I was always more partial to Coat of Many Colors, though mostly it's autobiographical nature and the fact I grew up dirt poor wearing patched up hand-me-downs.
I think Loretta Lynn’s Coal Miners Daughter should’ve been in top five and not just an honorable mention. But otherwise this is a decent list! I will watch and like all your videos reacting to classic country if you decide to do that, I love it. Have a good day!
I, too, am partial to both the song and the movie. I was nine or ten years old when I asked my mother to take me to see it. And it has been one of my favorite movies ever since.
Same, if he listens to the full songs - no more of these lists where the songs get talked over. Lol. I'd also be happy to see him react to the movie Coal Miner's Daughter. Great movie! :)
I can remember listening to "Mama Tried" sitting in an airport at 18 yrs of age heading to Boot camp as an "alternative" to jail. As a young, troubled man, it hit me hard and the military was exactly what I needed to "gently persuade me" to straighten my life out.
A little surprised Alabama didn't get at least an honorable mention, they had a hundred songs that hit the charts even if no particular one hit quite the level those on the list did. I'd recommend "Dixieland Delight" (and "If You're Gonna Play in Texas") Seems to be mostly solo singers, but likely the best duo country music has ever seen is Brooks and Dunn. Big fan of their song "Neon Moon". An older group that doesn't seem nearly as well-known these days (still made both the Country Music and Gospel halls of fame), but one I still really like is the Statler Brothers. I'd recommend "The Class of '57" (or if you want to be confused about references to old things, "Do You Remember These?" is good) Ring of Fire is iconic, but what Johnny Cash did to "Hurt", a Nine Inch Nails song of all things, is still astounding. Definitely worth checking out if you aren't familiar with it.
All these songs are great but according to CMA the list is different. I highly recommend “Kiss An Angel Goodmorning” Charley Pride (which is on the list) ang “ For the Good Times by Ray Price.
There is such a wealth of Country music, I can't begin to narrow down even my top 20, but I was surprised that Reba McEntire didn't make the list at all.
Any list like this is incomplete without legends like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, and Conway Twitty. I could never pick a Top 10 best country songs...but two that I recommend are “The Dance” by Garth Brooks and “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait.
I stopped the video at 9:04 to give my top 3: "I Fall To Pieces" and "Crazy" by Patsy Cline and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones. Hank Williams and Patsy Cline are two of the most tragic artists in country music. Their careers were cut short at such a young age, Hank at 29 and Patsy at 30, and both had a big legacy and potentially more to come. edit: I was almost right! lol. Elvis is Elvis, there is no genre that could categorize him. He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, part of the Mississippi delta where Blues originated and gospel, country, R&B, and maybe a little jazz all came together to influence who Elvis became.
I was thinking the same thing. When Elvis was mentioned I thought he would not make this list because he was sort of a genre all his own. Failing to put him on this list certainly is not an insult to him. It's merely saying that there should be a separate category called simply "Elvis".
How the hell did I not know that Willie Nelson wrote crazy?? I'm so stunned right now *Edit: for country song recs, try some Martina McBride and Garth Brooks. Maybe "Independence Day" and "When the Thunder Rolls." Both great songs and huge hits for those two.
You should react to the full song of “Mamas Don’t Let You’re Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” since it’s a really great song and you seemed especially amused by the lyrics to it. Also “All My Exes Live In Texas” by George Strait. I discovered that song listening to the country station in GTA: San Andreas 😂
Maybe "Hello Darlin'" or "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" although, not a deserving candidate for this list, my favorite Twitty Ditty is "Tight Fittin' Jeans".
Too many to count... Brooks & Dunn “Neon Moon” ❤️ Maybe because I saw them live, outdoors...and there was a full moon behind Ronnie as he sang...sigh...
I appreciate the old music especially Patsy Cline and George Jones. I think my list would be a little different. I lean more towards George Straight, Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson and always Dolly Parton
My mom worked for a country station in San Diego for years. She was at a multi act concert and was backstage. She sat down at a table and a random guy sits next to her. They chat for a while and he asked her if she was interested in meeting anyone. She said she was looking for George Strait. He was the man she was talking to. Lol
Its so surprising to me that not a single Waylon song was on this list. Between luckenbach Texas, I've always been crazy, are you sure Hank done it this way, and countless others, I don't see a top ten list without him.
