+Jake Blake: "Ronald Reagan": Best President of my lifetime (b. 1949), so far. "Michael Milken the "junk bond " king": "junk bonds" were unsecured bonds. At one time Milken was the most highly-compensated person in history ($400 million/year). He received a percentage of the income he generated for his investors, so those bonds turned a profit for his investors. CNN got started on unsecured bonds. Not "junk" at all. "AIDS": like Obama is responsible for Ebola?
+Jake Blake Speaking as an Englishman I would contend that Nixon AND Johnson would get the joint award for your worst ever president because it is widely believed by many such as myself that they were both involved in JFK's assassination. Actually, to say Johnson was involved is an understatement. The meeting at oil baron Clint Murchison's house on the evening of 21/11/63 (or 11/22/63 as you guys would say) where the two of them were present was very odd indeed. The man who lost the 1960 election conniving with part of the ticket who beat him... and this theme of double-croosing ties in (sort of) with the video of this superb song from 1983 I believe it was. Great music. I believe that the late 60's to the early 90's was a "Golden Age of Rock'n'Roll" to paraphrase Mott The Hoople. Not sure about today though...

I remember when this came out, I cycled over to the mall and bought the vinyl 45, played it over and over, saw the video, entered the Twilight Zone, thanks for the post Thijs Pietersen, super classic.
This video was really quite groundbreaking and influential, and doesn't get much historical recognition for it either. It was the first violent ACTION video over a decade before that Sabatoge video by The Beastie Boys, it had nudity and sex before that "controversial and shocking" Madonna video 'Justify My Love, and it even featured a choreographed dance production number ( at 2:49 ) before any video by Micheal "King of Pop" Jackson ( who's typically credited with doing THAT first in mv's )! . .. not to mention it has an over-all cinematic quality which was uncommon for music videos at this time ( 1982 ). Very pioneering and overlooked and underrated video.
Excellent and spot on comment, Ian! The video was mesmerizing and spellbinding, while we tried to figure out the story-telling lyrics. To add to your great post, the video also was one of the first to have graceful, ballet-type dancing with beautiful girls in perfect sync. I always wondered why the video and golden earring get more recognition in the USA and figured it was because they were from holland. They were a ground-breaking band in music and video. The Cut album is one of the greatest albums of the early eighties!
+Patricia Riesen h I was rather surprised to learn that they're from Holland. Allot of people here in America have the mistaken impression that they're an American group cause their other big hit song here Radar Love get's categorized as "southern rock" ( played on allot of radio stations and included on lots of album collections along with THAT style of music ).
Another One Bites The Dust (1981) had violent action scenes, Billie Jean (1983) had choreo (as did other video), and this video was inspired by the Twilight Zone TV show.
@@raygordonteacheschess5501 THIS video is at least AS OLD as, or possibly even OLER than, Billy Jean. As for your LAST statement there, I don't see it? Maybe your thinking of the frigging Manhattan Transfer - THAT group also has a song (even older one than this) called Twilight Zone which was clearly inspired by the old tv series.

I bought the album "CUT" in 1982 for this very song & now 40 Years later (2022) I'm still listening to it. I once heard a Radio DJs say that Golden Earring were One Hit Wonders & played Radar Love, I phoned him & suggested he does research. I think most will agree that the best way to listen to this is PLAY IT LOUD.
Funny thing is, they were a one hit wonder in the mid 70's with a massive hit called Radar Love. So overplayed, and most of my friends were like "Meh" Even though it was a huge hit. 20 years go by, well forgotten, and then they put out this excellent song. Mindblow

Ah yes. Songs that tell a story. Lyrical genius here unlike the crap that’s on the radio today! This song is absolutely stellar! The solo in this long version is phenomenal and so bluesy and raw! Just one of the top 10 songs of all time. I was 14 when I first heard it
Used to walk past George's studio with my dog a few years back, he always said hi to me when I walked past and he was outside, nice guy. I had no clue it was him and only recently found out who he was.
I lived right next door to a studio in Santa Barbara (~1990), and ended up spending a decade playing bass guitar and singing with some legends. It was quite the era... 🤠 ruclips.net/video/5O28KOrrkQ8/видео.html
So much story, striking imagery, and drama packed into one short video set to an amazing song. This is how it was done in the 80's. I was a preteen when this started showing on MTV and watched it every chance I could. The singer's voice is amazing as well. There's more entertainment here than in any film coming out of Hollywood now.
