  • Our latest walk in the Lake District takes in two of the Eastern fells, Glenridding Dodd and Sheffield Pike.
The forecast for this walk wasn't the best, low cloud and mist, high winds and not much chance of any cloud free summits. However, the forecast was not the most accurate for once. As you'll see we had some great conditions and views - they were very accurate with the high winds prediction.
Hope you enjoy the video. Please give it a like and maybe hit the subscribe button if you like this sort of content.
    Thanks for watching.

An enjoyable watch on familiar terrain, love the 3D map at the start aswell, it will really help people navigate the route should they wish to follow in your footsteps.

Thanks, Dom. Not been on Sheffield Pike in ages, so it was really good to get back up there. No snow at all, but hopefully that's about to change.

Really nice route and video Mal. I looked on the OS Map for the route up to Glenridding Dodd but it didn't show it, but I thought it was great! Lovely route back too, and great views. Loved the bit along the shore of Ullswater too. Regards, Ashley

Hello, Ashley. Yes, the path through the woods isn't on the map, but I prefer it to the path from the youth hostel road, the views over Ullswater slowly reveal themselves. Thanks for looking in. Take care.

Not been up that route before but looked a gentler assent that the one I normally take. Been on both summits before and enjoyed both, spectacular views indeed. Shame about the lack of snow but it is forecasted to get a get a bit colder next week. That wind looked cold mind as well as dam strong, don't blame you for not hanging around. I had just typed about the bridge but good that you found it and it was -10C when we took that path back down to Glenridding last December and the path was thick of ice, thank goodness for micro spikes! Cheers Alan

Thanks for looking in, Alan. I've climbed this fell by two different paths, they're both good, but I prefer the wood path. It was one of those days where the wind was so strong on the summit, you didn't want to hang around at all. Not been near Sticks Pass for years, so couldn't remember the bridge was there, but was glad to see it. Just hoping we get a bit more snow in the next few weeks. Cheers!

Thanks for looking in. Always loved this walk, but not actually done Sticks Pass for years, must give it another go some time. Just need winter to come back with some snow. Cheers!

Thanks for watching; it's really appreciated. Yeah, I love this walk, not too difficult, great views over Ullswater. That tree on Heron Pike is irresistible. As for the boggy section, forget it in autumn and winter - it's a nightmare. Take care mate.

Been waiting for Your new video. And here it is. One of my best birthday presents!
And after seeing that finger post, I now know that one can get up to Helvellyn coming from Glenridding without taking the edges. Since watching these videos I've been wondering how I got up there 50 years ago.
    Take care
    Elvira

Hello Elvira. Many thanks for watching. It was good to get out again. Very windy on the summits, but the lack of snow is disappointing, you wouldn't think it was winter at all. A big happy birthday from me to you. Take care x

@@malgreenley-lakedistrictvi5230 Thank You. I think it's called "fishing", but at my age I need all the good wishes I can get. I hope I can make it over to England again sometime.
