      You need to be a plant to make use of chlorophyll. Your body is not made for photosynthesis.

      @@redstonedragongaming8795 Well technically photosynthesis isn't limited to plants. There's a species of slug (I think they're native to California?) that is capable of photosynthesis. Sooo. Yeah.

    Your container of Rhodamine shows the same effect as mine: no matter what you try, you get red stains everywhere! ;)
    And yeah, the amount you used was a little bit much ;) . I used not much more than that to color water outside during a few days of heavy rain here in Austria, when it was so wet that we had water ingress in the basement (came in at a rate of a bucket every 5 minutes). I had two suspect places outside where the water could come from, so I used Fluoresceine and Rhodamine. Three hours later the water coming in was sligtly red. The teaspoon full of dye must have been diluted in a few thousand liters of water and still the water was slightly red. In our case that meant we needed a new drywell, because that was the culprit (clogged up after decades and instead of seeping away deeper into the ground it was seeping towards the house, where it must have washed out small underground "waterways").

    • @brainiac75
      @brainiac75  7 лет назад +1

      Yep, rhodamine is an incredible efficient dye. Makes it very useful for tracing leaks though fluorescin is often used because of the bright color (and being less dangerous in drinking water...). But a smart solution with the two different colors when faced with two possible sources!

For the record, a 450 nm laser will overpower this so much it takes away from the beauty if it (granyed my 450 nm laser is a 1,000 me or 1 watt version so that doesnt count really).

    • @brainiac75
      @brainiac75  7 лет назад

      The sparks are due to dust, insects etc. in the air reflecting the beam. The laser beam is very bright, so when even a small particle in the air reflects it, you see a bright flash from the reflection.

    Why isn't the color filtered out when the laser passes through each layer? It seems to remain consistent if the laser passes through other layers or is passed directly from the side. I'd expect that if shown through the top red layer then only that color would pass through to the next layer.

    • @kipth3cat
      @kipth3cat 7 лет назад

      the color is filtered out, but when the laser hits each substance it absorbs the light and fluoresces as a different color. like how a uv light shines on something and the fluorescent material shines yellow/green even though thats not the color of light entering

    • @superdau
      @superdau 7 лет назад +2

      The layers only absorb a small amount of the laser radiation (the liquids are mostly transparent after all). There's still enough of the "original" light for the other layers. The fluorescent color is also emitted in all directions, not just the beam direction (obviously you wouldn't be able to see it if it were).
