Hearing EXO for the first time, I just immediately fell in love with these guys 😍. Their music and style grabbed my attention faster than BTS, not saying I'm not a fan of BTS (those my GUYS right there 💜), but its something about EXO caught my ears and eyes. Not gonna even compare them and BTS because I love BOTH these groups because of their uniqueness, style, dance, music, lyrics, and personalities. These groups remain me when I was a huge fan of NSYNC and Backsteet Boys. It was so hard to choose which were better because THEY WERE BOTH GREAT back in the days. So with that being said EXO and BTS are different and good but EXO has that type of songs that I loved listening to back in the days. That's why they caught my attention so quick.
EXO ARE THE KING OF VOCALS, VISUALS, CHOREOGRAPHY, TALENTS, AND EVERYTHING. ALL OF THEM CAN RAP, CAN SING, CAN DANCE. EVEN THOUGH RAPPERS CAN SING VERY WELL. AND CHANYEOL CAN PLAY INSTRUMENTS

You can't compare between exo and bts. EXO & BTS are cool in their way. I love exo sooo much but i do respect bts because yaa you know they should deserve that.
EXO is more of a Vocal Group, they focus more on their Vocals than Rapping (which is opposite in BTS who is known for their lit rapping) EXO have one of the Best Vocalist in Kpop Industry and is always being praised and recognized. EXO's Main Vocalist Chen, Baekhyun & D.O is known as the Golden Main Vocalist with superior Vocal range and techniques (You're jaw will drop once you heard this three sings and when they hit those notes that is as high as the sky :D) EXO's agency (SM Entertainment) is known as the home of great & best vocalists that's why it's not surprising that EXO's Vocals are on top. I think you are more of a guy who likes rappings more but I'm thankful that you liked them too. If you are looking for groups with great rap lines then go to YG Entertainment's groups because they are known as the Home of great Rappers and known for their HipHop genres.
Xiumin also has amazing vocals but all of them do,and BTS has amazing rappers but Chanyeol, Sehun and Kai are amazing also amazing rappers Just my opinion 😊
A good way to distinguish them from BTS which is why I never got the fandom wars. I tell people all the time these groups are nothing alike in my opinion. They are both on different levels and excel at different crafts within the music industry. EXO was my first stan and I'll forever be grateful I found DO in a drama because he introduced me to the world of KPOP and there's NEVER any going back now that I know.

It annoys me that they didn't get the American attention but I am happy for BTS because they were ignored in SK for a long time. I do think there are tons of groups that are better but I will let them have it for now. But SuperM will help that when the world reopens. I saw SuperM live in the U.S. RIGHT before COVID and I would do it all over again. I hate crowds and people and they got me out the house. EXO was my gateway drug. EXO introduced me to SuperM which got me obsessed with WayV, NCT, and SHINee and I have not turned back. EXO-L all day!!!!
Yess! I love both BTS and EXO, seriously both are amazing. BTS is more like Hip Hop and EXO shows a bit more vocals. It's hard to say who exactly is more popular since they also have a different fanbase. I personally think EXO is more popular in Korea and China and BTS more like international. EXO is the full package: musical display of talent, excellent vocals, *all* members are great dancers (some are mos-def stronger dancers than the rest in the group but ALL of them are good), awesome/entertaining music videos & production (directing, visuals, concept, etc.), lots of melodic harmony and solo vocals, and good musical compositions over all. They're the most consistent across the board at checking off all the boxes unlike some of the other k-pop groups (including BTS) which is probably why they kept ranking higher. BTS is good but EXO is very consistent in what they've delivered so far. They raised the bar for k-pop IMHO and are the closest to the stuff us Americans grew up listening to. They bring to mind what a modern version of Jackson 5 might be...that's high praise.
I'm into rock, so really only knew Japanese metal/rock music and Japanese R&B type music (like Bonnie Pink) and knew of Aoki (a Japanese American). The first k-pop group I learned of was 2PM because of the anime Blue Exorsist. The song was catchy and corny but likeable. Then I heard Got 7 and was like "Wow, these guys are cool as heck and quite talented". Luved 'em and introduced my children to them. Started listening and paying attention to more k-pop (a lot of it is gimmicky and bites out of American Hip-Hop so much it looks forced and sounds fake; BUT huge props for American singer/song writer Jay Park whose formally of 2PM though because he's definitely go it-factor and swag). But then I heard an EXO song and was through. I got my children luvin' *Blooming Day* by EXO-CBX to their annoyance (because one of them is a huge BTS and Wanna One fan). EXO has *it*. In k-pop, what they put out is goals to achieve for sure. In music period they are just really good at what they do, period...*peri-ot*. Their talent deserved me taking time to write this stupidly long post. Edited: I saw another post-er mention they thought Kai was a "douche" at first. My $0.02 is: FTR that isn't douchery, dearhearts; that's a display of what you call being confident in your swag.

