    The connecting rod oil holes in the crankshaft should be approximately 30 degrees BTD center of the crank.

    OIL a ring set and piston skirts, not lithium based assembly lube.

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  2 года назад

      I used assembly lube because this engine is a long term project. If you use plain oil it will run off and it will be a dry start...I will put oil into the cylinder and rotate it just prior to its first start. This is how I do all my engine builds and never had an issue.

    Has that motor been sleeved? Picked up a command 18 horizontal shaft. And it was setup. Lots of water damage. Piston siezed jn the cylinder. I got it freed up and hoping a quick hone will do the job

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  Год назад +1

      Yes this block was sleeved. If your block is nicaseal coated then just honing probably if not work if the damage is too bad.

    • @brandondunham8040
      @brandondunham8040 Год назад

      @@PullerbearEd I’m hoping a sleeve job is not in my future. But just might be the case. Original plan is to repower an allis b110. Transformation into a full puller next.

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  Год назад +1

      Having a block sleved is that bad. These blocks are worth saving.

      @brandondunham8040 Год назад +1

      @@PullerbearEd come to find out the motors already has been sleeved. However the putting will not hone out.. newbie question here. Can a sleeve be bored. Or should sleeves be replaced. Not looking to make a high horsepower puller. Just repowering an old allis b-110 that I would like to hobby pull. But will have use of the implements.

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  Год назад

      Yes they can be reboared. You can probably go 30 over without a problem.

  • @lisaann6267

    awesome build, and on an artistic level, i kept envisioning taking a picure of crank shaft and put in a fame on the wall. are needlenose pliers not small enough to help get rings in, or a hemostatic clamp?

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  3 года назад +1

      I've never tried small pliers. I do know that you don't want to distort the ring in any way so that it will stay in the wrist pin.

    • @PullerbearEd

    Are you using a stock machined case? Do you use a full bearing in the flywheel side of the case? What small engine v-twin if any is this build based on? I am very interested in this custom building of v-twins and would like to know where you source your parts and other pertinent info. I will try to catch up...😉

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  2 года назад

      Yes it is based on a stock case and yes it has a bearing on both ends of the crank. This is a Kohler command block. The parts are from various suppliers, I will try to list all of them in the next video I post on the build.

    I have the kohler 27hp on my stump grinder. What modification is this and if it's for Torq, would this be practical for a stump grinder ? I'm not looking for HP, I'm looking for torque.

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  2 года назад

      You could try a little bigger cam that would give you more torque.

    Also, have you done any work with opposed twins? I’m thinking about building a manifold and mounting a mikuni on mine.

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  3 года назад

      Yes its will be on alcohol. Yes I've worked with opposing Briggs they are great engineers and a mikuni would be a nice carb on one.

    I don't think you need thick lube on piston and rings usually just a film of oil but not %100 sure

    • @PullerbearEd
      @PullerbearEd  4 года назад +1

      This engine may sit for a few weeks before it get ran and broken in. So the thick lube will stay in place. If I were assembling an engine thats was going straight into use I'd use a heave weight oil

    Was really interested to see this. Lost that interest when I saw you were going to waste our time filming every single turn of your wrench. Editing is useful. I get that you are tightening down the bolts. I am not interested in seeing you tighten each bolt one by one till you finish torquing, Move the topic along. I see why you needed 16 videos. Time waster. Unwatchable and really wanted to.