It was always going to be a Twilight Zoney 2020 when Rod Serling's (creator of the Twilight Zone) wife passed away in January. It's like the universe went "Huh. Low on unexpected twists are we?"
my song for 2021 . still lingering from 2020. "It's 2am the fear is gone". Same response to the year 2000 millennium (Y2K) threat .just bought a gun and ammo. the store shelves were bare; just got a gallon of bottled water. the fear was gone.
I just loved the beginning when he says " Somewhere in a Royal Hotel room there's a guy who's starting to realize that eternal fate has turned its back on him. It's 200 am. Chills
Back in the day when this song came out ,i was working overnights as a security guard at a huge precious metals scrap yard .This place was in a very bad area of the city and i was the only one there working this shift ..Every hour i had to walk a zig zag pattern across the length of this place turning time keys in my record clock.Every night this song would play on the radio in my guard shack, couldent get it out of my head wile making my rounds , i was always expecting someting ,from somebody to come crashing down on the bone of my head. Was pretty creepy. But still loved the song .
+Cheef Cherokee Love this song to..... and I worked Security Nightshifts for 10 years...I liked it not dealing with all the dayshift employees...Still working nightshift now....Maintenance...Love it!
I liked working nights ,.i liked working security . But some of the posts that i was assigned to just dident pay enough . When you sit down in a guard shack at a knew post , turn on the light and see multiple bullet holes in the windows ,,,you know your not getting paid enough .Stuck with it for about 6 years ,moved to the country now doing land survey work. City is not for me anymore. But ill never forget some of the post i worked back in the day.
+Cheef Cherokee It's funny how a certain song can take you back to a certain place and time; like a certain smell or food can. I was only a child when this song was popular on the radio. But the line, "When the bullet hits the bone..." always stuck with me for some reason. Golden Earring had some great bass lines!
that line in the song of where am I to go now that I've gone too far is one of the best lines ever in a song that I've ever heard in my 58 years lifetime
The one that has always ringed with me my whole life was from queen,"I don't wanna die, sometimes wish I'd never been born at all" kinda depressing lol
+David Howland Okay, one of my top favorites is by Tom Petty, in the last verse of his song "Room At The Top", when he sings: 'I love you, please love me, I'm not so bad. And I love you so.' That's one of the saddest couple of bars of lyrics I've ever heard. :-)
I was 6 in 1982 and 16 in 1992 when I was double-crossed on exchange to Mosbach and Dresden Germany and Prague Czechoslovakia during the Siege of Sarajevo and Nazi riots when I was 16.
Me too! Senior year in HS, worked part time at the local mall Thom McCann shoe store in Jersey City and heard this in the car on a Saturday w my new boyfriend driving to Staten Island. Very specific, but I Loved this song so much my brain must’ve registered everything that was happening in the moment. L O L
Totally agree. Just watched the 2021 induction ceremony and yup there were rappers. How do guys with no band, can't play any instrument and every songs beat is the same get included as Rock & Roll? White guilt? Anyways the Foo Fighters closed the show with the most incredible set with Paul McCartney. I was in high school when Twilight Zone and Lunitic Fringe came out. These were bands that you dropped the needle on the turntable and let it all play or we recorded tapes of the complete albums for the car. Mixed tapes were for lesser bands. It was a great time to grow up in Western Canada!
Wolfgang Markus Gstrein I’m Canadian and this band has in my heart since 1980. The R&R HoF has become a joke once the editor of Rolling Stone Yawn wiener went corrupt with money.
This band started in 1962. The singer was the "new guy" when he joined in 1970. They still had the same guys at the core playing shows pre-covid. Hell yeah they should be in the R&R HoF!
You unlock this door, behind which is easily one of the most underappreciated songs known to man. A song somewhere between the pit of hardcore drums and the summit of a mad guitar riff. You max the volume and hit repeat, you've just crossed over into... The Twilight Zone
2/3 years earlier it would’ve charted way higher. Music was changing hard into the sythn period synonymous with the 80s. Radar Love kicked a bit harder for them.
Volume maxed out!! Being 21, in 2021 during the Covid 19 pandemic, looking back and I remember hearing this song growing up, little did I know how real these lyrics are and how much I would relate in future years. I've been listening on repeat!