I'm and Exo-L and ARMY!!! I absolutely LOVE both of them, I found Exo first back in 2012 and BTS around 2015! (ish I don't have the energy to go check) They've both never failed to blow me away! My first Exo song was Mama (that was their debut of I'm not wrong?); and my first BTS song was We Are Bulletproof.

Camila's recommendations are on point! I'd add in KoKo Bop, Lotto, and Sweet Lies to get a better feel of what people are voting on for the MAMA's right now though. Also, as a BTS fan, you should check out NCT-U they should be right up your alley.

Actually, every Kpop group has vocals, rappers, and dancers. Sometimes there is an exception in which a ballad group only has vocals of course, but other than that every group has all three things. I do think you should add EXO into the list. They work as hard any other kpop group out there. I think you should enjoy Kpop as a whole and not only as just some groups or artists here and there.

Also the reason why it sounds like the music we grew up on is because it's produced by some of those same people. Which is why I fell in love with some of this company's artists. A lot of the R&B groups that we grew up with had the same producers as them

Hearing EXO for the first time, I just immediately fell in love with these guys 😍. Their music and style grabbed my attention faster than BTS, not saying I'm not a fan of BTS (those my GUYS right there 💜), but its something about EXO caught my ears and eyes. Not gonna even compare them and BTS because I love BOTH these groups because of their uniqueness, style, dance, music, lyrics, and personalities. These groups remain me when I was a huge fan of NSYNC and Backsteet Boys. It was so hard to choose which were better because THEY WERE BOTH GREAT back in the days. So with that being said EXO and BTS are different and good but EXO has that type of songs that I loved listening to back in the days. That's why they caught my attention so quick.

EXO is more of a Vocal Group, they focus more on their Vocals than Rapping (which is opposite in BTS who is known for their lit rapping) EXO have one of the Best Vocalist in Kpop Industry and is always being praised and recognized. EXO's Main Vocalist Chen, Baekhyun & D.O is known as the Golden Main Vocalist with superior Vocal range and techniques (You're jaw will drop once you heard this three sings and when they hit those notes that is as high as the sky :D)
EXO's agency (SM Entertainment) is known as the home of great & best vocalists that's why it's not surprising that EXO's Vocals are on top. I think you are more of a guy who likes rappings more but I'm thankful that you liked them too. If you are looking for groups with great rap lines then go to YG Entertainment's groups because they are known as the Home of great Rappers and known for their HipHop genres.

A good way to distinguish them from BTS which is why I never got the fandom wars. I tell people all the time these groups are nothing alike in my opinion. They are both on different levels and excel at different crafts within the music industry. EXO was my first stan and I'll forever be grateful I found DO in a drama because he introduced me to the world of KPOP and there's NEVER any going back now that I know.

I do think there are tons of groups that are better but I will let them have it for now. But SuperM will help that when the world reopens. I saw SuperM live in the U.S. RIGHT before COVID and I would do it all over again. I hate crowds and people and they got me out the house. EXO was my gateway drug. EXO is the full package: musical display of talent, excellent vocals, *all* members are great dancers (some are mos-def stronger dancers than the rest in the group but ALL of them are good), awesome/entertaining music videos & production (directing, visuals, concept, etc.), lots of melodic harmony and solo vocals, and good musical compositions over all. They're the most consistent across the board at checking off all the boxes unlike some of the other k-pop groups (including BTS) which is probably why they kept ranking higher. BTS is good but EXO is very consistent in what they've delivered so far. They raised the bar for k-pop IMHO and are the closest to the stuff us Americans grew up listening to. They bring to mind what a modern version of Jackson 5 might be...that's high praise.
I'm into rock, so really only knew Japanese metal/rock music and Japanese R&B type music (like Bonnie Pink) and knew of Aoki (a Japanese American). The first k-pop group I learned of was 2PM because of the anime Blue Exorsist. The song was catchy and corny but likeable. Then I heard Got 7 and was like "Wow, these guys are cool as heck and quite talented". Luved 'em and introduced my children to them. Started listening and paying attention to more k-pop (a lot of it is gimmicky and bites out of American Hip-Hop so much it looks forced and sounds fake; BUT huge props for American singer/song writer Jay Park whose formally of 2PM though because he's definitely go it-factor and swag). But then I heard an EXO song and was through. I got my children luvin' *Blooming Day* by EXO-CBX to their annoyance (because one of them is a huge BTS and Wanna One fan).
EXO has *it*. In k-pop, what they put out is goals to achieve for sure. In music period they are just really good at what they do, period...*peri-ot*. Their talent deserved me taking time to write this stupidly long post.
Edited: I saw another post-er mention they thought Kai was a "douche" at first. My $0.02 is: FTR that isn't douchery, dearhearts; that's a display of what you call being confident in your swag.

Actually, every Kpop group has vocals, rappers, and dancers. Sometimes there is an exception in which a ballad group only has vocals of course, but other than that every group has all three things. Teddy collaborated with EXO on What Is Love from their first album. I absolutely love love that song. Anything EXO has put out that is RnB is so on point I just can't with them lol
