I think in 10 to 15 years celebrations will absolutly skyrocket, expecially for the new collectors in the hobby, for goodness sakes this is an anniversary set.
I agree with you 100% about the celebrations UPC. I bought two of them($284 and $305 out the door) and I’m happy with the price I paid. It’s not to resell but for memories. to hold on to them just so maybe when I’m 90 years old and I have my grandkids sitting around, I can bring it out as a surprise blast from the past and share with them my love for Pokémon and leave them with lasting memories. Ya know something sappy like that hahaha.
The classic collection has the big three starters without the 25th logo and better borders. Outside of that i juet see Celebrations as a Sealed only set.
Flopped? Based on looking at the recent year chart? Lol. Just did the math and personally, I’m up 50 % on the reg etb, 42% on the mini tin displays, 45% on the collector chests and 13 % on the UPCs. With an avg holding time of 1,9 yrs. And I can’t be the only one. If you’re going this far and making a whole video on Celebrations being a failed investment case, I would expect that you’d do a little more than just taking a quick glance at a 1 yr tcgplayer price history
I'm not denying that Celebrations hasn't gained anything since release, it's more the fact that it hasn't done much in the past year conpared to most of the SwSh era. However I do believe it will continue to climb in the future
@@PokeJace “It hasn’t done very well at all since its release - especially the single prices and the sealed product. If you bought into Celebrations.. ‘ouch’. That’s all I’m going to say” This is literally your intro lol
The 151 Zard has already had over 8300 graded in PSA 10. If you do the numbers, the 151 Zard is set to dwarf the Celebrations Zard in sheer grade numbers and will tank worse than the Celebrations Zard did because of it. It only took a few months to reach half the graded numbers that Celebrations took 3 years to reach. It is not a time to hold 151, it's the time to sell. In much the same way that it's a buyers market for Celebrations Zard. Buy low, sell high, this is what that term looks like in practice. Potential 151 re-print in December will decide the fate of this set
Opened like ten zacian lv x colleciton boxes, 2 etbs 1 upc and a bunch of tins! Got three zards, two worthy of grading! Had a blast with this one glad sealed isn't doing well I'll buy some if it gets cheap
Hypothetical scenario... what about when we hit pokemons 50th or even 75th? Do you think the 25th will be a set people look at? Thanks for the amazing content :) I'm sitting on 25 copies of the old art pikachu haha
Personally I love celebrations. It got me back into card collecting. Sure, it might not be the best investment but it’s so fun to open. It will pick up more steam the further removed we are from it.
Celebrations was never very good and Is nothing like 151. 151 is not just a nostalgia bait gimmick set. Celebrations is just a reprint of old cards with an ugly stamp on them. The hype at the time was just because of the nostalgia people have for vintage. But Celebrations is just a collection of old shit rather than a set that stands on it's own.
Weren’t you just saying a couple of days ago that English 151 is underperforming when it comes to the price of singles? Now you said the set is “strong”. I’ve got whiplash.
I understand why this is an important set. I never cared for it. This was a time when pokemon wasn’t doing the best for me with their special sets. Purely personal preference no shade of it’s your jam.
To say Celebrations is dead would be an insult to those that are in fact dead. I would say it is a rotten decaying carcass with an occasional bird pecking at it! It’s only hope is that the 30 year anniversary mark and set somehow shocks some life back into this thing. By the way to say that the nostalgia in the characters that both Celebrations and 151 share is a cause for concern with 151 after the reprint?!?! You’re way off on that. It’s actually a strength of the set CZ would be a better comparison and I expect 151 to do better than CZ assuming equal reprint size and schedule

Celebrations will do good in the future when new collectors find out about it

The release of the Classic Collection made things worse for Celebrations. No doubt

That’s a good point comparing a reprint of 151 to how this set performed.

What do you think about the celebrations japanese set

I would hope it has gone up by then! 🤣 Who knows what the future holds for Pokemon in that time frame
I can actually see Pokemon Go moving before Celebrations. Pogo is not that bad actually
Pretty wild how the regular holo's are worth big money! A few months ago the Lunala psa 10 was selling for 500 CAD!
Overprinted and a small set is a combination that spells disaster.

Can’t emphasize enough how much I hate that stamp. It makes the card look like it came from a trick or treat pack
Just wait til Team Rocket comes out
You’ve got to stop pretending 151 is anything like Celebrations.
In a weird way I actually think this set was hurt by the 2019-2021 card shake up. It just got lost

I think celebrations is a bad set ngl, doesn’t mean I didn’t spend 500 dollars until I got my og Charizard reprint though 😂
love your videos Poke Jace
I think the Japanese versions better, lovely borders and better quality 👌
Can it hurry up
Dont like celebretion only reprint . Better to get the original cards .