Sitting at a light , kids beside me blasting rap in their booming car, so I had to blast this at max volume, little did they know I had a better booming stereo than there's and this sounded a hell of a lot better lol!
I love you Dad and I miss you so much. We're playing this song at his funeral today during the sideshow. It's his turn to step into the twilight zone. He's the one who introduced to to classic rock and I can ttill remember the first time I ever heard this song while riding in the car with him, him telling me who it was and how much he liked the song.
I'd suggest radar love, when the lady smiles, Bombay, going to the run, and burning stuntman by the golden earring. They recorded a great acoustic album as well
i dedicate this one to one of my friends dennis gallop from winnipeg who is no longer with us and back in the 80s living in calgary we played the bejesus out of this one.that was great times.
its one of those creepy videos that really captures the song's intent. I remember being afraid of the video when I was a kid... something about it gave the chills. Now I know the vid was an absolute masterpiece in capturing the song.

+TheTruthseeker59 Saw them last week. Awesome show!
+Jake Blake:
"Ronald Reagan": Best President of my lifetime (b.
+SIMON WOODS the music man, the music! !!!
+TheTruthseeker59 did you pay for that show?
This track rips. Always moves me, to another place, puts me in a movie, puts me in danger. I can't get enough. One of life's easy pleasures.
+starr shine I guess you could say you've... slipped into the Twilight Zone?
+tman008 YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN!!!!
I feel the same such a magical song, I also feel like I'm almost put some where else or some kind of brilliant alternate zone out reality!
Conspiracy Guy92 Plus the title of the track is too dope! Always will be connected with the awesome B&W TV show from 1960's.
it totally DOES, doesn't it? Now that you mention it...
Hands down this has The BEST bass run than any other!
I'm thankful for the music I was brought up on, my daddy taught me well☺️
This song…this video… I’m 49 and this is still one of my favorites ever. The extended version is sublime.
The extended version, and there's a live accoustic version which is amazing.
I'm 62 a woman and love it! Always loved Golden Earring! The music is amazing!
@shebacoppit7008 it's badass music it's really from the 70s but I think it's 80s music too! I hear this and I think of the skating rink in Irving Tx 1982...
They DO NOT make music like this anymore. :/
Nope! Thank God we can still listen ey? Rock ON!
Hell yeah!
+Alex Cameron They absolutely do .... check out the disco biscuits , sts9, lotus. What we call today jamtronica . Im comparing specifically to the sythned out jam at the end ...... however i will agree that this song was lightyears ahead of its time ... i love it
Things change. For better and worse.
.
Comment reminds me of the Break Up Song, another great song.
I remember when this came out, I cycled over to the mall and bought the vinyl 45, played it over and over, saw the video, entered the Twilight Zone, thanks for the post Thijs Pietersen, super classic.
I remember, when this first came out, watching Mtv for hour waiting for the video to come on. :)
Back when MTV was cool.
Yeah, when MTV used to mean Music Television...now it's more like Fake Reality TV Show Television
+SAVAGE308SNIPER you mean lame-assed reality show television.
+bill caldwell (billc307) Such great choreography in the video. Those dancers are phenomenal.
+bill caldwell (billc307) Back when music was cool.
+bill caldwell (billc307) Are we really getting that Old lol ?
The 1980’s was the best decade
Indeed it was, dang wish I was from that time
And the 1970's ...!
We live in a garbage age now. These songs only stir up more of what we have lost 😢
Looked like a film noir piece. I liked it.
Did the main character die at the end? It's implied but not shown!
I’m 31 years old and i love this kind of music 👌
This is one of the best songs ever produced.
yep dutch people are awsome!
***** can't get no connections..Can't get through- where are you? There is a storm on the loose, Sirens in my head, All circuits are dead, Cannot decode!

Scott Chandler -sounds familiar, eh??

"Twilight Zone"
Somewhere in a lonely hotel room there's a guy starting to realize that eternal fate has turned its back on him.
It's two A.M.
