    Them pancakes have emotions and I can see by the look of them they don’t want to exist 😂 not trying to be mean I’m just making a little joke. • @jem5252
      @jem5252 4 года назад +2

      I don't think that's the only thing that matters, because most of it isn't true to a real American breakfast and if they could have the real thing, freshly made for them with all the fixin's, then I think it would make a big difference. This seemed more like a cute way to make fun of typical breakfast fare for many Americans. Most of it looked awful and most likely tasted awful. If that was served to me, let's say at Denny's, it would be a no-go, right?

    Nobody cooks bacon and/or pancakes perfectly in the beginning. You have to practice over time to know when to take the bacon off the heat before it overcooks but not before it's cooked. And with pancakes, it's easy to make the mix with too much water where the pancakes are flat like that. Then again, too little water and the cakes don't cook in the middle. Practice practice practice.

    This is something to make on the weekends, for weekdays I usually just make a sunny side up egg tomatoes and put it on top of toast. I wake up at 6 am, but I have to be at work at 8 so there is not enough time to make something bigger. Just make something filling enough to not have my stomach growl during a meeting lol. I love weekdays because then I can make bigger breakfast. My go-to would be huevos rancheros, omelets, and something I saw on tv and made it my own way. It is bite-size soft potato with scallions and pepper if you want you can add cheese on top and then add an egg and pop it in the oven, make a salad on the side and there. This will definitely fill you up well. I love making this one but because it takes long time to make, I usually only do it when I don't feel lazy. I don't like sweet so it is rare for me to make french toast or pancakes unless my dad wants some.

    to be fair, there are a lot of people who like super crispy bacon. Those don't look too out of the ordinary compared to some that I have seen people eat in the US. and considering this is basically a homemade meal, I don't really see an issue with the pancakes. Definitely wouldn't be happy if this was served to me in a restaurant but if it's just like someone in my family making it, i wouldn't really bat an eye at it.
    edit: typo

    Everyone has their own preferences on the thickness of pancakes & how done the bacon gets. In my opinion those pancakes are on the thin side & the bacon looks a little over done while someone else might think they are just perfect. For me cooking breakfast was a trial and error until I found what tasted the best to me.

    It’d be cool if they tried Beignets, they’re basically French donuts(?), fried dough but square with powdered sugar coating on top.
    American breakfast is extremely variable but the cliche is eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, and hash browns. Pancakes and/or waffles are less common but relatively easy to make and you can bake them w/chocolate chips, bananas, or blueberries. You can also put various fruits on top of pancakes. Sometimes if you’re feeling really extra you can put whipped cream on top too.
    If you make omelettes you can pack them full of a variety of extra stuff like ham, bacon, peppers, tomatoes, avocado, cheese, mushrooms, onions, etc. for some pretty neat flavor varieties.
    For my family, weekday breakfast was fast, usually some sort of cracker or snack bar, and sometimes cereal. Weekends, especially Sunday, we’d do a more stereotypical full breakfast. My favorite days were the one’s when my dad decided to make cinnamon rolls, so we would have cinnamon rolls and omelettes. So yummy 🥺👌

    Every time they talk about an American breakfast it is always the same. They must realize how big US is and not all regions cook the same. Down South you will probably see more biscuits, gravy,grits, sausage/bacon and eggs. and that is mostly on weekends. Our foods of choice is so diversified for breakfast, lunch and dinner that it is not just one main staple any more.

    Add a a bit of milk to the eggs to make them more fluffy. Also, cook them in low/medium heat so they don’t burn. Also, if you don’t like maple syrup, you can add powdered sugar and chocolate chips to the batter. We also drink vegetable juice, coffee, tea, milk, and water depending on our preferences. We also love waffles.

    I don’t know about other Americans but I usually eat Chick-fil-A for breakfast or some kind of fast food type thing. I think that this “American style” breakfast isn’t actually very common among Americans because we have to drive everywhere. You drive everywhere so you don’t have time to make breakfast in the morning. Also, much of the United States is foreign. Like I’m from the south yet almost every family I know is not full “American.” So their breakfast will be inspired by their parents origins.

