This dance battle is taking cues from hip hop’s beginnings. Dance battles started in the 70s but added bits of simulated fighting after the movie Enter the Dragon released. It’s a way of adding a legacy from Bruce lee who died during the filming of Enter the Dragon. That little street brawl simulation is a nod to gritty police movies. But every twisting kick is a nod to Bruce as he helped innovate the windmill kick and several other moves.
What is wrong with you? Why can't different cultures pay homage and respect to each other? What exactly makes this not "REAL" hip hop, because it's mostly white guys?
hip hop is definitely a part of the black American culture. I don’t know in what other areas it was performed but it’s been huge in the black communities for a very long time.
Have you ever showed them videos of the men's Kpop groups? Such as BTS, StrayKids, Got7. OR the female Kpop Groups, Balckpink, Twice, Babymonsters, Red Velvet.
I hate to say it, but I think the korean were slicker. Although being a great break dancer is probably a good thing mostly in life. Still fun to have weird niches out there.
If you want a kinda real fight watch the wrestling match between Kenny omega and Will osprey. It is a masterpiece of moves that just flow right into each other. They never gave up always trying to outdo each other. It was a great show of intelligence, cunning, and the sheer will to win. Kenny was not at his prime at 40 while the younger will osprey was full of energy and is really talented beyond compare. Will osprey is often compared to the dynamite kid who came before as he used a similar approach to wrestling, but osprey just does it better and safer. Kenny omega is known as an all around type guy doing what he does as he can do it but is always improving by adding moves or adapting former opponents moves into his own style. The man is an encyclopedia of wrestling moves but he knows how to get the job done. Kenny is slowing down unfortunately due to age as his body is slowly realizing that wrestling isn’t working. The guy can still go just his body is slowing down. It’s why Kenny is slowly transitioning into a talent scout backstage at AEW so he can rest and find the next generation of wrestlers.
