top-especially in back. When my leg pushes the pedal down, the back of my leg pushes into the seat, causing it to pivot down with each pedal stoke.
My specialized Toupe (130mm) is very rounded in the back. My leg just moves down with no seat in the way because the back is curved down.
I found that The Yoke solves a problem-that I do not have with my other saddle.
But it may solve a different problem for a different body type. Nice effort though-it feels high quality.

What about combining these items? For example suspension saddle + CaneCreek seatpost, or gravel suspension fork + Redshift stem, is that crazy.

Brompton H6R with Brooks B17 Flyer. Comfortable straight out of the box, no need for chamois shorts, just comfy clothing, ride distance only limited by the engine (me).

Yeah, hard pass my friend swears by it but I tried it for 2 days and it was uncomfortable the springiness is fine but it doesn't support my ass properly. After more than 30 min discomfort starts. And I can ride whole day in specialized phenom and even toupe isn't that bad. I get that for some it's great but it is uncomfortable for me and few of my friends. Maybe after few weeks I'd adapt to it but it's not worth the hassle given that I already have a comfortable long ride seat that's also lighter and takes slightly less care. As for brooks adaptin got your shape it takes a kot of time for it to actually manifest and I'm not sure how much of an effect it makes Vs you adapting to it.
      But whatever works for you.

How does this saddle stack up with the SQLabs 611 Ergowave active s-tube 2.1? The side movement isn’t something that I’m after, its the vibration dampening

Works in a similar way to SQlabs saddles .It didn't work for me I'm trying a Specialized power pro mirror ,supposed to be good for long distance stuff .

Looks like it will start to creak overtime. Having a problem now with squeaky cleats/pedals. I like the sound of wind in my ears and that's it. Silence is golden.

They acquired the design from Morgaw who used to make similar saddles called the Trian.

Suspension saddles have been around since the very beginning of cycling. This version looks promising but the execution looks odd