In literally every bar in the Southern US in the past 30 years, the crowds spontaneously break out into Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places." It's wild to think of people not having heard it.
Dolly does all genres. She just got inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fames. All the selections are actual classics. I would have picked Dolly’s “I will always love you “as #1. Whitney covered Dolly’s version and Dolly wrote this song and “Jolene” the same day.
3:25 Yeah, Donkey was singin it for a little bit there. 3:38 Personally I prefer Lady by Kenny Rogers. It was written by Lionel Ritchie! 4:58 There's a neat cover of this song by Enkh Erdene, a Mongolian country singer, and a guy who doesn't even know English! It shows you that country music can reach anyone anywhere. 6:10 Hank Sr. is like Father Time in the country music industry. He shaped country music as it was along with Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. Not to mention his son Hank Jr. is incredible in his own right. 7:20 My guess is Reba McEntire, my favorite. 8:45 AND THERE IS MERLE! Man's a legend. 9:55 I do like Patsy Cline, a genuine country singer back then, and she opened the door for singers like Dolly Parton, Donna Fargo, Loretta Lynn and Reba McEntire. A female icon in the industry! 11:30 Honestly, I can see why that is. It's hard to put together a top 10 all-time country singers list when there's like 25-30 all-time greats. 13:48 If you're into internet culture, Marty Robbins' music would be very familiar, as well as his "don't tread on me" political stance and his hatred of communism/socialism. I can see why he hated it with a passion since the Red Scare was a big deal in America in the 50s and 60s. Songs to listen to are "Big Iron" and "Ain't I Right?"
My favorite country song is George Strait's "I'm Carrying Your Love With Me." It's beautiful and makes me feel nostalgic. Plus, I always sing it as "I'm carrying your love, Whitney." Like George is singing it to me. ❤️ 😃
When I was in the hospital for a month I managed to watch The Gambler movies with Kenny Rogers and Reba McCentire. Also, I got into those early morning western shows like Maverick with James Garner and Wanted Dead or Alive with Steve McQueen
Kabir, this was amazing! I was raised on all types of music. And this list is pretty good. Hard to not have Dolly Parton or Reba McIntyre on it. But all of these are great. You should definitely dive into George Straight and Garth Brooks. Kenny Roger's did many duets with Dolly Parton. All around good music.
You should check out all of these songs and hear them all the way through if you've not heard them before, and of course listen to the discography of each of these artists (and Dolly!). There are a ton of great country singers not on this list, so naturally not all are going to make it into the 10 slots, but also doing top 10 lists is a very subjective thing. My dad would put Merle's song at #1, as He Stopped Loving Her Today is his all-time favorite country song (and at 78, I imagine he's heard them all! Lol). :) Elvis started off singing country, but switched to rock n roll and is considered the King of Rock these days. Depending on what stats you look at, it can be argued The Beatles were bigger than Elvis, but it is estimated that more than one billion Elvis records have been sold worldwide, more than anyone in record industry history, so at least in the US, he's considered the bigger deal of the two.
Oh, for sure. I feel like this list, as good as it is, was made by someone with some gaps in their knowledge. Which song, though? I lean toward Song of the South.
This is a pretty good list. Picking ten songs out of such a big genre will inevitably leave something out. One I'd like to have seen on the list is Streets of Bakersfield by Dwight Yoakam and Buck Owens.
So many songs & artists to choose from. I can think of so many that didn't even get mentioned. Songs before l was born & after. It's a deep well to dive into. A lot of songs l witnessed becoming hits. It just amazes me all the great singers & songs l have heard. You name one & then have to leave out another. I couldn't make a list of just 10. How about a list of 10 songs by one artist. That wouldn't be as hard. But then you've got artist like Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Hank Williams Sr. & Hank Jr., Dolly Parton, Marty Robbins, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson, Donna Fargo, Barbara Mandrell, Merle Haggard, The Statler Brothers, Willie Nelson, Don Williams, Crystal Gayle, Tom T. Hall, Dottie West, Kenny Rogers, Jim Reeves, Emmylou Harris, Charly McClain, Brenda Lee, Bobbie Bare, Buck Owens & there are sooo many others l haven't even mentioned yet. And l haven't gone past the 1970's. I'm glad l'm not the one that decides who makes these kind of list. I better stop now because l keep thinking of other names l haven't typed in.
