Margaret Hamilton was worried about scaring kids, & eventually went on Mr Rogers to reassure kids she wasn't really as she seemed. Also severely burned during a production accident, probably not aware of how her part would be seen today.
Charlie Sheen caused his own problems, and the only thing I can think about Rose McGowan was that she was abused and told not to say anything. Even though she was paid off, that happened a lot in old Hollywood. It's just that the actress's in that time didn't say anything.
Hattie,s situation was just disgraceful but thats the way it was. She couldnt sit with the all white guests and stars during the ceremoney. I completely agree-bleeping words like "sexuality" and "sex-life" feels outdated and unnecessary, especially when they're not offensive but part of normal, respectful conversations. It almost makes the topic seem taboo when it shouldn’t be. Open and honest dialogue is so important, and censoring words like these only adds unnecessary stigma. Let’s focus on context and intent instead of blanket censorship!
Segregation because of the colour of someone's skin is such a bizarre concept to me......... I'm glad we've mostly learned from our mistakes as a society, but it's still not nearly enough. It's ridiculous. 8•|
I have never cared about anyone's colour, religion, sexual preference etc. I either like someone or I don't but it's never due to any of those things. It's about how they treat me. Thankfully, my parents were unbiased so I never had to contend with prejudice at home. It's also bizarre to me that these things matter to so many people.
I’m sorry but I really dislike Loretta Young at cutting Gable out of her child’s life. That girl didn’t find out who her father was until she pressed her mother about it before she herself was to marry. She wanted to feel complete before she married and Loretta finally told her the truth. Gable was really hurt that he was cut out of her life. Loretta had the audacity to send him a note when the baby was born to tell him it was a girl. Really!? She wanted to hide the kid, cut him out, but smacked him in the face with that note, like, you will never know your kid but hey, it’s a girl. How cruel!!
Only very late in her life did Loretta Young finally leave her Catholic guilt behind and came to terms that Gable raped her during the filming of "Call of the Wild". It's in her daughter Judy's book. You don't have to believe it but if you research, it makes the most sense.

Since Marilyn was platinum, I can't even imagine how long she had to bleach her hair. 🤔
"would have lost his career" - And rightly so... Read : Bible, Romans 1: 24-27 - - - - - "Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error"
I loved watching little Little Shirley Temple dance and sing 'The Good Ship Lollipop', but the Addams Family was my all-time favorite. I desperately wished I was Wednesday as a child. Back in the day, kids were much tougher than the marshmallows they are now, because there were many treacherous and abusive 'grownups' - even parents - who were just "taking care of the children." Poor Jackie Coogan. Do yourself a favor though, stop muting those horrible words like 'S-E-X' and you'll get a lot more viewers. We're not all twelve~
Tippi Hedren was also treated badly by Alfred Hitchcock. Working for him was wearing her out because the roles were so challenging. He told her that if she broke her contract, he'd make sure she would never work again. She did, and then he did.
Sandra Lock in my opinion was not a talented actress. When she started appearing in movies with Clint Eastwood I thought she was a gold digger, frumpy and frankly, not good enough for him. I was only a child when coming to these realizations, yet my opinion has not changed!
You had to assume something she had he liked, but it sure wasn't talent in front of the camera. That, in fact, is the only thing I never liked about Eastwood films.. Was her in them, and this man's apparent need to have her in them, even though, at the very least, she did nothing good for any of the ones he put her into. And at the very greatest, her being in them made them nearly impossible to watch, since acting is required, to keep the audience engaged. She really didn't know how to do that. I'd literally only keep watching a movie I realised had her in it, because I knew Eastwood was coming back to the frame soon. I sound like I hate the woman. I don't. I don't even know her. lol I just hate being inundated by bad actors because of who's running the show. Clint Eastwood is, otherwise brilliant.
@@g0i2023 The thing i hated most about Eastwood films was that HE was in them. Narcissistic pr*** who treated her like shit. You can break up with someone and still have some common decency. Apparently not a nice person. He had no right to decide that she would never work again in Hollywood or get her projects up and running. The studio bosses and producers to listened to the arrogant pr*** were just as bad. If they were decent people they'd have blacklisted HIM for trying instead of listening to his bullshit.
I love the Pink Powder Puff comment. Why is there a sign with Mary Pickford's name on it? Was she that guy's mother? Those subtitles need proof reading. What is pluratis? Pleuritis? That was one among many weird spelling errors. Computers, kick your human programmers!
The real question is what do struggling actors/actresses have to do to even break into show business? I'm under the impression that those who control the checkbook require certain favors--Harvey Weinstein comes to mind. Not sure fame and fortune is worth having to participate in the filth that permiates Hollywood.
Who wrote the script for this video? Sounds like a 3rd grade teacher wrote it for her class. The words & sentences are so juvenile, but the content is definitely not suitable for a juvenile. It horrifies & saddens me how they treated the actors, especially the children. What sickens me the most are the parents, who saw their children as meal tickets.
Judy Garland's story is well documented but although Mickey Rooney claimed he loved her he said it was NOT the studio who pushed the uppers and downers on her.
The last example.....this was in a so called more modern time where abusing young women would have been less tolerated. Marlon Brando and a Director forced an actress to play a role she didn’t want?
Damn the commercials right in the middle of a sentence, even in the middle of a word .... what were they saying? Sheeyit. I forgot. Too many commercials = thumbs down.