It's two A.M., it's two A.M
The fear has gone, the fear has gone
I'm sittin' here waitin', the gun's still warm
Sittin' here waitin', the gun's still warm
Maybe my connection is tired of takin' chances
Yeah there's a storm on the loose, sirens in my head
Wrapped up in silence, all circuits are dead
Cannot decode, my whole life spins into a frenzy
Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
Place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved under moon and star
Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far
Soon you will come to know
When the bullet hits the bone
Soon you will come to know
When the bullet hits the bone
I'm falling down the spiral, destination unknown
Double-crossed messenger, all alone
Can't get no connection, can't get through, where are you
Well the night weighs heavy on his guilty mind
This far from the borderline
When the hitman comes
He knows damn well he has been cheated
And he says
Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
Place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved under moon and star
Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far
Soon you will come to know
When the bullet hits the bone
Soon you will come to know
When the bullet hits the bone
When the bullet hits the bone
Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
Place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved under moon and star
Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far
Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
Place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved under moon and star
Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far
Soon you will come to know
When the bullet hits the bone
Soon you will come to know
When the bullet hits the bone
When the bullet hits the bone, ahhh
When the bullet hits the bone
When the bullet hits the bone, ahhh
When the bullet hits the bone

TFS!
The James Bond theme that never was.
Lol
Jason Bourne its Jason Bourne
It is, but not as much as Pink Floyd's song Lucifer Sam. That is the original James Bond theme that never was; ruclips.net/video/f35gUESUFvU/видео.html Right?? C'mon. Give credit where credit is due. The song was released in 1967. It has seniority. lol
True
malcasablanca
Actually this song was written for The Bourne Identity series of books.
So, this song was written for Jason Bourne. ;-)
I love the fact that the Twilight Zone pinball game used the baseline of this song in game
My Grandparents own that machine
@@herrerasaurstudios7028 Cool
Just as I read this the breakdown came on with that sweet bass riff
When MTV was in all its glory, this and Robert Palmer "Addicted To Love" were the best videos to me.
I saw Robert Palmer in concert in the 1980's. He had a very beautiful blonde in a Playboy outfit playing the drums. The interesting thing is he put the drums close to the edge of the stage.
Love this song!!!! The message it sends is so true!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
This and "Lunatic Fringe" might be two of the most underrated songs from the 1980's.
So timely.
Thank you!! My thoughts exactly.
No they are not. They both played constantly on the radio and on mtv.
First song I thought of...great minds eh. 1st three pints are on me if you come to Oz.
@@billymack333 yeah so I went to go see RUSH in Dallas I the early 80's. it was opened by Red Ryder ( lunatic fringe) and then Golden ear ring. Crazy awesome!!!!!
The jam at the end of this tune is sick. Love the bass line.
Timeless, one of the real Dutch classics.
And cruising....!
One of the best songs of the 1980's.
Best band to ever come out of the Netherlands.
Diesel! Don't forget about them!
Funny thing is, they were a one hit wonder in the mid 70's with a massive hit called Radar Love. So overplayed, and most of my friends were like "Meh" Even though it was a huge hit. 20 years go by, well forgotten, and then they put out this excellent song. Mindblow
Family Homeland PRIDE🇳🇱🇨🇦
God bless you! This songs been playing in my head for weeks...finally know the name!
I like how human chracters in the HEAV flying through the portal to enter Hollow Earth. It can be heard briefly after they and Kong arrive in Hollow Earth before it fades out.
Ah yes. Songs that tell a story. Lyrical genius here unlike the crap that’s on the radio today! This song is absolutely stellar! The solo in this long version is phenomenal and so bluesy and raw! Just one of the top 10 songs of all time. I was 14 when I first heard it
Another amazing song by these folks! An all time classic!
I officially declare this the signature song of 2020.
It was always going to be a Twilight Zoney 2020 when Rod Serling's (creator of the Twilight Zone) wife passed away in January.
It's like the universe went
"Huh.
You just beat me to the punch on this one . I was just thinking the same thing for 2021
Good call. And the "B" side is Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider
God bless you Without measure amen August 13th 2021 thank God 🙏🙏😅🙏😅🙏😅
Great harmonies. Great song.
Two hits from this band. And they are solid gold hits. International, timeless hits. and in their second language.
I'll take their two over hundreds, nay thousands, by others.
They had dozens more hits in the Netherlands, throughout decades.
Try Back Home, When The Lady Smiles, Ce Soir for starters. My favorite is the lesser known Instant Poetry.
I think JimD is talking about the only 2 hits they had in the United States, "Radar Love" and this one.
