This brings back some memories, my first bike was a metallic blue CD175 and it was the most reliable bike I have ever owned, I even rode it to the Isle Of Man 💙👍
Hi there, I just found your videos on the Honda CD175. I'm about to start working on mine. I have a 1972. It's nowhere the condition yours was. That's insane. I can't wait to watch all your episodes to see how you restore this bike. I don't have much knowledge or experience working on bikes but I have to learn. I will be doing videos on mine as well from a newbie point of view. haha thanks for sharing, it should help me out alot 😊👍
This from adrian "Hi Paul, it's going to be a running bike, used daily. Just need to find a front wheel and mudguard. " Now that's what I call an understatement!!!!!!
I had one of those, it had a really annoying vibration through the footrest that made my right foot numb after a few miles. It was my year round daily ride for about three years. Sunshine or snow, I didn't care.
Had a blue one in 77, given to me by my Dad on my 17th birthday, replacing a Fantic GT50 which had replaced my FS1E. Great bike, but not cool for a teenager. Got me to work 35 miles per day thru winter, passed my test and was replaced by an RD350 quicker than you can say Yamaha...
Eadsie, I'm in need of a favour! I'm restoring a 1974 CD 175 and need advice on the boomerang shaped plate that holds ( I think) the centre stand spring. I forgot to take a pic when I stripped it out, now I haven't a clue how it goes on. Any chance you showed the part being fitted in one of you video's?
Eyup just a quick question plz , I’ve been watching the episode where your painting your bike in the candy blue , did you lacquer aswell or is the shine just in with the blue thanks
Hello Adrian, Are you going to do a full blown exact restore , or are you going to make a running bike out of everything ? Work cut out either way , however thats why we do these things . Maybe the pile of stuff out the tank is old petrol turned to varnish that has then combined with the rust . I will be watching for sure . Cheers matey Paul
@adrian eades. Hey mate, Im restoring an SL175 which uses the same engine. Would you be open to chatting sometime about your experience and any tips you have?
Oh my lord! Ade you do like a challenge. How are going to sort the engine corrosion? It looks like it's been dipped in icing sugar! Good luck mate, I can't wait to see how you get on.
There is another youtuber I follow called Andy's Motorcycle obsession and he did a restoration on an xs1100 and he used a chemical sealer on his tank. If you are interested it's called basket case.I suppose you need to check if it leaks first.
Spring looks like part of the petrol cap (spring loaded seal) but maybe that's half guess and half dodgy memory. God alone knows what the black crap out of the tank is....or was.

Superb sir
Very interesting project. I am impressed with how well the tires look. The sidewalls show no checking or deterioration after 46 years.
Quality rubber was used back then.
Holy crap! If you can do anything with that thing, I will be seriously impressed!
Great stuff. Looking forward to the progress updates.
A good project

I think the spring and washer in the tank are from the filler cap. Good luck
Spot on, the spring fits perfectly into the burst fuel cap :-). Thanks
Hi Ade, I've always felt you were a bit 'special', but now I realise you are stark staring bonkers!!! The very best of luck with that.
Ha ha ha cheers bud.

God only knows, need to do lots of homework on alloys and chemicals etc...

How the hell has that back mud guard survived 40 years outside? Usually the 1st part to go right where the light is mounted
No idea
That’s coal in the petrol tank... I know it’s old, but not THAT old, surely? 😂😂😂
lol
i know how u feel ui have a 175 and loks the same as yours how about u get parts from
Spring looks like part of the petrol cap (spring loaded seal) but maybe that's half guess and half dodgy memory. God alone knows what the black crap out of the tank is....or was.
Yes it's the fuel cap spring, and the black stuff I think is fuel varnish.
Maybe stuff from tank is coal, steam powered machine? 😋
Lol.... very possibly
Suggest you contact HepCatHarley he's sorted a really shabby tank in the past and could probably take you through its restoration.
Wow Les thanks, will try and find them later, knee deep in rust at the moment :-)
