This is what American fascism looks like.
Did you know using tear gas is actually banned in the geniva convention but because this is not "war" or a "military issue" they can use it on civilians does that makes sense???
Why don't they use tear gas instead of guns in war ???
Everything is backwards
Have you ever noticed how 2 countries that share the same language rarely, if ever go to war with eachother its always conflict between 2 countries with different language 9 times out of 10
Because they dont want the soldiersto be able to communicate
and also it would probably make easier for you to beat me to death if you couldnt understand my cries for mercy ?
How is it fascism? Sounds more like communism. One of the first things communists always do after seizing power is seize private property. BTW, I don't believe the cops are communists. Sounds like it's just good old fashion corruption.
@@manicmadpanickedman2249 Not sure how your comment pertains to the previous one, anyhow, what about civil wars? Most wars are civil wars.
This is scary. They already have qualified immunity and now they can just take whatever? Yikes. PolicestateUSA
Good we agree on this one. Hopefully the ppl can rise up against this, from all political backgrounds
Different states have different laws. You need to contact your representatives and suggest changes. This isn't just a blanket "cops can just take your stuff" situation. It's more along the lines of cops can seize your vehicle if you're using it to transport kilos of coke. Yes, there are always one or two "shocking" hardship stories. But these laws were put into place to discourage people from breaking the law.
@@larrylezon1590To the govt the Constitution isn't a set of principals to be upheld but rather a set of obstacles to be overcome.
@@larrylezon1590 sorry but you have shown you have no idea what you are talking about. You need to look up some cases on this subject. Police and special drug task forces have stolen billions in cash and property this way. They often don't even charge people with crimes. If their state tries to outlaw the practice, or a judge orders them to return the property they hand it off to a federal program called "equitable sharing" then claim they can't give it back. The feds then give money back to the local cops as a kickback. When they don't even charge anyone with a crime, it has nothing to do with stopping drug dealers. It's all about stealing.

You don't even need to be charged. They can take your stuff on a make-believe suspicion.
They can try.
New police PR slogan:
"Want to be a professional thief?
Join the police force."
Police: the group of people with a legalized monopoly on violence... Think about that for a minute...😮
The Supreme Court has historically been terrible on issues relating to law enforcement. This is more of the same. Shameful.
The supreme court has historically been terrible at issues related to all types of freedom (ie constraining the govt), at least for the last ~100 years
And both Trump and Joe wants to give cops MORE power.
@@ThisIsMyHandle333 civilian criminals get much more support, good question though..
That is one more reason I am voting for RFK Jr. '
Kennedy is the only candidate on the side of We The People.
As do I
That's exactly right neither one ever defunded any police it was all a show!
This government doesn't work for the people. Each seat in all 3 branches of government need replacing.
1789 France is what it will have to come to.
I agree
"This government doesn't work for the poeple" I hate that I agree, the last time it probably did was when JFK was in office, now a days the government mainly operates to serve itself
Ask the Marine who had his life savings in cash from the military confiscated. It took the institute for justice to pressure getting it released.
Omg! That is terrible, and I never even heard about it. I'm glad that it got released eventually
@@naijaplayer They only released it once IJ got involved, they were afraid of the precedent this case will set if it gets ruled on. I think IJ is still pursuing this case and it will hopefully be the one that the SCOTUS uses to strike down Civil Asset Forfeiture
He had bad leadership. Cash burns and also brings up huge legal questions
This is crazy! I was very much hoping the court would slap this corrupt practice down.
This was a bad case to do it on, but they did signal that if they get a good case they probably will. Institute for Justice is working on this & will get a good case to them in the next couple years I would bet.
The party of small government... 🤣
I think this is a severe infringement of rights. This is sobering I’d expect from life in Mexico.

She spouts her usual distortions and hyperbolic lefty fantasies here as usual, instead of taking a rational position on the issue. Then lefties like her are confused when people reject their extremist positions.
"Biden introduced the new bill in 1983, and its provisions became law the next year. Under this law federal agents had nearly unlimited powers to seize assets from private citizens. Now the government only needed to find a way to let local and state police join the party."

Stasi State.
It's like having a pirate ship pulling you over.
Most of the time, no charge was ever filed.
“To serve and protect” has become “To rob and harass”.
The empire strikes back.
How is this legal? They need to give press conferences after rulings like they do in sports

They’re getting ready for martial law in November
Bri on average speeks 5 times more than Rob, just an observation.
Absolutely unConstitutional
Where is the right's "Law and Order" on this policy?
THERE ARE NO RIGHTS!!! If you post threats online there goes your computer, though you can waver to get it back, eventually, which can take time!
Saying crime is going down, implying less need for cops, is like telling someone whose house is 8 feet under water that things are improving because it stopped raining.