I love classic country like Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton. Modern times, I like Hootie and the Blowfish song "Let Her Cry" because it's lovely.
Definitely start your country music journey on this channel! Some good songs are "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" by Patty Loveless, "Ol' Red" by Blake Shelton, and "Riding With Private Malone" by David Ball.
Patty Loveless and Chris Stapleton recently did a duet of "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" with Morgane Stapleton singing harmonies. It's really good if you haven't seen it yet.
""He Stopped Loving Her Today" "Folsom Prison Blues" (you have to sing along) "Jambalaya" "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" "Ring of Fire" "Country Folks Can Survive" (Kick 'em, Bocephus) "You Were Always On My Mind" (I find Willie loathsome, but this is a great song) "Jackson" (Johnny and June) "Stand By Your Man" "Coal Miner's Daughter" Honorable mentions: "You'll Be Sorry" (Dwight Yoakam - a rather wry and even amusing song) "Blues for Dixie" "All My Exes Live in Texas" "Your Cheatin' Heart" "Sunday Morning Coming Down" "The Grand Tour" (so sad) "Mama Tried" (one of my all-time favorites) ""The Battle of New Orleans" (just so fun!)
There are several different genres of country music there's the old country music, the newer country music, and then there's the Outlaw country music. Outlaw country music is most known for being done by artist like Willie Nelson, Hank Williams jr., Toby Keith, and Trace Adkins and is known for not being the usual country music. A lot of the newer country music has more of a pop feel to it than the older Country Music which has more Bluegrass to it. Country Music can be love songs, sad songs, or fun songs. Some artists I would recommend listening to that are country music artist is definitely Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Brooks & Dunn, Tom T Hall, Patsy Cline, The Judds, Wynonna Judd, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (Fishin in the dark).
There are some really great older country music stars. One of the ones that I loved when I was younger was Roger Miller. He had some songs that were fun to sing along with. King of the Road, Dang Me, OO-De Lally (from the Disney film Robin Hood), You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd, Do Wacka Do & Chug a Lug Chug a Lug.
If you want a classic western album that had a HUGE influence on not only country, but also Elvis and the Beatles is Marty Robbin’s Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs!
Love this album. My favorite, El Paso. Also love Marty And Merle Haggard's song, Pancho & Lefty. I hope he reacts to it because he really seems to be enjoying the western movies he's reacting to. Now that's a gunfighter ballad. :)
You won't be disappointed with any of George Strait songs. There is a reason his nicknames are King George and the King of Country. Just search a list of his songs and take your pick of anything there. You won't be disappointed with anything you find. Garth Brooks is another artist where you can do the same thing. But if/when you watch "Friends in Low Places" be sure to find a live performance that includes the additional 3rd verse mentioned in this video.
Recommendations from my best of country play list We Can’t Make It Here - James McMurtry Chocktaw Bingo - James McMurtry In Spite of Ourselves - John Prime & Iris DeMent A Boy Named Sue - Johnny Cash Stupid Texas Song - Austin Lounge Lizards Goodbye Earl - The Chicks Old Home Filler-up an’ Keep on Truckin Cafe - CW McCall You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly - Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty Red Solo Cup - Toby Keith This playlist is guaranteed to bring a smile and make a bad drive a good one. Enjoy.
Very subjective list, but pretty good. I agree Kabir, that I was surprised by no Dolly Parton, like "Jolene". Could have also included The Dance or Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks, I hpoe you Dance by Lee Ann Womack. Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw,
Although I don't know much about Country music; I agree with you -- seems like something from Dolly Parton would be on the list. As with Elvis, granted, a few of his songs might have a sort of country feel, but as the King of Rock N Roll, I would not have expected to see him on this list.
I love George Strait, Alan Jackson, Reba, Toby Keith, and Marty Robbins and to many others to name lol. You should listen to paint me a Birmingham by Tracy Lawrence.