Yes they did , Great band .
Such a KICKASS KILLER tune 🤟🤟
This is a timeless song. It comes on, you turn up the volume and just jam.
Godzilla X Kong brought me here! even tho as a child of the 80's this is one of my fav banger hits!
Adam Wingard loves his 80s
From The Guest to GXK
Had a huge smile when I heard
that line in the song of where am I to go now that I've gone too far is one of the best lines ever in a song that I've ever heard in my 58 years lifetime
I'm very partial to the line "Place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned!" myself. :)
+David Howland make for a nice tattoo, i like.
Layla Sims I've never heard of that song, I might listen to it now!
I first heard this song in 82' when I was a sophomore in high school. It still rocks as well today, nuff said!
Yeah I was a junior.
I was 7 back then but I concur
@@aarongranda7825 I was a freshman. You guys made fun of me.😂
I was 6 in 1982 and 16 in 1992 when I was double-crossed on exchange to Mosbach and Dresden Germany and Prague Czechoslovakia during the Siege of Sarajevo and Nazi riots when I was 16.
Me too! Senior year in HS, worked part time at the local mall Thom McCann shoe store in Jersey City and heard this in the car on a Saturday w my new boyfriend driving to Staten Island. Very specific, but I Loved this song so much my brain must’ve registered everything that was happening in the moment. L O L
Best jam band ever. Saw 'em and they only played this and Radar Love. They were on stage for about 1 and half hours.
I nominate Golden Earing for the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Long over due.
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame has become a joke , with rappers in it these days .
Golden Earring is a Legendary Band .
Fuck your damn R&R HAF!
Hahaha! Your awsome, man!
Bravo
So so so Super 80's. Looking back at it now, I kinda love it.
eqsheiky I'll always love the 80's. Great times & great tunes.
Great song, great voices! ❤
I still crank it when I hear this song! Love it!
One of the best songs ever and Caesar is one of rock's greatest drummers.
Such an underrated classic.
@ 2:48 ...engage the fog machine, then enter those gorgeous, long legged, dancing succubi! Absolute 80's classic...! ♥
Sitting at a light , kids beside me blasting rap in their booming car, so I had to blast this at max volume, little did they know I had a better booming stereo than there's and this sounded a hell of a lot better lol!
Rhoads girl= I love you for this post alone. :)
Rock 🎸 🤘 forever!!!!
Did you "blow up" your speakers yet Rhoad's girl?
That monotone vocal repeat in the intro verse makes the intro so much better. I love this song
Radar love also 😅
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you got to rock with your dad ❤
@@karenkennedy8074
Thank you. He was an awesome man and taught me so much. I wouldn't be where I am now if not for him.
Very sorry for your loss. Just remember your Dad is still rockin'on in heaven.💖
Anyone else love the bit where he's on the stage?
I like when the hit men are on stage singing backup
A classic crime movie inside a 5min music video. Awesome song! And that bass line!!!!
Wow! I almost forgot that MTV played music videos in a galaxy far far away...
This song has always reminded me of film noir. Love it.
Was just driving down the road and this came on the radio. I immediately got my music finder out so I could have this song 💜 love it
one has to give credit to the video director /editor and the story liners for piecing it together..makes it one of the best videos of the eighties
I’m sure the character that Barry Hay plays in the video would disagree with you.
How did this song slip through my radar? I’m obsessed with it, played it on repeat all day yesterday!
I'd suggest radar love, when the lady smiles, Bombay, going to the run, and burning stuntman by the golden earring. They recorded a great acoustic album as well
Maybe your radar lacks love 😊
How could you .miss THIS??!
Definitely one of the best rock songs of all time. I want so badly to be back in the 1980s. At least I was happy then and the music was great.
Just discovered this band. Why have I never heard of them before. I freaking love them
"Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far?" 1982 was a good year!
I ask myself this often.
@@wot4me2 I hear you. 💯

Oh the memories!! This song is still an awesome song!!
James Anderson! Yeah, seriously bad ass song. Makes you want to jam and dance. Where do I go now that I've gone too far?! Great lyrics!
its one of those creepy videos that really captures the song's intent. I remember being afraid of the video when I was a kid... something about it gave the chills. Now I know the vid was an absolute masterpiece in capturing the song.
2021 this still is great!
Something had to be....