And they arrest your computer too and make you PAY FINES!

BLM ruined the Defund the Police movement.
Thank god for the IDF trained US police forces for putting defund back on the menu. 🤡's
We are in the last days
Letting the government get involved in policing safety has caused us to lose many of our constitutional rights. End qualified immunity. End the war on drugs. End policing traffic codes.
You don't need to be "affluent" to fix a broken tail light. You can fix a broken taillight for $5.
Supreme Court Justices straight-up is doing evil decisions recently. Robbie surprised me that he has the right point of view.
Maybe the students & protesters can help with jail & prison reform

People cannot see the forest for the trees. Conservatives were all for the appointment of right-wing judges on the court because of Roe v Wade, without considering these authoritarian ideologues would be awful on other issues related to civil liberties.

Wow I agree with Bri for a change. Invest in the youth, prevents crime in the future.
I read the Opinion. It does NOT say that the police can keep your stuff for months or years. It only says that a preliminary hearing is not required to test the legal sufficiency of the forfeiture., that the test is applied at the forfeiture hearing. The speed at which a forfeiture hearing is docketed depends on how quickly the owner files a challenge and raises defenses, whereas a preliminary hearing takes place within days. By the way, in the recent opinion, the cars taken were later returned. The long delay in returning the cars was due to the owners taking months to file an objection and demand the return of the cars.
Yes, put the onus on the limited resource CITIZEN as opposed to the all powerful state. Sounds like fascism to me.
@@N0b0d17 A challenge to the forfeiture is an easy enough task. The State files a seizure notice and the answer is simple enough. Any innocent owner will get the property back, as the complainants did in the cases SCOTUS was reviewing.
Can you please post where you read that opinion?

Violent crime is NOT DROPPING.
Just what they need more power. What happened to defunding the police. Lets do it for real this time. They never defunded anything before it was all a lie. They've got more money and power than ever!

The police state is ever expanding
Anything to generate impound fees.
It's time for a change
Laws favor Law enforcement. The police allow you to exercise your 'rights' only when they agree with your cause.
Play grounds, skate parks, arcades, workshops to learn new skills, sports, etc, and other things of various intrest to do would reduce crime from bored teens.
It’s almost 11am pst. Where are the rest of the segments??
Quit making a pretense to steal my phone cops...
This subject can't be covered in a simple comment. Our laws concerning civil asset forfeiture is so sick, it is pure organized legal confiscation that in oppressive dictatorship countries would be considered too intrusive.
Violent crime is NOT down, merely convictions and the reporting is.
People are agents of their own lives, they get together and make children in free will. I really like the idea of children enjoying music after school in music classes but I am at a complete loss in understanding how the cost of such leisure time spending could ever be a freaking government function.
welcome to the police state, you're free to do exactly what we tell you - step out of line and we will take everything from you. how have we let America fall so far?
This is the reason for the 2nd amendment.
Bri let ole 1938 German Rob explain.
Crime is not dropping - the stats are incorrect. The DOJ changed the reporting system around 2021. It is more difficult for LE agencies to use, which has lead to decreased reporting. The system now also allows agencies to estimate the numbers of crimes. Yes, estimate. Also, with the defending of LE agencies, fewer crimes are being reported due to unavailable officers, hours-long response wait times, and requiring people to go to the police station to report non-life threatening crimes.
This is true. It's not a bug it's a "feature", so they can continue to say things are improving when they are not.

Wasn't their some dissenting opinion basically opening it up to further scrutiny if a better case was presented?
NWA in 1988 said it best...
I'm usually pretty pro-police, but this is a load of BS!
Appreciate hearing that! Definitely an issue that needs to be taken on by people from all sides of the police / criminal justice debate
In the end, it's not a police problem, it's a legislature one. Police don't right the laws, politicians do. 9 times out of 10, the problem is bad law, written to deliver pork and gain votes. If the voting public was principled, instead of for sale, this would not be an issue.
Pro police...Let me🤔 guess. You're yt! Like yt people collectively you only care when something affects you. This is why for you folks "the chickens are coming home to roost." It's just the beginning.

3:25 Please correct your info; crime is NOT coming down. It has been on a sharp rise.
The methods of reporting crime have obfuscated things, but if you research correctly you will see that crime is at an all-time high.
There is a way to protest legally. And don’t do it legal stuff and you won’t get your things taken.
Legality without a well developed framework of ethics behind it is not a beneficial social tool. Don't start by asking if it's legal, but if it is ethical unless you want atrocities to develop.