    I watched a TRY channel video one day. They had young Korean people trying IHOP breakfasts. They were amazed at those extra sweet entres! A few persons (Korean) in the responses also pointed out -- "It's no wonder Americans are so heavy!' I pointed out to them that most American persons don't eat like that daily. "For most of us," I said, "that type of breakfast food is an occasional treat... Those who do eat like that often do have a weight problem." :-) I had a nice conversation with several persons in the comments section after that. :-)

    I think it's important that foreigners know that this is not what Americans eat for breakfast on any typical day...this is something people might make on the weekends or special occasions when they have the luxury of time to prepare an elaborate meal. It's more of a "treat" to have a full breakfast like that.

    My family doesn't usually eat french toast or pancakes. It's a special breakfast that we would have on Saturdays. I'm not sure about the rest of America though. I will say that if you're gonna eat pancakes, make sure they're the thick, fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The buttermilk makes a huge difference. My family makes good ones.
    For me, I often have eggs with oatmeal and berries, or muesli and then a cup of tea. If I'm in a hurry I will eat a bagel or have a bowl of cold cereal (like Honey Nut Cherrios or Cracklin Oat Bran). I think a lot of people eat cold cereal, but I also know a lot of people who skip breakfast to hurry off to work.

    Not a bad breakfast to be completely honest. The bacon doesn't look burnt and most people from my experience prefer crispy bacon like that. I have a couple bacon aficionado friends and they swear by oven baked bacon as the best. Scrambled eggs is good but nothing special. I, like some people, like to spice it up with stuff like onions, tomatoes, spinach. I recently liked make my eggs rolled like how koreans and japanese do it. The pancakes look sad at fist, but i started to think of them as crepe like. nothing really wrong with it, just lacks the fluffiness of a standard pancake. Over all good job for a standard breakfast.
    When i see people try American foods, its always such a general American menu, or southern BBQ. Why not try some regional delicacy? I'm form Hawaii so obviously i would love to see people try some of our local foods. Like a spam, portuguese sausage(very different from actual sausages from portugal btw) egg and rice breakfast (this combo common enough to be on our local mcdonalds menu lol), or a burger patty covered in gravy topped with an egg over a bed of rice that we call a loco moco (crazy booger lol). How about some traditional Hawaiian foods like kalua pork, and lau lau. and everyone seems to be on the Poke train recently, but my bias will always have me saying the best poke is here in Hawaii!
    AND NO HAWAIIAN PIZZA! THAT STUFF ISN'T HAWAIIAN! IT WAS INVENTED IN CANADA AND THE MAJORITY OF PINEAPPLES COMES FROM SOUTH AMERICA!! IT SHOULD BE CALLED SOUTH AMERICAN PIZZA IF ANYTHING!! I love pineapple and it is one of my top fruits to eat, but its to strong of a flavor on a pizza. it over powers the rest of the flavors for me so i often avoid it. If its on a pizza, i'll still eat it, but i'm not going to go out of my way to order it.

    The best bacon has more fat than lean. Pancake batter needed to rest before cooking in butter. Eggs needed to be mixed with a little cream and stirred in butter in the pan. Otherwise it all looked ok. You should make them what we call one-eyed sailors, not to be confused with toad-in-a-hole, which is Yorkshire pudding with sausages in it. It’s a slice of white bread with a hole in the middle for the egg. Cook in a pan with butter for 3 minutes then flip and cook for another 3 minutes. Also, fry the extra bread circle. You use it to catch the extra yolk when you’re eating.

  • @andrewwatson9805
    @andrewwatson9805 3 года назад

    In defence of the PD, a lot of people like bacon crispy and consider it a healthier choice because most of the fat has been rendered out. However, the scrambled egg--the PD said she made it earlier, and that's part of the problem. Scrambled eggs should be cooked in a pot (not frying pan) slowly, on medium/low heat, continually scraping the egg off the bottom of the pot. It should never be allowed to bubble. If cooked too fast it becomes hard and watery. It's also very easy to overcook scrambled egg, so it should be removed from the pot about 30 seconds or so before it is done. The egg will continue to cook in its own heat in the serving dish or plate. Serve as quickly as you can after, or it'll become hard and overcooked. Similarly with pancakes, they should be served as quick as possible when they are cooked or they'll collapse. Another item which is part of the American breakfast is hash browns, which can be made with loose shredded potatoes, compacted shredded potatoes, or cubed potatoes.