There is a great singer that few have reacted to his name is Ricky Van Shelton! HE did Statue of a Fool, I'll Leave This World Loving You etc. Smooth baritone I love his voice. I think you would enjoy listening to him. He never got the recognition due him tho.
Ricky Van Shelton was an incredible singer! But some years ago he just suddenly decided to walk away from performing. I often look up some of his songs and listen for a while, he was so good!!
Welcome to bottomless rabbit hole that is Country (& folk) music! One song/singer will lead to another & another & another … in an endless cycle. These songs grab you because they are centered on life, feelings, & often history. They tell relatable stories & reflect universal truths.
Hey buddy… I’ve listened to Country Music my Whole Life and there are SO MANY GREAT SONG out there, that 10 isn’t even enough… but I would say the 90’s had some Great artists in Country Music!!!
This video really really leans into old country. When Garth Brooks in the newest artist on the list for a song released over 30 years ago. The only newer song was an honorable mention. In the mid to late 90s Garth Brooks was one of the biggest music acts in the world, regardless of genre. Look up "The Garth Brooks World Tour (1996-1998)" Look at the Wikipedia article and the list of tour dates and then remember he was not a country singer that stood in one place and sang/played guitar....he was running around the stage constantly while doing all that, and doing it almost ever night.
I agree to a point. Because, this is all time not just the new stuff. This was the foundation of what is now pop country that has loud music and can't hear the lyrics. Maybe I'm just getting too old. 😵💫
IMHO country music, as a genre and a culture, honors it's history more than most genres of music do (save perhaps Blues and true Classical) therefore a truly great country song must have stood the test of time. It's not that the great songs of the 90s and beyond are not great in and of themselves but they have not had enough time to prove they transcend their momentary and generational popularity to become icons of the genre.
@@TakersSoulGirl22 Selling out concerts maybe. Not all country acts only ever record country songs, including some of those in this top 10 list, but some get stick for it and others do not. I am a big fan of Billy Joel's yet all of Garth Brooks Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers have covered his songs.
"Coat of Many Colors" like "Apple Jack" good songs from her early period, and "Apple Jack" is even about illegal brandy made by freeze distillation. "Robert" is another good early Dolly song. It's about a woman breaking up with her boyfriend because, uhm, "reasons".
If you can, get a hold of Ken Burns' Country Music documentary series. It is amazing history and flavor of country music. I know what you mean about the nostalgic feel of the music...if you close your eyes, you are in a country bar and the music is filtered thru smoke and the sound of boots on bare wood floors.
Faron Young - Hello Walls Tennessee Ernie Ford - 16 Tons Brenda Lee - I'm Sorry Jerry Reed - She Got the Gold Mine (I Got the Shaft) Johnny Horton - North to Alaska Bobbie Gentry - Mississippi Delta Blues Jim Stafford - Wildwood Weed Those are some of my favorite country songs.
Lyrics to Stand By Your Man Sometimes it's hard to be a woman Giving all your love to just one man You'll have bad times And he'll have good times Doin' things that you don't understand But if you love him you'll forgive him Even though he's hard to understand And if you love him, oh be proud of him 'Cause after all he's just a man Stand by your man Give him two arms to cling to And something warm to come to When nights are cold and lonely Stand by your man And show the world you love him Keep giving all the love you can Stand by your man
I've never been much of a country fan but some songs have made their way into mainstream music over the years. This video reminds me of the Time Life infomercials when I was a kid. They were also sells country music collections. Johnny Cash would be a great musician to react to.
There's not enough time left on earth, so many, many great great country songs and singers, 67 at this time for every one favorite you reflect on many others you love. So I'd say just love the sing the story and how it can touch your soul.
Kabir, I would suggest you doing a review of Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, the video is very powerful. Keep up the good work mate.
Look for a list of the top 10 country ARTISTS and you'll see something more like you're thinking of. So many of these songs were covered by many country and pop artists, giving them a status of their own. Dolly wrote and co-wrote a large number of songs. While not mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of her songs is on this list.
