  • ELLIOTT THE STAR OF BIG WIN! | Liverpool 4-2 Tottenham reaction
    Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League as they beat Tottenham 4-2 on Sunday.
    Goals from Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott capped a dominant performance from the Reds, who brought their recent stumble to an end in style.
    Liverpool reporter David Lynch was at Anfield to see Jurgen Klopp's side remind everyone of their quality.
    And he was impressed by the performances of two of the goalscorers in particular in the form of Gakpo and Elliott.
    Young defender Jarell Quansah also comes in for praise having seemingly leapfrogged Ibrahima Konate in the pecking order.
    Check out this review of the game and let us know who was your man of the match in the comments.

    Who was your Liverpool man of the match against Tottenham?

      I thought Harvey Elliott was very good, he seemed to live in between Tottenham's midfield and defence so they couldn't get close to him.

      Elliott deserved it but think Gakpo did well again, he was a massive miss against Everton for me.

    All the talk around Slot’s favoured 4-2-3-1 is who will be the 10 behind the lone striker ? Most chat forum comments have been around Szobo being the favourite to play the 10 role, with Salah (if he stays) and Gakpo being the other options. But for me, Ellliott should be the favourite. He needs to be playing in the central areas because he does not have the speed or physique for the wide areas, par as a forward. But he has great close control, and is very good at picking out a killer pass or a shot playing around the fringes of the opposition pen area.

    Salah played his game today as if he had something to prove,,,,and then some !!! Awesome performance!Welcome back Mo.👏👏👏 I just want to say David,No one can fill the Boss's shoes,,BUT,,,Slot can fill one & a half of them n that's good enough for me! Can't wait to see how LFC develops next season under him!Loved today's performance.I totally agree that Harvey qualified for man of match.Yes he's suited playing central.Lets hold it together for the last games.Thanks David for ya hard work.👏👏👏YNWA.❤🔴

    I thought Jarell Quansah struggled against Richarlison. Quansah kept getting the wrong side of Richarlison which allowed Richarlison to move freely in and out of space between Quansah and van Dijk. I also thought Quansah was at fault for the second goal as he went to charge down Oliver Skipp leaving a massive gap for Richarlison to occupy and then set up Heung-Min Son's goal. van Dijk should have helped Quansah out more by telling him to get goal side on Richarlison and not get sucked towards the ball.
    The last 20 minutes the Midfield stopped tracking back despite Mac Allister, Endo and Elliott getting subbed off for Gravenberch, Bajcetic and Szoboszlai which then put more of a burden on the defence and they wasn't getting as much help when Liverpool was getting hit on the counter.
    Personally i'd like to see Arne Slot come in and shore up the defence, maybe tell his DM(s) to sit back more when the team is in possesion and protect the defence against the counter when Trent and Robertson bomb forward. When Trent and Roberston go forward it forces Quansah tomove over and cover the Right Back position which then creates a massive gap between Right Back and Centre Back which players and teams like to expose like Richarlison and Tottenham did.

      Good analysis and I think you’re spot on. Do feel that game state and the amount of changes had a lot to do with it, though. The team lost a lot of rhythm with the subs, particularly throwing in Bajcetic after so long. That meant Quansah being thrown into one v ones constantly vs a player whose movement is very good. Still felt he had a really good game on the whole.

    I was watching the game from the Main Stand. It was absolutely incredible atmosphere. Great goals and good result. It’s a pity we couldn’t keep a clean sheet. I saw Alison was furious when Spurs scored the 1st goal. Great save by Ali! Harvey was energetic and deserved to be MOTM ❤❤❤❤ YNWA. Keep this momentum going.

    Totally agree that fatigue has been a major factor. Wondering if maybe Klopp could have managed it differently. He didn’t have to pick players that were showing signs of said fatigue.

    Fatigue undoubtedly played a part in causing the injuries in the first place, then with being sidelined for so long it takes a good few weeks to get up to match fitness and back into rhythm.
    Unfortunately for us we've run out of season.
    I can see us finishing really strong now.

    Elliot my MOTM, he’s just 21 and plays better than players much older. Overall this season, When you look at the table you can see we have drawn a few games too many, conceded a few goals too many and not scored a few goals. The margins between us, City and Arsenal are very small. The three are miles ahead of everyone else and this isn’t spoken about enough. Injuries, fatigue etc are just how the season has panned out but recognise a top season overall when you see it.

      Frankly everything could’ve been peppered over and we could’ve scraped through the league for a good long while if we’d just scored our chances. We didn’t even need anything else. Just score the chances we had in the United, West Ham, Palace, if we didn’t get screwed by PGMOL at Spurs we’d be top of table…
      Arsenal are playing a more complete and well managed game than anyone else right now I honestly think they’ve been leagues above Liverpool since the holiday. And even with that, with just 3-4 more goals in the right matches we could’ve done it

    Can not understand how we have gone from playing so good. To playing so bad and then playing like this. I think you are defending the squad like you normally do. But I really don't believe fatigue was the reason for the poor performance lately. Nice to hear you back with a talk on a win. YNWA.

      @davidlynchlfc  Месяц назад

      To be fair, when I speak about fatigue from injuries, I’m not absolving anyone of blame! That’s been quite a few recent seasons in which Liverpool have had far too many injuries. It can’t happen again next season and they really do have to find solutions.

  • @svlagonda7417

    We should have bought Viktor Gyökeres instead of Nunez. Not only is he a better CF, but £20m transfer fee instead of £80m, would have saved £60m for another player!! Failure by the Liverpool transfer dept!!

    Too little, too late. It also fuels the prejudice that this team is soft, folding when it‘s peak pressure time, playing decent when the pressure is off. (Though one can make a very reasonable argument that based on xStats Liverpool overachieved the whole season, so that some dry spell was expected and it just happened the last weeks, maybe the initial start was the implementation of injured TAA, Jota, Salah and Jones that needed too long of a time to get to a level needed, but Klopp probably had to bring them to not overplay others or because a guy like Conor was injured).

    • @talisa222
      @talisa222 Месяц назад +1

      Definitely not mentality monsters this year, quite the opposite. It almost felt at a point that the players were deliberately throwing the league but it’s more fatigue and nerves combining to give the impression that no one cared. Everybody wanted it too badly, oh well onto the next.
      No longer the long time boss leaving hanging over our heads next year so they can go back to playing emotionally balanced football

    Why was Harvey the Star? Scored a stunning goal. But other aspects were average . 🙄 Team played OK 👍 👌
    25 shots is 4 less than v Man U so not a better performance just the pressure off and ability to score. Cruel? Maybe or fair appraisal of Team unable to cope. Good Teams learn from loss. I hope next season. We stay solid. No mass exodus. Next 6 weeks will define it.

    Can we stop with the excuses please, every team has had injuries, every team in the top half of the table has had the same schedule as liverpool, the team has been well awaer of the situation and THEY have let us down but most importantly the have let the manager down for not going all out for the league, dont get it twisted they bottled it, look at the result against Man u, home and away like we didn't know what they were going to do against us then palace and most recently the Everton game, anyone saying that we were robbed or the injuries thing we have most of the first team available for the run in, so I'm not hearing it.

      He wasn’t great but not as bad as you make out. He made a few dribbles forward and Spurs had to foul him twice to stop him. But, the big thing was that this was his first game for 15 months, and he was obviously not going to be match sharp, so it was very important for him to get some minutes.
