I believe I can try to elaborate when you say "all of the houses are clustered in one place." It is because our past high chiefs forbade any houses to be build in the back or we call it "Ilùk" kind of like the backyard or the island. So we can grow our breadfruits coconuts and pretty much our food and means of resources to survive, kind of storage area. Only "fàlàngs" outback areas are permitted so we can store woods and cook food and kind of like a rest area. But that's just my understanding of the way Nema is maintain. 😉...oh god I have not been home for nearly 27 yrs..😭 sutekina eiga o arigatō😌
I thought the houses were clustered on the west side of the island because the waves hit the east side of the island. I see that wasn't the case, but rather a structure that was thoughtfully designed to make more functional use of the island. That's sooooo wonderful!
This is very true. The Eastern, or Illuk side of the island was forbidden and also associated with stories of supernatural spirits to discourage younger generations from venturing into those areas for too long, especially after dark. The reason for this was also to build a very close knit community among resident clans, as evidented in the island's famous sayings: "one voice, one ear, one movement , in one Chanel" and "wokun leporou" (the stick that's stuck in a closed box. Meaning, any act of aggression that would arise is quickly quelled as the stick/spear, symbol of war, is enclosed in a tight box; and the borders that prevent it's movement are the same relationships that unite these Islanders.

Thank you for this video I always want to visit those outer islands,in 1989 or 1990 I almost come here to nama but my uncle who was the chief that time on my island didn't want me to go hehe but hey thank you because I see my neighbor and brother that guy at the end part who pushed you boat to go long hair with sunglass.
@@ChuukDiveTREASURES Yes he said if something happen to the boat in the ocean I'll be save on land,so that's the reason so only him and my mother and some of my uncles our church members went to nema idk if they also went to losap
@@warrenchia1305 I see. Your uncle was worried about the danger that would befall you. I hear that sometimes there are accidents where boats break down. He was right to be concerned.
I went to Pohnpei before the pandemic. The Nan Madol, waterfalls, diving... I had many wonderful experiences, but I regret that I didn't capture them on video. Wish I could go back!
Sorry, I'm not sure it😞 I'll wait for someone who knows the answer to that question to respond here. If I ever know it in the future, I'll answer it here.

I'm from Nama currently staying @ 671 Guam
My parent live there
Where is the king of Road I don't see him
That time he was off duty I think 🤣🤣

-🥰🙏❤️
Thank you for waiting🥰