These songs are all great, however, my top 10 would be different than yours. Music is subjective. And Elvis has done a few songs that could be considered country but is not considered a country artist. Check out Tim McGraw's 'Humble & kind'. It is beautiful & for laughs try Toby Keith's 'As good as I once was' or 'How do you like me now?' Blake Shelton's 'Gods country' is awesome & I absolutely love the duet he did with his wife Gwen Stefani called 'Nobody but you'. He has a new one out right now that is called 'No Body' which is fun as well. George Strait is considered the King of country & has over 60 #1 hits. 'Check yes or no' is a sweet one. 'Troubadour' is a more recent one & he is reflecting on his long career & I love it. His voice is like butter. So soothing. You can't go wrong with anything by him.
There are SO many timeless classic country artists & songs that trying to make a top ten is impossible. This list is a drop in the bucket of the best country songs. I do think that if Kenny Rogers is on this list the song should have been “Lady” but that’s just my opinion. I loved “The Gambler” & “Coward of the County” (two of his best known) when they came out tho.
June, Anita and their sister Helen had a singing group with their mother mother Mother Maybelle who was one of the original Carter Family members, and after June met Johnny back stage at a show they started signing with him on records and on the road.
More honorable mentions: Bobby Gentry's "Ode to Billy Joe," Burl Ives' version of "Ghost Riders in the Sky," and "One More Ride" or "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" performed by Roy Rogers and The Sons of the Pioneers." (The first two are rather haunting.)
Tammy (Stand By Your Man) and George Jones (Stopped Loving Her Today) were once married and there is currently a movie about them. I remember as a kid hearing Glen Campbell By The Time I Get To Phoenix and Wichita Lineman on the radio. Please listen to a couple of Glen Campbell songs.
This list was good, but I think it's hard to pick a top 10 of best country songs. George Strait will always be my number one. Alan Jackson, Brooks n Dunn, Reba, etc. Anything 80's through early 2000's you can't really go wrong. Modern country, in my opinion, isn't country anymore aside from a few artists that can still tell a story.
I'll say that overall, this is a good starter set to dip your toes into country music. The thing with any top 10, top 20,top 50 or top 100 list, whether it relates to artists or songs, is always going to be a matter of opinion. It can be said for about any style of music, any decade or even just certain years even. Your list is bound to be different than my list.
Good reaction! For a newer country singer, try the original video of the song "Blue" Leann Rhimes. She recorded it when she was 13, came out when she was 14. She's amazing.
Some all-time great country songs that weren't on that list (but probably should have been): Garth Brooks - The Dance Reba McEntyre - Fancy Brooks & Dunn - Neon Moon The Eagles - Desperado Marty Robbins - El Paso But it's not just classic country. There's a lot of really great country out there even today. Just don't look for it on the radio. Check out some of these: Tyler Childers - Nose to the Grindstone Orville Peck - Dead of Night Colter Wall - Sleepin on the Blacktop Sierra Ferrell - In Dreams American Aquarium - Losing Side of Twenty Five
My parents stopped letting me listen to country music after I attempted to sing “Friends in Low Places” in the middle of church. I was four. Some sixteen years later, my twin cousins had a similar situation. They burst out singing a song titled “Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug”. Go figure what that’s about. And yes, Donkey did sing part of “On the Road Again” in the first Shrek film.
I think everyone's list would be different. Lol! I'd definitely need a Dolly song, no Willie and, more George Strait. I don't hate Willie but, his voice is not for me. Would love to see you react to Amarillo By Morning by George Strait!
These are all good country standards. The genre has been around a long time so naturally several someone's have to be left off. I wasn't a fan until I moved to North Carolina but now I enjoy older country. My wife LOVES all the new stuff. Just put in Hot Country 2022 in Spotify and there you go.
Wait In The Truck by Hardy has a very controversial message in it. It's certainly worth a reaction and I'd be interested to hear your take on how those situations would be dealt with in your country
I remember back in the early 80's at the Nevada State Fair the was a new upcoming country singer on stage who could barely draw a crowd of 50 people by the name of Garth Brooks. Who knew? I shoulda got his autograph.
