In the us. Social distance is 6 feet. In vietnam, it is 1 foot.

Yep because there have been no community cases since late November - and this is a wedding, with family and friends

Because the us is on top 1 corona virut case ... Việt Nam fight the virus so well that they're one of the country that have great positive growth on gdp % in 2020 even though Vietnam is near China ... Vietnam is also in the top 38 countries with the most tourist in the world... when the first covid case found in Việt Nam the goverment already decide to close the street and all the store , mall etc ... also force people to wear mask and stay inside the house...whenever people flight to Vietnam they get a covid test and quarantine ...bcs of that everything is freely open long ago and Vietnam already make some of their own vaccine ...so now the only new covi case in Vietnam is bcs of people entering illegally from neighbor country

Hi Rich. I don’t know you but I can pretty much say from your vlogs that your in-laws are amongst the upper echelons of Danang- This is not a “typical” banquette.

You realise this isn’t our wedding right? It’s also nothing to do with my in-laws or their family. This was a wedding of my wife’s best friend - my mother in law was there as she’s friends with the bride’s aunt. Also this is in Hanoi

It's the first time I see people giving gold rings to the bride at a wedding . Most of the time , we give money to help the new married couple to pay their wedding expenses or useful gifts for their new home . The jewels for the bride are always given by the groom's mother

Interesting - it seems pretty common practice in the weddings people close to me have been involved with

As her best friend I want to give her lots of money, but her and I dont want to hold that much money in cash. She also got some money from someone like their parents's friends or someone not that close to them like 300.000VND, 500.000VND or something. If she need cash she still can easy selling gold to get money. I wonder where are you in Vietnam because giving gold is normal

@@MaiNguyen-rm5lj I am living in HCMC . I already saw some guests giving gold at a wedding like framed sculptures or wishing words made of gold , but never jewels
Maybe because you and her are very close friends , so you both had a preliminary agreement for the gift .

Giving gold and jewel are normal, you didn't see it doesn't mean it's not normal.

Yeah I love the northern accent - its much easier to learn 😅

@@RichWatson The standard Saigon voice is also good. There are many foreigners learning Vietnamese with a Saigon accent 😁

Actually my first vn teacher was from Saigon and I found him very easy to understand. I find it hard to understand the central accent sometimes 😅

Rich , do you find vietnamese wedding party very weird ? As soon as they finish eating , the guests stand up and take off right away . They never arrive on time and always leave early . Those habits and culture you have to accept when you marry a Viet girl and plan to live in this country

Yeah I'm all good with it, it was a great wedding that was well orchestrated.
