- For a first car, Lucid has done an exquisite job with the Air. But like all automakers, the company has found that software is tougher than they may have anticipated. While the driving dynamics are top-notch and the design has been praised, there have been reports of laggy elements plaguing the infotainment system.
With Lucid UX 2.0, the automaker is hoping to squelch those issues with nearly a complete rewrite of the vehicle’s software. Lucid invited us down to its headquarters to check out the latest software update that will be deployed to all Lucid Airs over the next few weeks.

Nice improvement! This company does not mess around. They are serious about becoming #1.
in terms of hardware technology, they’re damn close to the likes of Porsche, BMW and Mercedes. with software, they’re slowly closing the gap to Tesla and will likely exceed them in a year or two.
I like how well-integrated the screens are with the dashboard, as opposed to Tesla's "just krazy glue an iPad to the dash" solution.
Great company. I've spotted 2 over the last week. Nice looking car!
Fantastic! Gonna make a lot of people happy. Myself included as I’ve seen my stock portfolio drop like the rest of EV industry. I heard up to 60%.
looks like the excitement of updating your phone software will be transferred to the automobile in the near future.
Indeed. But the bad news is, the evil Claws Schwab of WEF "You will own nothing and be happy" plan for humans means you will pay a subscription fee to keep 'your' ride viable. Bad month? Can't make payment? Lose some features.
Over my dead body. Ownership is king.
DELICIOUS! LUCID for life yo!
Love the look of this car
The stocks are going to the moon! 🚀
Lucid is one heck of a electric car
This is actually a pretty cool car
Imma need this car
Amazing
Still think those music controls should be further left and art would move to the far right
I’m a Tesla owner but a Lucid investor.
Lucid Is Far Built Far Better Than Tesla.
Why does Apple not buy this company. It would make sense. Lucid has a high Apple class.
I really like this car but the price is astronomical
Work harder to make more $
my future car
Me too. I want to be able to drive from here to Scotland on one charge so I don't stress about blocked or broken chargers.
Awsome!
Nice car but very expensive too $87,000 up high. Can't offer.
Love it.
this man sounds so out of breath throughout the whole thing. you ok?
Average age of Lucid owner : 74
Average age of Tesla fanboy: 13
For as much as one is expected to cost, seems right. No one wants to sell affordable cars, only luxury.
I really want to see Lucid succeed.
Glad to hear, will receive my Air GT soon, hopefully, UX2.0 will already be functional.
Beautiful and powerful luxury car. Lucid will have to offer less expensive cars soon!
I was worried they would not be able to improve the boot time without changing the hardware. That is good to hear they added the instant on feature. Now they need to add Android Auto & CarPlay, and hopefully this company can succeed and be #1. It will be nice to have a company not making outlandish claims from a lunatic who is only interested in market manipulation being the dominant EV manufacturer.
LET'S GOOOOO LUCID FAMILY 🙋♂️❤🙏✌🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉🕺🕺
What a disaster this month has been! First Lucid started really ramping up production, then they made the software fast.
Now the poor Tesla fanbois will have to think up a new reason to hate Lucid. I'm sure Warren will write new talking points for them soon 😆
No need to. The car is just ok. Nothing on Tesla... Not even close
@@joshe5941 Tell me you haven't driven one without saying you haven't driven one.
@@Miata822 I actually have... Assumption is a dangerous thing.
Does this include the move out of virtualization into native?
Why would anyone would want to buy a model S?
@Daddy Elon I agree that some of this is a matter of preference. However, while our Model S Plaid has a more sporting demeanor than our Lucid Air Dream, the Air actually handles more precisely than the Tesla. In fact, if you check out Kyle Conner's recent canyon runs from "Out of Spec Motoring", he found the chassis setup in the Lucid Air to be "miles ahead" of the Model S for things such as mountain canyon carving. And it's worth noting that Conner's personal car is a Model S Plaid, while the Air he was driving was not even the performance model.
For transporting two adults, either car does the trick just fine. However, the Lucid is a much better conveyance when the back seat is needed. With the driver's seats in both our cars set to my preferred driving position, there is 9.5" more fore-aft legroom in the backseat of the Lucid than in the Plaid. In the context of car interiors, this is an astonishing difference -- especially between two cars of almost identical exterior dimensions.
@Daddy Elon agreed with all of your points, except the "sporty experience". I've driven both the Air GT and Dream P (with latest sw) alongside the Plaid and it's clear which company emphasizes driving dynamics and vehicle packaging. The Lucid is superior on this front and somehow without air suspension (that the Tesla comes with), the Lucid is more comfortable and more dynamic around corners. I personally prefer the design of the Lucid but hands down tech/software goes to Tesla - it's not even slightly close.
@@MsShots123 I now have all four of the downloads bringing the new UX 2.0 software to our Lucid Air. It really has closed the software gap between the Lucid and the Plaid (for which we didn't buy FSD). The Plaid and the Lucid software designs are different, but it is now a difference in design preferences and no longer a difference in responsiveness and reliability.
Lucid sometimes takes a rap for not using an air suspension, but many people misunderstand air suspensions. While they give some adjustment variability and make it easier to cushion a ride, they also introduce hysteresis lag which slows their response and introduces imprecision. This is the reason that race cars and high-performance exotics (such as my earlier Audi R8s) use coil spring suspensions with variable dampers instead of air suspensions. As Lucid has proven, a well-engineered coil spring suspension can be made both more compliant and more precise than an air suspension. The only feature air offers that coil springs don't is ride height adjustment. (Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson was the head of engineering at Jaguar and the head of advanced engineering at Lotus, two auto houses known for their suspension prowess. The man knows something about chassis and suspension design.)
I am so happy this has happened, because I almost canceled my upcoming order due to tons of videos and vlogs stating 1.0 was GARBAGE
I like the Lucid design however, the chrome on the front end always remind me of a 2018 to newer Honda Accord.
Sitting on 100 shares,
CarPlay?
Car play is a kids toy
well they should've added a decent chipset and high refresh rate to run the infotainment system smoothly considering the price
Refresh rate LOL. Bruh you don't play games when driving your car 60HZ is more than adequate. From the video the info system the infotainment system looks smooth and snappy. But what does it really matter you don't own the car and neither do I.
@@seanh1988 nah 90hz in a premium car is the minimum I'd expect. Plus oled screens. No one wants grey looking blacks at night. Also higher refresh increases touch response. Makes everything feel snappy.
This here had no transition animations which makes it feel low quality.
@@kona328WH Yeah nah, completely overkill for an infotainment system.
@@seanh1988 this is a 200k car not a Ford fiesta. Keep your low standards.
@@kona328WH Agreed, even Hyundai and Kia despite their price points have smoother animations and transitions which helps. These are basic UX best practices that have been established since the touchscreen became more ubiquitous.

Great news! Tesla has been providing additional features (some bad, mostly good) OTA for ages and that's how it should be, as opposed to the ancient model of get a car with an infotainment bug (or slowness or whatever), hope they eventually fix it and take it to the dealership to have them manually upgrade it for you.
Hopefully all car manufacturers take note!
Agreed. I went to buy a Kia EV6 and the sales guy tried to make me take out a service plan that includes having the software periodically updated "at the dealership". Kia? EV6 is a superb vehicle, but get with the program. When I pay £60k for my ride, don't nikle and dime me.
Nice that its fast but nobody needs so many displays. Seems overloadet
Tesla copy cat.
