I know this is an older video, but I had to comment about what an amazing photographer you are!! Really, your shots are perfect! The angles, the lighting, the placement...everything. If you weren't a photographer in your pre-Ebay seller life, you could have been. Gonna make me up my game, thank you :)
Thanks so much for these tips! I’ve always questioned myself on whether I’m getting the right angles when taking my photos, and now I know exactly what to do. So easy and simple yet effective. You’ll know exactly what sellers have been watching on RUclips when you start seeing shoes photographed just like yours 😁😁😁. Have a great weekend and looking forward to the next vid.
Thank you so much. A good idea is to have a look at some of the shoe websites and look at the angles on the stock photos. You can then compare to how others are listing on eBay and you will start to notice the shoe listings that are taken at poor angles. Once you see it, you can't un-see it! lol Thank you so much for watching.
Always enjoy your informative and fun videos. I sell lots of jeans. Hint. When photographing in batch’s, after my last picture of the particular jean, I take a picture of the blank table so I distinguish when the series end and the new begins.
Great idea! Jeans are great sellers. I also really enjoy selling jeans - especially mens jeans. They sell better for me then women's. Thank you for watching.
getting as much shoe in the camera lens as possible. Very good advice. That was a game changer for me. It made me use manual focus with my canon camera, which also made a big difference. Thanks! BTW, you take impressive photos.
You've been a great help to me Mel. I generally use an SLR camera too and have been taking photos of items such as shoes at desktop height, but this means over stretching or stepping on and off of a foot stool to get the over head shot and also sometimes re-positioning the item on the floor. The lower height using a small tabletop is a great idea and would prove to be more productive than my method. I will be giving it a go. Thank you.
I'd love you to let me know if you try it and what you think Ian. I have tried it on a higher table myself and I get a sore back. I prefer to be lower and I like the angle it gives. Thanks again for watching, I always appreciate your support.
This was amazing!!! Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial and handy tips! I started selling clothes online this year and have struggled so much with the photos, this is so helpful thank you!!!
Thanks so much for this video. I've learned quite a bit and will apply it to my ebay store shoes photography. I especially like the eye-level shots, filling the frame, and the pool noodle ideas. Chris in Florida, USA
Yes! I hope they open for you soon! I have too much stock, I got another huge haul today. I should start selling off some of my death pile in bulk lots lol
Another Great video! You seem to always find such wonderful items to sell. Hubby and I were looking at shoes during our last shop. I never know whats a good price for them. And the quality of those shoes is better than anything we find. So we haven't purchased any yet lol Always looking up ways to improve how we are doing things :) Looking forward to part 4! :)
Yes, I do find some good quality shoes here. Some of them barely look worn it's crazy! Most shoes I buy are $5 - $12 but I do pay more for shoes if they are a good brand and in really good condition. For example, I would pay higher for ecco shoes as they are expensive and high quality. I once paid $45 for a pair of Kathmandu Hiking Boots but I sold them for $160 very fast. And I've paid up $50 for RM Williams Boots and sold them for high profit. If the shoes are high priced but a good brand, still run your comps on your eBay app as you still have a great chance of making money. Also, you can add a wanted ad to your local FREE Facebook groups. I often pick up shoes for free on facebook in my local free group :)
This was so great thank you so much ..very helpful and great tips!! side note at the very beginning I did think you said you said full time "wrestling mom"...my brain realized you said "reselling mom"!! 💰📦 I subscribed cuz you are really SMAHT & wicked awesome!!..which is Bostons highest honor🤣
Your phone is perfectly fine! I use my phone now as it’s so much faster. Using the square setting on the phone is the best for eBay photos. eBay likes a square setting.
Wow Mel. I was tired just watching you. Great photography I have a Canon 80D but I find it quicker on my iphone. Great tips with the pool noodles. Thanks. You go girl. X
It is quicker with a phone for sure, I use the phone for shooting media but for my clothes and shoes I like to use the big camera. It's just a personal choice :)
Mel I loved loved binge watching your videos while I am listing on Ebay etc. Love your sense of humor and they are so informative. Great to see someone teaching how to do Ebay the right way and to have pride and professionalism in their work. I have been selling since 2000 and love it. Quick question do you have a link for the ring light that you are using here? What flash are you using for your camera? I am definitely going to start doing this system for my shoes. Great advice. Stay safe.
These are some very handy tips. I would like to ask 3 things, 1. You said that using a camera phone would work just as well when selling on ebay, would it work when selling on vinted? 2. Would using tissue work just as well as pool noodles? I have not got pool noodles. 3. I haven't got a white cort flute(may have spelt wrong), would a normal white bored or service work just as well? :)
Hi Mel. My wife & I absolutely love your videos and are keen to learn as much as we can as we will soon be venturing on the eBay reseller journey. Having just watched one of your bulk shooting videos, you mentioned that you may do a video on your post-processing technique using Photoshop. I have a camera similar to yours and also use Photoshop. I'd be very interested in your editing process and information on your camera settings (you said you used a 35mm lens) and if you shoot plain or RAW. Have you done a video on this or do you plan on doing one? Keep it up Mel - you have 2 new dedicated fans!
Some can be a little work and I do try and buy the ones that don't need a lot of cleaning but they can make such good money sometimes it's worth spending the time cleaning them up a little :)
Love this Video VIDEO HELPFUL💃💃

Thanks so much 😊 I did do photography before eBay. Now I just use my iPhone for eBay photos. It’s much faster

What was the name of the white board under the shoe. Awesome job by the way!
Corflute. It’s a corregated plastic.
Hi was wondering what sort of camera set up I should purchase? Or just my phone ?
Your phone is perfectly fine! I use my phone now as it’s so much faster. Using the square setting on the phone is the best for eBay photos. eBay likes a square setting.

This was so helpful! What is code flute? I didn’t see the video?
Corflute/corrugated plastic. You buy it in hardware shops for cheap :) They often use it for real estate/outdoor signs
Great video.
Thank you

Do you ever include the shoe box in any shots?
Yes if they come with a box I would put the shoes on top of the box for a photo.

All of my photos are a certain direction on my listings also. I'm OCD about that
I know there’s so much money to be made from selling shoes but I can’t stand cleaning shoes or photographing them
