At first I was thinking "not thunderbird 2, how could you". After watching I say great work, awesome conversion. Now I'm thinking of one similar for standard 40k. Would like to try a post heresy chaos look, not sure which yet though. Keep it up and I look forward to more of your work and ideas.
Yeah I’m expecting to get some flak for this one! 🤣 I’m glad you enjoyed it mate and thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt 🤣 I actually am really happy with how it turned out - not bad for a tenner off of eBay eh? Thanks for watching and commenting brother 👍
@@maddokminis it gives purpose to a toy that would otherwise have wound up in a scrap heap. You'll use it for games and it looks great as a display peace. The painting also blends it with 40k only feed back I could give is that if/when I build similar I'm going to add plasticard to make it more boxy and to cover the wheels under the granny grating in the pod.
@@manzokushisan 👍 yep I think that is very fair! There is a lot of potential to bulk this particular toy out. I hope that you do decide to do a roided up chaos version! Cheers mate ✊
I'm gonna be honest, I would probably re-done the nose of the aircraft to be more box like and maybe have the Rhino hangar be stationary and take some inspiration from the Serenity from Firefly. Tbh I already have a scratch built Thunderhawk but I'll probably buy one of these bad boys and convert them more to my liking so thanks for the inspiration I've already ordered a Thunderbird for myself
Thanks for the feedback and I’m always happy if my builds lead to other ideas 🤘 my strong advice would be to avoid fixing the pod - it’s a really cool feature and you need not bother with the fuss of fitting the rhino in!! Also you can have a completely different look when the pod is removed which is nice - like it might carry a redemptor in the with mag hooks in the middle or something - keep your options open mate - once it’s glued in place that’s it. TBH I fully expected to get loads more flak for this than I have received so far (being thunderbird 2 and all) but I am super happy with it - I actually really like the design of the ship - not very grimdark I will grant you but I’ve never been much into the flying boxes (thunderhawks) 😉🤣 I really hope yours turns out exactly as you want mate because that is the most important thing - not what anybody else might think. Best of luck and thank you again for the feedback and for watching! Much appreciated 👍
@@maddokminis Thank you for responding, it means a lot and yeah I'll probably make it more my own, that's the fun of it, I just love the asthetic of the boxy almost flying tank. If I ever get around to finish it and paint it I'll try to find a way to send it to you plus mine came with the smaller yellow ship so I might also convert it ...
Thank you mate I really appreciate the positive feedback - I think this one has polarised opinions a bit!🤣 I’m really glad you like it! Thanks for watching! 👍
This was amazing man! Loved how it fit the Rhinos. Very cool brother. It is these types of crafts that are simply fantastic to be creative with the tools at hand and this was another great build my friend 😉👍.
Thank you mate! I really appreciate that. I know this one may rub some folks up the wrong way - (after all it is thunderbird 2) but I super enjoyed this build! Very glad that you liked the build brother and thanks for watching as always! 🙌
I can recommend it! Super cheap too! With postage, £15 off eBay - not a bad price for a super heavy flyer in warhammer eh? 🤣 thanks for watching mate 👍
Awesome work! I used to do a lot of custom mini work and know the frustration of using manual tools for cutting through so much plastic. After acquiring a Dremel (rotary) tool, it made such work so much easier. So if you happened to not be familiar before, I hope you find it worth your while.
Cool build, I've been poking around for space toys to use for a terrain feature and the Thunderbirds stuff is on the list to check out now! Gonna have a sticky beak around the charity and second hand shops this weekend, I think.
Thank you for the positive feedback! 🙂 yes this particular toy scales really well with 40k and is packed with features that you can experiment with 👍 thank you for watching 🙏
LOL :-D And that's the second toy I have laying around to do that same conversion. Great work! De newest TBird 2 looks quite adequately modern for 30k/40K. The older one is more rounded, and fits (only) more in the Horus heresy esthetic IMO. I would try putting a turret on top or below nose, though. And maybe even extra jet engines made from deodorant rollers on the sides 👍
😄 thank you - I’m tempted to return to this and have another go actually! I have another one of these toys that I got cheap so watch this space! Did you enjoy the rhino fitting inside the pod?🤘😄 thanks for watching mate 👍
Hey not bad, will look cool on the gaming table, Never really liked the new look of Thunderbirds, the original TV series got a lot in my humble opinion but this Warhammer conversion works pretty well I reckon and I like the fact you kept it functional too, just adds to the immersion ! You had better make jet sounds when you land it on the table mate ;) ... I know I would !! :D :D :D
Yes I make jet sounds every time mate - I do restrain myself from doing the thunderbirds theme music!! 🤣 I appreciate the feedback mate - I really enjoyed this one actually! Cheers for taking the time to watch! 🙏
