Man you just saved me.....I truly appreciate this DIY....Because I was just about to do it wrong......My atv came with that wrench.....Let me go out here and do it the right way....
Great no nonsense video. I loved the ride on my 2020 sportsman, it felt like riding a marshmallow. Now my 2021 rides stiff. I'll look to see if can lower mine and get that softer fell back. The 2021 came with a spanner wrench but NO A-arm protectors or the rear storage box 🤔 the price you pay. Thanks subbed.!
@@themechanic4953 was that adjustment enough or do you think you should of went all the way up? I'm 265lbs and will have a extra 120 lbs on the back with a sprayer
I have a 2021 Polaris sportsman 450 zenith blue. I adjusted the setting all the way to the highest i think which means the stiffest will it give me a more lifted look? or do you suggest me putting them back all the way back to the lowest setting and btw what’s the point of stiffing or un stiffening your shocks
It will not give it a lifted look. The stiffer the spring the more weight it can carry. Like me I'm 6'2" 250 pounds I need a stiffer spring. If your not a heavy guy lower your stings a little for a softer ride
Yes and no if that makes any sense. It all depends on how much you weigh. I'm 6'2" so if they are not adjusted then the rear will sag really bad. You adjust them to your weight. If your 100 pounds don't adjust them all the way up.
@@themechanic4953 I did run the number. Didn't come up with anything. I ordered one from Amazon. I've made the adjustment with a very large channel locks pliers in the past,. Now I need to crank them all the way. When I haul a trailer full of wood, I have to get someone to sit on the front, or I can't steer. This is only one is the disturbing design flaws with Polaris. For 17 years I used an Arctic Cat 375. Never had this issue. That 375 didn't care what I hooked up to it. It never bottomed out. Same thing hauling my boat. It's very disappointing to spend thousands on a machine and get it home and find out it's a pussy when it comes to work. I get the whole soft suspension thing for riding, but I don't ride. For me it's strictly a work horse.
I used a giant pair of channel locks and adjust all mine without damage. If you're not a goof it can be done..... Beside who cares if it gets a bit boogered up,Ya ain't going to see it when it gets covered in mud.
@@themechanic4953 There is no spanner wrench that will turn the adjustment on the left rear shock because the upper a arm or the air box gets in the way.
@@themechanic4953 dude. You're the video guy. I'm trying to adjust both sides of the rear. Nobody has produced a video of the left side being adjusted. The factory wrench absolutely can't work because the upper a arm stops it in One direction and the air box for the belt stops it in the other direction. It looks like something more has to be disassembled then just the removal of a wheel. And again, there appear to be no videos showing the adjustment of the left rear without mangling the adjuster with vise grips, channel locks, or an occasional pipe wrench.
Thanks. I brought my 2014 in and cost me over 100.00 . Now i can do it my self for less than 15.00 on my 2019. Thanks so much Brother.
No problem I'm going to post a video in a day or so on oil change a front and rear diff fluids to make it easy for everyone

Nice vid, FYI: If you spray some WD-40 or equivalent on the adjuster first it makes the job alot easier!
Ya I know thanks buddy. you know us guys sometimes we forget stuff lol
Polaris does provide the wrench in the tool kit that comes with your atv
Never got one bought two that day 😅
@@themechanic4953 ya mine was hidden in the rear compartment above the trailer hitch.
I use a chunk of rubber from a bicycle rim spoke liner and channel locks no damage.
Did these raise the rear of your polaris sportsman?

My 22 sportsman came with the wrench as well and no A-arm protectors, but had the storage under the seat
My polaris is sitting lower after a few years. Will this lift the rear end? Great video by the way!
That tool comes in the tool kit on the 850’s
Same on the 2016 570 sportsman
Excellent Video, very helpful. THANKS 😁
Thanks man!! Great video, I appreciate the information!
Thank you very much for posting this.
Awesome video! Thanks! Now moving them up made it more stiffer? That’s what I was wanting to do with mine to make it don’t sink down with me on it..
That's why I had to do mine I'm 6'2" 250 pounds it sunk way low

The sportman become higher after the adjust? The space between the wheel and plastic become biger?
Yes
But not much it basically just stiffens the springs
Thank you. Great video and straight the point

Doesn't it come with the machine under the front rack
No
@@motoabuse2792 it did with our 2016
Can you raise the front shocks?
It depends on the year and model what do you have
I always used adjustable channel locks on the flat part under the lip. Worked fine for me.
Still not the right tool for the job and considering it's a $10 tool speaks for itself.
Thanks Brother
What size spanner wrench is it
I think I showed the part number you would have to look it up I'm not sure
@@themechanic4953 .....yes I have the part number but online they just show a bunch of different sizes of spanner wrenches

Damn springs to tight to turn my like that.
Seriously...vise grips should only be allowed in certain peoples hands.

Now, do the left side rear. 😂
Its the same as the right

Polaris didn't give a shit about making these shocks adjustable when they include a spanner wrench that won't fit.