She only got stereotyped Asian roles. Hollywood pick Katherine Hepburn over May Wong to play a Chinese woman in the Good Earth. The Chinese community resented her for misrepresenting her own people in the roles she acted in.
Definitely.
Katharine Hepburn was not in The Good Earth; it was Merle Oberon.
Luise Rainer was the lead actress in The Good Earth. She won her second Best Actress Oscar in a row for her portrayal.
@@ravenlass3334 Yes, you’re right. I realized that the other day from a completely unrelated article lol. Poor memory here.
@@gigib8849Merle Oberon was from India and not of 100% English ancestry. So she actually was Asian. It was a secret though.
That was Phylicia Rashad. I know this because I saw an interview with her about the show back when the show was airing. She look hurt and scared to me in the interview. I kept telling people that I found the interview very concerning. I got the impression that she was afraid of BC. There was what she said and much of what she did not say. Everyone told me that I was wrong. Years later the BC scandal came out.
I knew Bill was no good. My brother was stationed at Camp Pendleton in the early 90s. He told me then that they were always told that Bill would drug his women with qualudes and then have sex with them. They told the women on base to never party with him on their days out. I always believed he was not a good person.

You may think things in Hollywood have changed, but the truth is there just as decrepit as always, powerful, greedy, and it's still their way of the highway, and even more political than ever...!!
I clicked on this by mistake, but I'll let it roll. This kind of subject hits to close to home as my mother was a friend of both Judy Garland and Natalie Wood. I was only 5 yrs old when Judy died, but I will never forget how it hit mumzie. The Old Man told me then that one day I would understand, but it's not right. He was correct
Hattie was the First to win an Oscar. Not Hallie Barry.
Hattie won Best supporting. Hallie was the first to win a best actress award.
The one that shocks me the most is #49 where you said that Michelle Hurd was Mrs Cosby on the Cosby Show. Phylicia Rashad played Mrs Cosby.
Margaret Hamilton was worried about scaring kids, & eventually went on Mr Rogers to reassure kids she wasn't really as she seemed. Also severely burned during a production accident, probably not aware of how her part would be seen today.
How do Charlie Sheen Rose Mcgowan fit into classic Hollywood?
Thank you!
Exactly!
They don't.
Charlie Sheen caused his own problems, and the only thing I can think about Rose McGowan was that she was abused and told not to say anything. Even though she was paid off, that happened a lot in old Hollywood. It's just that the actress's in that time didn't say anything.
@@BrendaKDavis-cz7fcto
Hattie,s situation was just disgraceful but thats the way it was. She couldnt sit with the all white guests and stars during the ceremoney. She had to take a back door entrance to get into the building and was sent to a green room with the other black stars. She was not allowed to go to any pre oscar lunches and dinners or any of the after parties. And she took it all like a true lady as did Butterfly.
Hattie also didn't dare come out of the closet.
Remember, Hollywood says they are the most inclusive people
I imagine that it was intimidating for actors being forced to preform against their wills.
But at no time should any actor should’ve let this happen. They should have quit or walked out! No amount of $$ or fame is more important than self respect n honor.
Maybe they had low self esteem and couldnt leave
Back then they signed contracts and couldn't quit until their contract was up.
What about the scandal with Charlie Sheen infecting folks and not tell them he was infected?
For some reason Hollywood seems to have overlooked that
Marilyn Monroe was so beautiful and so are the other beautiful girls!
I agree! I love that era with the clothes and hair ❤
OMGosh! I never realized just how cruel the entertainment industry was, and continue to be. This made me so sad, I actually cried for these, and all the stars.
All I have learned is that Hollywood is superficial, and despicable. I have tremendous respect for tjose celebrities that spoke out against Hollywood's disgusting standards....
I hate hearing she had to or he had to because No,they didn' have to. They chose to
Yes. They could have said 'f*** it' and walked away but they chose to conform and stay. Money and fame were the same big incentive then that they are now for a lot of people.
Notice the person who told Marilyn Monroe to change her hair. Snively. She was probably jealous of her. Damn the things they did to these stars is sad and disgusting and disrespectful. Why do people want to be famous when all you hear is doom and gloom in their lives. To think they all had the same beautiful smiles when they were suffering. Why do all these stars have the same fate. Drugs Overdoses and Death ☠️
John Gilbert was owned by the bottle. He was out of his league with Garbo. He did not play his cards well.
Ava Gardner was such a beautiful woman.
I could never have been in show biz because I am my own boss and I like to eat and do not care that at age 64 I gained weight and am chunky, also I choose who I am with and not. When there was a problem I nipped it in the bud or moved on. It upsets to hear so much people abuse. RIP to all who have passed that received abuse. All are in my heart 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️👏👏💕💕💕💕💕Holly 🙏
Nothing is shocking…..that’s what’s shocking.
Yes, I agree !!!
Was this written for children? 'People were mean to them' 'super long hours' 'grossed out'. This is such a bad video. It downplays all the awful things that were done to these people. It also suggests a lot that they were forced to do was their choice. This sounds like it was made for 5 year olds, even though it would be a little inappropriate for kids that young.
Good thing your not here in 2024 Ava because you couldn't decide what you wanted to do with your own body or life , some men have decided what you can and can not do!!!!! Imagine the year 2024
Rock Hudson never publicly admitted he was gay.
You lose me when you just use stock footage pictures that don’t relate to what you’re talking about and mix them in and then show actors who you are not talking about while you’re talking about someone else. Poorly edited.
Quite a few of these stories don’t even come close to what I would call “Horrible Things”. As advertised
This was interesting. Sad, but interesting.
It's more proof that all that glitters ain't gold.