If you want to explore country groups, the best you can explore is Home Free. They're the only country all vocal band who create their own instruments and you'll never miss the instruments. My favorite is Man of Constant Sorrow which will challenge you to believe that there's no instruments. The guys did a video of Kenny Rogers The Gambler. During quarantine they released two videos a month and they're great. They also do a cover of Patsy Cline's Crazy which is also a must see. Elvis was never considered a country singer...he is considered the King of Rock n Roll. He also performed hymns and spirituals. Okay, last note Home Free does covers of Johnny Cash's Ring Of Fire and Folsom Prison Blues. There's not a genre they don't do well... including a video of Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera. They can't be topped!!
I had a feeling Johnny Cash and Ring of Fire would be number one but I’m astounded Dolly Parton and Jolene were not on this list. Also, if you liked Garth Brooks, you should check out his songs; The Dance, The Thunder Rolls and Unanswered Prayers. Phenomenal songs!
I second that 👍👍
Those are some good ones

Also, Garth Brooks does an excellent version of American Pie that will make you like it again.
I was always more partial to Coat of Many Colors, though mostly it's autobiographical nature and the fact I grew up dirt poor wearing patched up hand-me-downs.
Rodeo!! Amazing song
I think Loretta Lynn’s Coal Miners Daughter should’ve been in top five and not just an honorable mention. But otherwise this is a decent list! I will watch and like all your videos reacting to classic country if you decide to do that, I love it. Have a good day!
The biographical movie of the same name is great, too!
I, too, am partial to both the song and the movie. I was nine or ten years old when I asked my mother to take me to see it. And it has been one of my favorite movies ever since.
@@joelarnold3234 oh yes!!! I love that movie. @kabirconsiders should react ☺️
Same, if he listens to the full songs - no more of these lists where the songs get talked over. Lol. I'd also be happy to see him react to the movie Coal Miner's Daughter. Great movie! :)
Amen!
I can remember listening to "Mama Tried" sitting in an airport at 18 yrs of age heading to Boot camp as an "alternative" to jail. As a young, troubled man, it hit me hard and the military was exactly what I needed to "gently persuade me" to straighten my life out.
You said "Boot camp" I'm sure the D.I's were really nice and understanding
Rarely has a song told a more complete story in just one line than "I turned 21 in prison doing life without parole."
Thank you for your service!!!
A little surprised Alabama didn't get at least an honorable mention, they had a hundred songs that hit the charts even if no particular one hit quite the level those on the list did. I'd recommend "Dixieland Delight" (and "If You're Gonna Play in Texas")

Ring of Fire is iconic, but what Johnny Cash did to "Hurt", a Nine Inch Nails song of all things, is still astounding. Definitely worth checking out if you aren't familiar with it.
Dolly should be on the list. However the songs that are on here are all legendary.
I'll just chalk it up to she's incomparable and that's why they didn't put her on a list. ;)
All these songs are great but according to CMA the list is different.
I highly recommend “Kiss An Angel Goodmorning” Charley Pride (which is on the list) ang “ For the Good Times by Ray Price.
Honestly if she was on here she might take up half the list.
There is such a wealth of Country music, I can't begin to narrow down even my top 20, but I was surprised that Reba McEntire didn't make the list at all.
Leaving both Reba and Dolly out was borderline criminal.
Or that no version of " The Night the Lights went out in Georgia" wasn't on here. Best murder ballad of the seventies.

Probably not as shocked as when I found out "The BeeGee's" wrote Kenny & Dolly's song - Islands In The Stream.
@@bethd1480 wow, I didn't know that one either! I've really gotta pay more attention, geeze
Willy Nelson and Ray Charles 7 Spanish Angels is so good, and Toby Keith with Willie Nelson singing Beer for My horses is also a good song.
I feel like you have to have some Conway Twitty on a list like this. And Waylon Jennings.
Maybe "Hello Darlin'" or "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" although, not a deserving candidate for this list, my favorite Twitty Ditty is "Tight Fittin' Jeans".

Brooks & Dunn “Neon Moon” ❤️

I love Amanda by Waylon Jennings.
Waylon defintaly has some Great Songs......
Thanks for giving Country Music a try too… so many great songs and artist!!!
This list is a good place to start man. Every song on this list is worth a reaction, even the honorable mentions.
Reba is someone else who needed some love from this list. Also Patty Loveless.
My favorite of all time is Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Such a great fiddle player and quite a card. ❤
Asleep at the Wheel didn't make the list either.
