This whole freaking show is criminally underrated, but that in particular makes me so mad! His performance is too amazing for words, and it makes me sad that so many people, even in the theater community, have and will never experience it because the show never got the hype it deserved.
@@adriankirby1311 Christopher Isherwood in his review called it "the breakout performance of the year." Unfortunately, that review was published in Broadway News and not New York Times, which Isherwood had only recently left.
listen, I'm a theater kid, through and through. I've watched this version of Bandstand probably over a dozen times. it's the only musical that continues to elicit the same emotional response in me each time I watch. this is my favorite musical and it's gonna take a lot to top this one. I love it. bandstand was robbed and I will stand by that forever.
Bandstand was the last of 12 musicals that debuted that year and was clearly inferior to the corny Hello Dolly which featured Bette Midler broadly playing herself and the undecipherable and sleep inducing The Band Played. Yeah, Katrina Lenk was good, but Bandstand was a real musical with singing and dancing while The Band was not even a real musical.
i think about this performance of donny novtski more often than i’d like to admit… his tone of voice is so gorgeous, his acting is phenomenal, his technique blows me away every time. his stage presence, the way he fills the entire theatre like omg. he is the most incredible and underrated performer ever.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I still haven't gotten over "the craziness of, the reality of, the necessity of being madly in love with you." I dream about the note he sings on "love."
How have I never heard of this till now. Came to watch "Right This Way" and, geebus how did he not spit his guts out, or blow a blood vessel is beyond me. THAT was a PERFORMANCE!
I love this show. Saw it on Broadway 3 times and the movie theater showing as well. Thx for posting. As a prior military member they told such a beautiful story of the soldiers and families in 1940s. Wish they would let us buy it in DVD as would watch it throughout the year.

thank you for posting this.... for entertainment purposes only. i'm like watching it on repeat... saw it multiple times on Broadway....then in the movie theaters.... and the BANDSTAND CD, is literally still in the CD/DVD player on this laptop.
God!! Corey is an amazing actor!! Even at the beginning of "right this way" scene his arms are shaking!! That kind of detail in his acting makes me love him even more!!
Thank you for posting this. It's a wonderful and heartbreaking musical, might turn out to be one of my favourites! Corey Cott and Laura Osnes are fabulous.
@ I did it do it!!! Been doing my own cabaret act with an all female band backing me up. Feels awesome. One of the most prior gigs I did was at Green Room 42 and I opened with NOBODY
@@BrenBigsnormal person answer: broadway people don’t like her because she’s an antivaxxer and since that happened she’s been even more of a trumpy weirdo. she used to keep it under wraps, but i would have sworn that even a few years before covid she claimed that being a conservative christian in the theatre industry made her oppressed or something, but when i went to find a source/the exact phrasing it could not be found. it’s 3am however so maybe that’s a me problem her most recent acting jobs have been for "great american media", which is run by candace cameron bure, who left hallmark because she (ccb not osnes) was disgusted that they had gay characters sometimes, and voice acting in the bluey ripoff from ben shapiro’s media company. so. lol, lmao.
The fact that Corey didn't even get a nomination still floors me

Masterful musical drama. Through-choreographed and mostly through-sung. Great writing. Great acting.

Laura Osnes is a gem and did not deserve to be treated so shamefully by the Broadway community.
What did they do to her??
