I finally got around to ordering these over a year and a half after seeing this review. I decided to go back and watch this video. All my headphone listening is done in my lazy-boy so I guess these will be perfect. One the sadder side I have lost both of my music buddies since November. Not only do I still miss them, I also miss Chewbacca. All headphone reviews should have cats in them. 😀
Awesome headphones, had these for a few months now and you can play anything on them and they sound chill. I even play power metal on these and I fall asleep. Very good headphones and underrated.
I've done lots of research on these and THIS IS WHY THEY SOUND WEIRD AND HERE IS THE SOLUTION. 1. Change pads to the 2nd pair that comes with. They have larger perforations which opens up the sound and infuses air which is needed to counter the next step. 2. Soften up the pads so they sink in better on your head. This will increase the bass across the board and it will also lower the treble amount, because your ears come closer to the driver. New, stiff pads = the enemy. 3. Match headphone with a decently powerful amplifier with moderate amount of output impedance. Portable amps or amps with extremely low output impedance will make them sound lean, which exaggerates the midrange, imparting a hollow sound that you can hear in the sound demo. 4. These are particularly susceptible to burn in as they use a silicone surround around the driver, just like speakers or subwoofers use rubber surround. They become more receptive to signal with usage as the silicone becomes more and more pliable. 100 hours should be enough, probably less, but more is better before making final judgements of sound. There's also the fact of psychological burn in/adjusting to the sound.
I bought one unit and in approx 2 weeks of use, the black matte paint is peeling off and IBasso wont give warranty cover. I dont think these headphones are well made. Regretting my purchase

I went to shop for an upgrade from Beyedynamic COPs, and had the chance to demo different open cans for a few hours. The Audeze and Hifiman were great, the Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic did disappoint. These came in as a side option as they only had a demo unit to sell - but the music I was listening to just worked best for me. I could heard the Audeze sounding 'better' and also resolving more space. But for the music I am demoing - these won. I haven't really compared them to my old headphones too much. I fear it's not that much of an upgrade. But I might have something to upgrade to in the future. Mine came with flat pads, which I haven't tried - but that could do for some more bass?
Does the comment about tubes and high impedance headphones apply to tube hybrid kit - i.e. tube on the pre-amp stage? Does that make a difference. Sorry that was a technical question and not my usual reference to Furry Cat Ear attachments for Planars.
The measurements for these headphones on the reference-audio-analyzer website show a 6db boost in the bass and a 6db dip from 2-3khz which could make the 6khz region stand out more then it should. Very interesting frequency response. I cannot think of any other headphone in this price range with this much bass boost! It is probably why they sound so chill. It measures as if it has been equalised!!! I wish there where more reviews on this headphone.

Yo Zeos... So check this out what i did.. I was looking for quick solution while waiting for my geshelli amp for ananda, and I dusted off my never used sony reciever you would normally use for home stereo system. Model is STR-DH590. I ran bluetooth from phone to it and used quarter inch to plug ananda into it. Results were descent, *accessed dev option to adjust bt settings and used stock ambient and treble boost... and tidal master tracks. But holy shit did it light up my dynamic driver audio technica ath 660 deep bass drivers. I mean fuck man, they sound so damn good on it its got me worried.
It looks like a Sivga Phoenix without the luxury wood cups. The way Zeos describes them, they're essentially it's ideal mirror opposite. A casual sound instead of a playful sound, futuristic instead of natural, more closed but still has a wide soundstage. If it was ~$300 I could argue buying it purely to contrast the Phoenix. But $500 overshoots the line for a middle-class income by ~$150.
Mauz pads, I ordered the exact one zeos had and its great so far I did not expect them to be so long I would measure your desk to make sure it can fit lol mine barely does

Absolutely. They don't leak much and you can be communicated with if needed. They're also supremely comfortable and has an inoffensive, slightly warm tuning. Just perfect for the office!
Dont even touch it with a barge pole. I am having quality issues with my unit. After 2 weeks of use, the powder coat black paint is peeling off! IBasso wont give a warranty cover. They dont cover cosmetic defects (Small Print). My 530 usd gone down the drain. The unit is not well made at all!
I am putting this comment here as a word of caution. This is not a cheap headphone by no standards. It is 523$ in my country! But the build quality does not stand even the quality of a cheap 25$ amazon headphone! The black matte paint started peeling off in the second week of use! I immediately reported for warranty claim, and of course cosmetic changes are not covered! My left leather headstrap broke off its attachment on the left side about 2 days back about 7 months into use- because it is made of thin plastic moorings. Trust me, I use this headphone very sparingly because of its build problems. My daily driver is a HE-4XX and I have Senheisers too. My primary environment of listening is Spotify and Quobuz on my desktop. I never carry these headphones while travelling.
My biggest problem is with IBasso, they are knowingly getting rid of unsold stock to gullible customers. They should have pulled the model out of the market. If you go to their website, you will not see this product listed anymore! They surreptisiously removed it. That is odd! A company making no mention of a relatively new product they made last year! The product build is flawed by design. Bad choice of materials combined with poor design and quality control. Trust me, I used to provide quality control solutions to automotive manufacturers. In this age of internet buying, companies are taking their customers for a ride!
Problem with those headphones is that the gimbals are painted, and the paint wears off pretty quickly. So stupid to waste the customer’s satisfaction for that.

Everyone from your forum when they heard you ask to list some bad amps: ah yes, we'd love to list them, but you've given them all good reviews, so that kind of nullifies the whole point... But seriously, most standalone amps are at least of a quality higher than what motherboards already come with, so you'll either have to run the headphones straight out of a 3.5mm port on your laptop or find some really old and cheap amp with a very high noise floor to be able to get something that everyone can agree on as being shit. Otherwise, all the comments will be about the SP200 and other THX amps, lol.

I own that thing. A meizu usb-c dac (you can buy usb adapter) is much better. The sharkoon is just average.

the nighthawks are dark.. the iBasso are natural and balanced
there's no sharpness with these, but the highs remain detailed and clear