Kabir, there isn't a bad song by Garth Brooks or George Strait. Give them a chance
When I was in high school I Loved listening to Randy Travis.
Now you're doing something I love. I grew up on country music and it's my favorite. I always give your videos a like. Have a good day.
Lol). :)
Elvis started off singing country, but switched to rock n roll and is considered the King of Rock these days. Depending on what stats you look at, it can be argued The Beatles were bigger than Elvis, but it is estimated that more than one billion Elvis records have been sold worldwide, more than anyone in record industry history, so at least in the US, he's considered the bigger deal of the two.
Decent list, but definitely check out the group Alabama. They had countless number one hits.
Oh, for sure. I feel like this list, as good as it is, was made by someone with some gaps in their knowledge. Which song, though? I lean toward Song of the South.
Song of the south is great for sure but I lean towards mountain music mostly due to the fiddle solo
Country music tunes always tell a story.
Hearing these songs makes me miss my grandparents even more 😢
I love classic country like Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton.
Before he cheats Carrie underwood as well
Don’t forget Alan Jackson!
Patty Loveless and Chris Stapleton recently did a duet of "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" with Morgane Stapleton singing harmonies. It's really good if you haven't seen it yet.
These songs have a timeless appeal
""He Stopped Loving Her Today"
"Folsom Prison Blues" (you have to sing along)
"Jambalaya"
"The Devil Went Down to Georgia"
"Ring of Fire"
"Country Folks Can Survive" (Kick 'em, Bocephus)
"You Were Always On My Mind" (I find Willie loathsome, but this is a great song)
"Jackson" (Johnny and June)
"Stand By Your Man"
"Coal Miner's Daughter"
Honorable mentions:
"You'll Be Sorry" (Dwight Yoakam - a rather wry and even amusing song)
"Blues for Dixie"
"All My Exes Live in Texas"
"Your Cheatin' Heart"
"Sunday Morning Coming Down"
"The Grand Tour" (so sad)
"Mama Tried" (one of my all-time favorites)
""The Battle of New Orleans" (just so fun!)
That Marty Robbins album also introduced overdrive fuzz.
Love this album. My favorite, El Paso. Also love Marty And Merle Haggard's song, Pancho & Lefty. I hope he reacts to it because he really seems to be enjoying the western movies he's reacting to. Now that's a gunfighter ballad. :)
Friends in Low Places can often be heard as a sing along at stadiums during commercial breaks.
I believe Alan Jackson should have been in the top five especially with his Song Remember When
You won't be disappointed with any of George Strait songs.
Recommendations from my best of country play list
We Can’t Make It Here - James McMurtry
Chocktaw Bingo - James McMurtry
In Spite of Ourselves - John Prime & Iris DeMent
A Boy Named Sue - Johnny Cash
Stupid Texas Song - Austin Lounge Lizards
Goodbye Earl - The Chicks
Old Home Filler-up an’ Keep on Truckin Cafe - CW McCall
You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly - Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty
Red Solo Cup - Toby Keith
This playlist is guaranteed to bring a smile and make a bad drive a good one.
Anything George Strait is well worth your time. The Chair is great and pretty unique.
Hey buddy… I’ve listened to Country Music my Whole Life and there are SO MANY GREAT SONG out there, that 10 isn’t even enough… but I would say the 90’s had some Great artists in Country Music!!!
I really like watching your content. It makes my wife and I happy and we look forward to it.
Cause it's real country back then.Garth sold out along time ago
I agree to a point. Because, this is all time not just the new stuff. This was the foundation of what is now pop country that has loud music and can't hear the lyrics. Maybe I'm just getting too old. 😵💫
IMHO country music, as a genre and a culture, honors it's history more than most genres of music do (save perhaps Blues and true Classical) therefore a truly great country song must have stood the test of time. It's not that the great songs of the 90s and beyond are not great in and of themselves but they have not had enough time to prove they transcend their momentary and generational popularity to become icons of the genre.
@@michelleortega1514 did i miss something? Because I don't know where the sell out comes in. He is still as great in 2023 as he was.way back when.
Dolly Parton- Coat of many colors should have been on the list.. Also I will always love you. Johnny Cash - Hurt. The last Song he did.