Sandra Locke was not a good actress, she owed Eastwood for her sucess
And had a terrible singing voice.

Buster Keyton was a genius of the movie industry.... Go West... is among the greatest ever made ... it's a masterpiece
Why was it abuse to ask Monroe to go blonde?
Apparently she even dyed her pubic hair blonde!
Went for the full set... 😅
Maybe because it was painful to bleach her hair? From personal experience when I tried bleaching my hair long ago it BURNED! My hair is naturally black so if I wanted to dye it bright red, etc I had to bleach it for a few hours. It was not fun and the fumes were horrible! After 4 hours my hair was a brassy shade. Since Marilyn was platinum, I can't even imagine how long she had to bleach her hair. 🤔
You forgot what Hollywood did to Corey Haim.
Classic Hollywood ie old Hollywood
I didn't even know abortion was something women did all those years ago. Must of been awful for them
In the fifties Rock Hudson would have lost his career.
"would have lost his career" - And rightly so...
Read : Bible, Romans 1: 24-27 - - - - -
"Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.
LATE VIEWER FROM PHILIPPINES
Tippi Hedren was also treated badly by Alfred Hitchcock. Working for him was wearing her out because the roles were so challenging. He told her that if she broke her contract, he'd make sure she would never work again. She did, and then he did.
Sandra Lock in my opinion was not a talented actress. When she started appearing in movies with Clint Eastwood I thought she was a gold digger, frumpy and frankly, not good enough for him. I was only a child when coming to these realizations, yet my opinion has not changed!
Sondra Locke
This is truly disgusting how Hollywood has treated its actors and actresses at treating them like their slaves.
I love the Pink Powder Puff comment. Why is there a sign with Mary Pickford's name on it? Was she that guy's mother? Those subtitles need proof reading. What is pluratis? Pleuritis? That was one among many weird spelling errors. Computers, kick your human programmers!
Probably should have read pleurisy
The pain that was projected in the misfits came right through the screen.
MAYER WAS A MONSTER AND TODAY THEY STILL HAVE MEN IN HOLLYWOOD JUST LIKE MAYER..
My father told me Rock Hudson was gay in the 70s! Dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor in the 50s. Rock " grabbed" my father in a public men's room!😂
Kathy Lee Gifford? Lol!!!!! Michelle Hurd? Why show an episode of Cosby that had nothing to do with her?
“Stars” put up with the B.S. for the fame.
Michelle Hurd was not on the Cosby Show she was on one episode of the Cosby Mysteries. IMDB is a good source
Yeah. Wasn't that Felicia Rashad?
It wasn’t the studios that treated LGB actors badly. It was illegal when Rock Hudson was at his prime.
The SHEIK, not Chic. Sheik is the term for an Arab man. More or less.
Not Arab man. Arab ruler.
It shows the injustice and pressure that many actors have had to endure.
The real question is what do struggling actors/actresses have to do to even break into show business? I'm under the impression that those who control the checkbook require certain favors--Harvey Weinstein comes to mind. Not sure fame and fortune is worth having to participate in the filth that permiates Hollywood.
So...changing a stars name is a "terrible Thing" ?! Wow....
There is a reason that Hollywood is called "The Meat Grinder"...
You got the wrong Margaret Hamilton on the first picture 🤣😂
I noticed that too!
Sounds more like the third grader wrote it. Agree about the parents - Natalie Wood's mother was some piece of work.
Judy Garland's story is well documented but although Mickey Rooney claimed he loved her he said it was NOT the studio who pushed the uppers and downers on her.
He was also a NOTORIOUS liar.
The studio executives did more to Judy than get her hooked on drugs. They forced her to “go down” on them
@@laurabailey1054 they also forced her to have an abortion when she was married

The last example.....this was in a so called more modern time where abusing young women would have been less tolerated. Marlon Brando and a Director forced an actress to play a role she didn’t want?