Elvis was consider Rock n- Roll
"Coat of Many Colors" like "Apple Jack" good songs from her early period, and "Apple Jack" is even about illegal brandy made by freeze distillation. "Robert" is another good early Dolly song. It's about a woman breaking up with her boyfriend because, uhm, "reasons".
@@Bacopa68 Robert never heard of Going to check it out
Best country concert that I’ve ever attended was Garth Brooks, and I believe it was at the height of his career
Some great songs on the list. Everyone will have their own preferences and numerical order.
Faron Young - Hello Walls
Tennessee Ernie Ford - 16 Tons
Brenda Lee - I'm Sorry
Jerry Reed - She Got the Gold Mine (I Got the Shaft)
Johnny Horton - North to Alaska
Bobbie Gentry - Mississippi Delta Blues
Jim Stafford - Wildwood Weed
Those are some of my favorite country songs.
Lyrics to Stand By Your Man
Sometimes it's hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doin' things that you don't understand
But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him, oh be proud of him
'Cause after all he's just a man
Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
I've never been much of a country fan but some songs have made their way into mainstream music over the years.
Honorable mentions...'Believe' by Brooks & Dunn, Roger Miller 'King of the Road', Alabama 'Mountain Music'
Kabir, I would suggest you doing a review of Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, the video is very powerful. Keep up the good work mate.
l Grew up in the 60's and 70's in small town Georgia and country was the only radio stations we had. I loved country then and I love it today.
You may like Steve Earle, “Someday”, Nowhere Road”, “myOld Friend The Blues “. Rock-country-soulful.
OMG thanks for playing this one. You should try "The Texas Tornados " version of this song. (FREDDY FENDER!)
Dolly's Jolene should be on here. And the Tammy Wynette song was controversial because some of the lyrics, that they didn't show here.
You should try southern rock. Start with the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I would definitely love it if you go down this rabbit hole. I’ll be right there with you! As usual, enjoying your reactions.
Patsy Cline Walking After Midnight . Or Sweet Dreams. All her songs are Solid Gold.
Yeah my mom loves country music. But my Dad loves rock and metal music. For me I’m into rock and metal and rap music.
I grew up on country music. This is older, more traditional country music, in this video. Country music today is different.
Friends in low places is one of the few country songs I will actually listen to
Most country songs are sad . They say that if you play a country song backwards ,you get out of prison and your wife comes back
😂😂😂😂😂
Not true.
@@evanhughes1510 so you don't get out of prison, then? 😄
@@JoeyBlueTx no, I mean not true that most are sad
@@evanhughes1510 I know, I know. 😄
Strat reacting to Country music and your channel will blow-up!
All but 2 of these songs are old school. The modern Country music is awesome.
Feeling is always here the song is a feeling
On the song "He stopped loving her today" is because he passed away.
Some all-time great country songs that weren't on that list (but probably should have been):
Garth Brooks - The Dance
Reba McEntyre - Fancy
Brooks & Dunn - Neon Moon
The Eagles - Desperado
Marty Robbins - El Paso
But it's not just classic country. There's a lot of really great country out there even today. Just don't look for it on the radio. Check out some of these:
Tyler Childers - Nose to the Grindstone
Orville Peck - Dead of Night
Colter Wall - Sleepin on the Blacktop
Sierra Ferrell - In Dreams
American Aquarium - Losing Side of Twenty Five
I'd recommend Hal Ketchum - I Miss My Mary, Small Town Saturday Night, Past the Point of Rescue. :)
Can’t believe they left Dolly off this list.
Yes except who would you take off the list and what Dolly song would you nominate?
@@seanmonetathchi1060 Remove Amarillo by Morning and put in Jolene
@@Nelle606 Fair enough! ⚖ Cheers!
Elvis was his own genre. His music covered the range from Rock and Roll to Gospel to R&B and everything in between.
I remember back in the early 80's at the Nevada State Fair the was a new upcoming country singer on stage who could barely draw a crowd of 50 people by the name of Garth Brooks. Who knew? I shoulda got his autograph.
💜 your reactions!!
They are pure and true!
I would have replaced Tammy Wynette with Loretta Lynn.
